    • Relatively easy to install, needs some prep work before installation.
I received this water softener system in record time (one day !). Maybe because I live in neighboring state. I got it during the week so had to wait till this Saturday to get it installed. I inventoried all the parts and the first thing I noticed was the lack of stainless steel bypass valve. I would prefer stainless value and was about to call the Aplus Water company about it since it is listed in item description, but I checked the price of that valve with its plastic counterpart I received and it was just few bucks. Also reviewers claimed that the metal valve reduces water flow significantly. Oh, wait a second that was my original reason why I bought a new water softener system in the first place. Old softener wasn't working right and plus being 20 years old caused massive reduction in water pressure in entire house. Remember low water pressure causes problems with laundry appliances, fridge ice makers so on... Therefore, I stock to what came in with this system. I watched several YouTube videos, read reviews and install infos so assembly went relatively easy. Problem arrived when trying to buy 3/4 OD-1/2 IO polyethylene drain tubing. No home improvement stores in my area carried it at all in that size. I wanted something rigid and ended up reusing 6ft of my old tubing, but extended it by 6ft more of new vinal tubing. I couplered them together just to keep same inner 1/2in size. For added peace of mind I used hose clamps to make sure all joints are secured and the end of drain pipe stays put when running back wash cycle water through it. That was the hardest part of my installation and big waste of time looking for 12ft polyethylene pipe. I already knew that my supply and output copper pipes were reversed so I used 12in Shark Bites on that. Kind of looks funny forming an X now. However, I digress. I am not a plumber so I followed the instructions from Aplus Water LLC and other videos and consequently I assembled the entire system in about 2.5h. Finally, programmed it to 27 grain on the controller and did the first back wash. So far no one can tell difference in water softness yet. Jeez, I just put it together today, people. Therefore, I will give it several days to two weeks to notice change in water hardnes just like the guy in the video said. Good luck with your installation. ... show more
