Description

The FLIR K2 is a robust and reliable infrared camera designed to perform under extremely severe conditions. The K2 has an intuitive interface with a design that makes it easy to control even with a gloved hand. K2's compact design makes it light and easy to attach to turnouts. A single large button makes the camera simple to operate. Engineered to survive the tough operating conditions firefighters face out on the call, the K2 withstands a 2-meter drop onto concrete, is IP67 water resistant, and is fully operational up to +500°F/+260°C (up to 3 minutes). K2 can be set to one of seven different thermal imaging modes and uses FLIR's patented MSX technology which embosses key details from the built-in visible camera onto thermal images. The K2 measures temperatures from -20 °C (-4 °F) to 500 °C (932 °F) in two ranges. Comes with camera, 2 lithium rechargeable batteries, charger, lanyard strap, power supply, USB cable. This Thermal Imaging Product with a frame rate of 9Hz or less are controlled by the U.S. Department of Commerce and classified under Export Control Classification Number (“ECCN”) 6A993.a for U.S. export control purposes and may not be exported, re-exported, or transferred to a “Military End-User” in any country except the U.S. or Canada, except as approved under a U.S. export or re-export license. “Military End-User” means national armed services (army, navy, marine, air force, coast guard), national guard, national police, government intelligence or reconnaissance organizations. Military End-User also means any person or entity whose actions or functions are intended to support Military End-Uses. Additionally, these products may not be used in the design, development, production or use of nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons or missiles.

Received the Flir K2 which delivered by UPS. When I opened the packaging of Flir K2 I noticed the supporting casing for charger and Flir thermal imaging camera it has a crack, see attached picture. Not properly check the packaging prior to ship out. Very poor-quality check subject for improvement. I was disappointed with the seller. Item is for donation to Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and subject for functionality testing by the BFP personnel. No rating yet for easy use and value for money. ... show more

Excellent budget-friendly option for more than fire service use. This is more than sufficient for searching for suspects, missing persons, and anything having a thermal signature. If you're department doesn't have TICs or issue them to everyone, the K2 is priced low enough to buy one yourself and keep in your work bag. It's not a high end camera, and it is constantly refreshing which takes about 3 seconds. The FLIR software doesn't work on a Mac computer, so I've had to change setting using someone else's computer. It's light. It doesn't come with a retractable lanyard either, and unfortunately, the one I purchased isn't strong enough to keep it wound tight to my gear, so it bounces around. I bought it for firefighting because my employer doesn't want to get batteries for our Scott Eagle that is over 10 years old, so I bought it for myself because a TIC is an invaluable tool to have in my line of work. I couldn't afford a top of the line model on what they pay me, but I hope this will hold up well on the job. It has a rubber flap door on the top of the unit to access some things, and I see that getting ripped off since it doesn't seem to stay closed. I hope that no water enters it and damages it. I know this unit is intended to be an entry level model, but I guess I was hoping to get something a little more geared towards firefighting. It was either this or the Scott SCBA mask one that came out this year. That one requires a bunch of batteries though and since I seem to go through 3 AAA batteries a week with the stupid SCOTT voice emitter, I wasn't willing to shell out that kind of cash on something that would cost me ten times as much to constantly replace batteries. If you are a small department that can't secure the big $$ for a better model, and don't have many fires, I would think this one would do just fine. We are a department next to Detroit that sees a lot of fires, so I guess we'll see how this holds up over the next year. FLIR makes amazing products and is top of the line when it come to TI, this one hasn't really met my expectations so far though.
