Great first thermal camera

This worked amazing during electrical inspections and troubleshoots. I was able to identify loose connections multiple times before they became major issues in customers panels. And with the direct upload to the phone it made selling repairs a breeze. The only drawback is the way it attaches to the phone is a major weak point and after 7 months of use one careless mistake did damage it. That being said this is a great introductory tool for thermal camera use. Especially since it’s no where near as pricey as other alternatives. I may not purchase this model again but I will be sticking with flir. ... show more

Great at visualizing temperature; build quality could improve

Works well and helpful in looking at temperature in things visually. Was able to point out to my home insulation contractor the spots they missed. The only complaint, the plastic case around the device is poorly constructed or assembled. By handling the device in and out of the iPhone the case has come apart in 3 pieces after a handful of uses. They snap back together, but it’s disconcerting to have the circuit board in my hands. Maybe they didn’t glue the case shut? Battery goes fast, but for what I use it (residential homeowner) for that’s acceptable. Still recommend this if you need heat/cold visualization. ... show more

Poor quality

doesn’t stay in phone, loose fit. Gravity will pull it out and it disconnects and takes forever to reconnect. Battery drains so quickly. Would jump from 50% to 10% in a matter of a couple minutes. Constantly freezes as it’s “calibrating”. No longer even works haven’t even had it 6 whole month.

I've had one of these before, but when I updated my phone I never bothered to get the newer version. But thanks to the holiday season I went ahead and got the newest model compatible to my phone and right out of the gate discovered with it that the plumbing in my new location is flush against a freezing exterior wall. I put insulation on various parts and checked again after a good 30 minutes confirmed everything is going to be OK. If I had not utilized this, these pipes would have surely froze overnight and the cost to repair that would be unpleasant. The installation is simple. The functionality is accurate and easy to use. The only thing I recommend is make sure you check the settings so it's based on the temperature system you prefer (like Fahrenheit versus Celsius). You do not need to buy anything from the app for this to provide you the basic information you need to know if you have a water leakage, if you have drafts in your insulation, if you're electrical wiring is running too hot, or if your pipes are below 40°.
