  • Pretty Cheap Quality for Price UPDATED
Everything written below still hold merit and I stand by what was written. However, I will add this. This product is absolutely the cheapest piece of crap that I've bought on Amazon. I read a lot of reviews about shredders before buying this model. First thing I can tell you is, it just feels cheap. The hopper is a pain to put together. I recommend two people. Simple enough assembly, but all the while I'm thinking this thing is never going to last. Testing: With dryish wet straw, as in not soaking wet but not super dry. The shredder did fairly well. Dry leaves, the shredder did fairly well. Wet leaves, the shredder did fairly well. I'm sort of impressed with how well the shredder worked. The size of the shredded material is fine to coarse. I thought I'd have to run the material through the shredder a second time, I may have to with the straw, but I found that the size was what I was looking for. During use, the hopper popped off. It was very secure after assembly. I originally gave this product three stars but while I was writing the review, I decided to lower it to two stars. When using, the shredder just feels like it could fall apart at any time. Even when the unit is off. And in my book, the power switch is reversed. To turn the unit on, you have to press the red side of the toggle switch. To turn the unit off, you press the green side of the toggle switch. I'll update this review in a few months. I have used the shredder several times now. While impressed with the working of the unit, I've lowered the rating to 1 star due to the cheapness of construction. The hopper part has cracked and I suspect will become unusable by the end of the growing season. I only put leaves and straw into the shredder. Price does not merit the length of time this product will last. ... show more

  • Just doesn't work in a real world scenario
I really wanted this to work, but I just can't recommended it in good standing. The theory makes sense, but the implementation is just not practical. The bottom line: if you feed it ONLY dry leaves then you are fine. But the reality is ... leaves are attached to twigs, so you inevitably put in very small branches/twigs. This negates any advantage it may have given you, because these small twigs cause the line to break off. It ultimately took me more time in replacing line and unclogging the hopper than any time/space savings. I worked with it for three weekends straight, each time trying to be more careful in not putting in twigs, but it was too much work and I finally gave up. Also after a few hundred start/unclogs/line replacement the motor is starting to struggle. After other reviews I am guessing it won't be long before it completely dies out. Much simpler to run my mulching mower over the pile of leaves than use this product. ... show more

  • Had to modify for my purpose, but happy with result
I would have given this more stars however the product is very flimsy, and I had to modify it. I'm going to have to replace several of the screws because they're plastic and I don't think they'll hold up. You get what you paid for. that being said I was happy with how well it mulched! You could only put a small amount of leaves in ii in order for it to not get bogged down. Don't even bother with the flimsy Cutting Lines that come with the product , they don't work at all. I went and bought some bigger 2.7mm ones and had to drill out the hole that they go through. Now I am not a handy woman, so this was very easy. I have 5 mature trees in my yard 3 of which are over 60'. The city allows two garbage bins for yard waste (so generous..not!) so getting all this into those bins is impossible. However this product helped me achieve that .One last comment I had to change out the shredding lines 6 times! it may be because some of the walnuts that fall for my tree, but I don't think so , I think the shredding lines are too close to the bottom so they get shredded faster know pun intended! The 3 photos are before, during and to give you an idea of how big my piles are my 2 dogs in one of them . ... show more

  • Overall very solid and strong but a few annoyances
The media could not be loaded. A solid and strong product that overall does great for what I needed; which was to shred bags of leaves that were mostly harder magnolia leaves. Which is awesome. It’s cheaply made and I had a few annoyances but overall ok. PROS: Strong motor and power It cut through all the leaves and small bits I put in there - including harder waxy magnolia leaves!! Which was a BIG PLUS! Easy to clean Has not jammed so far Fast and doesn’t seem to lag too much Light and easy to move Fits in my small shed CONS Cheap Plastic Confusing assembly More expensive than competition DOES NOT FIT ON A REGULAR TRASH CAN It barely fit over my 18 gallon rope tote and I had to lift it on to maneuver it on top. I have no clue what tiny ridiculous trash can they modeled it after but you’ll need to make an attachment or something because is smaller that the width of a 34 gallon plastic can and a Brute type can also. And shorter so even with the stand you won’t be able to fit it. Works well just wish it was made of less cheap plastic and ACTUALLY fit over a NORMAL trash can you’d see at an average house. ... show more
