Love it the bottom light has a low high setting switch is easy to get to makes a nice good click. The only thing I would change is having separate switches for each light. Overall it looks OK and works OK - it is functional and not terribly expensive. I bought it for the living room, but seeing it in person, I lean more toward having it in an out of the way office than a living room. It isn't a show piece. It is functional - did I say that? I'm not especially picky about these sorts of things, but there are a few considerations to make before buying: I should have read more closely - the bulbs are not replaceable, so this is a disposable lamp if anything goes wrong. Ok, so the math work out to a lamp that should last 18 years if left on 100% the entire time. Because they lamps are integrated, there is no option to select a bulb with a different white balance. It is either on or off. No dimmer or 3 way - the description says this, so again, read. Easy to assemble - mostly, but one is instructed to fold the power cable and insert it in the tube - the tube must be twisted, so not only are we folding active power cables, but twisting them - stress on power cables isn't a great idea. This seems like a safety issue. Shade - I'll need to measure, but it doesn't look like one could use after market shades if the shades that came with it crack, age, etc. The shades are a thin white plastic sort of frosted on the outside. ... show more

I got the version that has the replaceable bulbs. The Switch: The three-way switch is of exceptionally low quality. It works for now, but it feels like it is going to snap off in your hands when you use it. It is the worst feeling switch I have ever used. The Bulb: The included bulb for the torchiere light is a joke. It goes from a normal white light to a blue light, to a red light, to a green light then back to a white light each time you activate it – I’m not kidding. Why would they do this? The Cords: The cord appears to be in two sections: one for below the switch and one for above the switch. The upper cord is not a normal heavy black plastic insulated electrical cord like the lower one is. The upper cord insulation is some kind of thinly coated white fabric – it looks like something you would see on a 1950s era appliance. It’s not very confidence inspiring. On the brighter side, I was not electrocuted when I turned it on. Instructions: The included assembly instructions were not the correct instructions for this unit. This is one of the worst purchases I have made on Amazon, which was surprising given that there were a lot of reviews (7,110) reviews – most of them positive. Perhaps I just got a lemon. I generally have good luck on the website, but this purchase makes a strong case for physical stores where you can touch the actual product. ... show more
