  • Just WOW! Best printer I have used yet.
Size: Adventurer 5M
Well, I have to say I am very impressed with this little guy. Since I had been using a 2019 printer of a different brand, with a much larger footprint, when I downsized to this one, I was not expecting the print quality that I am seeing. Pros: Small footprint, was up and running in under 10 minutes, all metal frame, X,Y,Z axis, nice controller once you get used to it, has handled all types of PLA so far Cons: Small build limit, not crazy about a filament feed tube, no auto shutoff (the Pro version has it for a couple hundred dollars more), it continued to try to print with an empty feed due to a tangle (but only on the loose sample, never on rolls), I couldn't get it to connect to our wi-fi, but I didn't try the 2.4g extender, only the 5g mesh router. So far, the learning curve was easy. I had a printer before, so that may have helped a lot. But I think the biggest hurdle is always the new software. This particular printer does best with the recommended Orca Slicer. I either download STL files from Thingiverse or make my own STL files from Fusion 360. I import them into Orca Slicer and size and tweak as needed. Then slice the plate, and export to g-code to a memory stick. That then goes into the control panel on the printer itself. Very easy to get to, it's at the top front of the printer. It's now printing a 12+ hour job and I'll try to post it when it finishes. Aside from these prints in the photos, I have only done a tiny sample tugboat and it came out very smooth. ... show more

  • Really Good Budget Core-XY
Size: Adventurer 5M
Took advantage of the sale and decided to get one of these Adventurer 5M's. I've only had it for a few days, but I'm loving it so far. The printer is very solid and fairly compact for its size. print quality is good, though I think Orca Slicer is the only slicer program that currently has a preset for the 5M series - so use that. The UI on the display is clear and very intuitive, though the touch screen is pretty cheap, so its not as sensitive or responsive as you may be used to. Really the only other con against it is that it's fairly loud when running, at least compared to some other machines out there. Things of note: make sure to wash the bed with dish soap and warm water when you set the printer up, and avoid touching it as much as possible. Before each print, remember to run levelling. I've seen some people have struggled with bed adhesion on their printers, so these have helped, and I don't even need to use glue. If you want a budget Core-XY machine, overall this is a great buy so far, with amazing value - even at full price. ... show more

  • Flashforge Adventure 5M 3D printer 600mm/s
Size: Adventurer 5M
Got this for my spouse for a surprise Christmas gift and he has been using it ever since. Hubby is having a blast creating things. The only negative is that the instructions, or lack thereof, is terrible. Otherwise, fun little machine.

  • There is no quality control or testing done
Size: Adventurer 5M
I received this printer on Feb 14th and through the holiday weekend I spent probably 24 working hours troubleshooting and trying to diagnose issues with this printer. I've attempted to use orca, cura, and flashprint, and none of them provided consistent results. Print success rate - My print success rate with this printer was probably 10%, with 90% of prints failing. I've auto leveled, vibration tested, manually leveled using the paper method, tried 4 different filaments (all PLA), modified probably 20-30 different settings at least 20 times each. Nothing I did would get the filament to extrude consistently across the bed. The bed also bowed up in the middle, so when the 4 corners were level the middle would scrape. Print quality - The print quality was actually really good, and quick when the print would work. I came away with some decent small prints, but could not successfully print anything taller than 20mm. Adhesion - I attribute a lot of my adhesion problems to the uneven first layers due to horrible extrusion, but unless I used a brim with everything, the print would eventually warp in 1 of the corners and eventually either fail or have terrible print quality. Some prints the hot end would eventually iron out the surface and it would succeed, but would have an uneven base. Build quality - The build quality was solid, it felt very sturdy, and built like a tank with only the base being plastic. My printer did develop a buzzing sound when moving along both x and y axis. Overall I can not and refuse to recommend this printer. Despite the good print quality, if I have to troubleshoot after every print and only 1 in 10 succeed then print quality really means nothing. Check the reddit for flash forge and the new 5m printers, my experience is not uncommon. Some youtubers are raving about it, and maybe they received a good unit, but the inconsistency with this product is awful, and you're taking a big gamble if you purchase one. ... show more

I would recommend this printer. I wish it had a larger build plate.

  • It just works
Size: Adventurer 5M
The media could not be loaded. Had the creality k1 for a little while (which was not the most reliable) and now have the Adventurer 5M and it is awesome! Like the title says, it just works and, so far, have had no issues. The prints come out clean and there is good adhesion to the build plate (even when I don’t use glue). ... show more

  • It works great
Size: Adventurer 5M Pro
I'm not exactly sure what the bad reviews were talking about I've been running it pretty nonstop since I got it and haven't had any problems like for example some say the auto leveling doesn't work it works perfectly for me anyway

  • Quirky but an amazing price
Size: Adventurer 5M
This is not the the perfect printer, it had its flaws. I'm not a huge fan of the beginner oriented user interface. I don't like that it isn't easier to use other slicers like orca. But the performance and quality of the prints is absolutely amazing at $300. I think it's actually really smart for flashforge to get this printer in as many hands as possible because a lot of the advancement in 3D printing comes from the users. ... show more
