The FLIR E4 Compact Thermal Imaging Camera assists professionals and DIY-ers alike in spotting hidden electrical, roofing and plumbing issues, so repairs can be made quickly and affordably. Using advanced, patented MSX Technology, the FLIR E4 provides enhanced, high-resolution radiometric images, which can help identify overheated circuits, hot and cold zones, condensation, moisture damage and much more. Simply aim, click and shoot with your FLIR E4. Use the free FLIR Tools reporting software to review images, analyze the data and generate detailed reports for companies, clients or prospective homeowners. Featuring Iron, Rainbow and Gray color palettes and centerspot measurement mode. The FLIR E4 comes with a hard transport case, Li-Ion rechargeable battery, Universal power supply/charger with four plugs, external battery charger, USB cable, FLIR Tools software for PC and Mac OS and a User manual. At the time of this review the price for these were $491 for the HTI-19 and about $1575 for the E5. Craftsmanship & Comfort: Right off the bat you can tell the difference in assembly quality. E5: Better pistol grip, hard carrying case. HTI: Feels more "toy like" has protective pouch with carrying strap. Ease of use: Both photo taking is "point & click," however the HTI-19 asks you every time if you want to save. E5 just saves. User Interface & buttons: HTI-19 menus are a little tricky but you can get used to it. The SELECT and ENTER are obscurely translated. What does select mean to you? "select between these things" or "select the option your cursor is on"? To view your photos you have to navigate through menus with no image preview. E5 Buttons are much simpler. Easy to go right to your photos by hitting the "play" button. Also has image previews. Boot up time before use: Hti-19: About 13 seconds E5: About 4 seconds Thermal Camera quality: Both claim to have a "thermal resolution" of 320x240. E5 IR images are more defined than the HTI-19. E5 saves a normal photo (648x480) at the same time as IR. HTI has 5 photo modes where progressively stronger thermal data is overlayed onto the raw photo. One click on E5 gets you 2 photos where the HTI requires 4 clicks. (since it asks you if you want to save each time) Distance detail: HTI really tries but clarity goes to the E5. Distance in photos are about 25 feet. Photo retrieval: Both can be connected to your computer via USB. E5 offers wifi/wifi direct although I haven't been able to figure that out. (haven't read the manual either) Conclusion: HTI-19 is a good budget thermal camera for fun + more. But if you want the professional look and feel then the E5 with more features is a better choice. ... show more

This product has been amazing so far. During home inspector training, my mentor had an E8 that he taught me on. After hours and hours of product research, I couldn’t justify the thousand dollar price difference between the E6 and the E8 when starting up my own business. This camera does everything that the E8 does and I can barely tell the difference between the image/thermal quality. Definitely recommend this for the home inspection profession, well worth the money when you can make it right back. A thermal camera, which you should use at every inspection, is not a tool that I would cheap out on in this line of work! Thanks FLIR!     • Without a subscribed service the photos are impossible to transfer to a smart phone.

The camera is easy enough to use but when attempting to transfer photos to a android smart phone via the WiFi it becomes impossible. First of all it requires a mobil hotspot to transfer from the WiFi camera to my WiFi phone. Why must I have a mobile connection to make such a transfer? If you are in a basement or otherwise out of range of your mobile network it will not work. It is required to "send" the photos to yourself? When attempting to do this the most photo apps are disabled for some reason and as shown in the attached photo, the Amazon app cannot find the photo. Even though the photos are viewable in the FLIR app they are not visible in the File app of the smart phone. If you want to otherwise use or edit the photos outside of the FLIR app it is impossible to do. I suppose this is to keep the photos in the FLIR app so that the FLIR logo cannot be removed? Repeated email responses from tech support could not solve these problems. Very disappointed with the proprietary nature of the scan results. ... show more

2025/01/13: Got this today and it's missing the battery charger. Either this is poor QA on FLIR, or was a returned product that Amazon didn't check that all parts were there. Contacted FLIR support and it was super easy to get in touch with them, no long wait. Will update later.
