  • Great Solid Chair
Color: Black Fabric/Mesh
I am 500 lbs and 6 ft. Tall. I’m not proud of this but want to be honest about my review. I’ve had this chair for 7 years and it’s still in great shape. I’d buy another in a heartbeat. I can move the arms up nd down. The seat is cushioned, and it’s solid. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a solid comfortable chair office who is tall and and or big. ... show more

  • A total winner- built like a brick "you know what".
Color: Black Fabric/Mesh
This chair is big, comfortable, and will stand up to a lot of abuse. Without question it can take the rated weight, and the air piston works like a champ. I play guitar, and with the arms able to fold up- this chair is really great for that as well. Overall assembly was easy, I was able to put it together without any assistance- but it is a big chair, so you may find it easier with a little help. After many attempts to buy a decently priced Big and Tall chair from the office supply retailers- this one just killed it. Much higher quality, and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. ... show more

  • Great chair... but one thing to know
Color: Black Fabric/Mesh
Update 09.24.2018: I waited for a week or so for the numbness in my right pinkie finger side to subside before installing the right arm again and testing it out. I have a new mouse pad and I have used it for literally hours at a time as I work in a virtual call center environment at home. I reinstalled the right arm and tested it out. In literally the next less than 3 minutes the same spot began to tingle again. Once I put the arm up as to take it out of the way and went back to the way I had it... the numbness went away. I know it's not me...lol. It is definitely the right arm that is not adjustable. However, the chair is still comfy. I work 5 hours a day like a bump on the chair (lol) with only a 15 minute break and at times I don't even conciously know I am sitting down in the chair. So at least that part is still functioning the way it should. For the way my left arm rests mostly my left elbow takes most of the real estate and so far no problems with my left arm going numb. In all retrospect, I am not even close to 500lbs and I am thankful for that. I cannot imagine carrying an extra 200lbs. If that was the case I would be thankful that the chair was built so sturdy. However, I cannot speak for those who are "really" of noble girth. :0) Original Post PROS: - First of all... a really comfortable chair. I am a left leg amputee and have gained considerable amount of weight. When I go to sit down in this chair I feel as safe as a "King" in his castle". This is definitely a sturdy chair>>>> I know this because I accidentally dropped the seat not realizing how heavy it was... all 25-30lbs. of it slipped out of my hands and onto my Right big toe. (Yikes!...but don't worry... I am okay... just some bruising and no broken bones.) - Love LOVE the memory foam for the seat! I bought this chair because I am a work from home customer service agent. I can sit for my entire 5 hour shift without even noticing I am sitting down. - Bought the chair because of the lumbar feature. It is definitely big enough for me, and sturdy. (I would assume for most) I have had to mess with it a little to get it "perfect" for me, but helps you sit straighter-er ...okay...okay for you grammar sticklers...helps you sit more ergonomically. CONS: - PRO/CON: There is a way to uninstall the arm without losing integrity of the back seat. All you have to do is use the same Allen Wrench to unscrew the two hex screws in the middle. - The bad part about that: it looks either 1.) Ugly or 2.) a conversation piece...lol The reason for the comment is I "think" I remember now (after purchase...lol) that someone's arm went numb?... or it was because the arms are not adjustable? (Not going to hunt through the reviews to find it...lol) I am 5'11" and pretty tall in the torso. I am not sure if it would be a "deal breaker" for most, but I had to uninstall the right arm. a. ) Because the arms are not adjustable. b.) The lateral side of my hand and forearm...ok ok... from the tip of my right pinky finger all the way down about half of my right forearm turned numb after prolonged sitting. Now I use the mouse for my right hand so its not as a big deal... however, if I want I'll just have to rest my hand on my lap. Resting my hand on the table without an ergonomic mouse pad with a gel wrist pad, it wouldn't be doable. One thing I recommend is buying these if you have a longer carpet from Amazon: Office Chair Caster Wheels Replacement - Set of 5, No More Desk Roller Mat. Get Ultimate NO-SCRATCH FLOOR PROTECTOR with the Smoothest Riding Heavy Duty, Rubber Rollerblade Wheels for Hardwood Floors, Up to 600 lb. capacity, by OPTTICO 4.8 out of 5 stars - Amazon's Choice THEY ARE AAAAMAZINGLY AWESOME! I don't know if you have every rollerbladed... but this chair glides awesomely with those instead of the casters that came with it. I asked my brother who used to work as a professional carpet cleaner. He says just about no matter what you do to protect your carpet it is hard. Even though this product says you don't need a floor mat I am going to get one anyway. Enjoy your conversation piece (lol) - fryer ... show more

  • Tilt works but there is a trick to it...
Color: Black Fabric/Mesh
I'm 6'2' and this chair may actually bit a bit too big for me but I'll take that over too small any day. Build quality is excellent, no off odors and is made to last. The tilt function requires you to 1) Loosen the tilt tension knob on the bottom of the chair ALL the way and then sit in the chair and then 2) pull the raise-lower lever OUT away from the chair. You may have to jiggle it a bit as its locked down pretty tight for shipping. So to raise and lower you push the lever in to activate that function and to lock the tilt or release the tilt you pull the lever out while pushing back in the chair. Then just tighten the knob on the bottom to your desired level of tilt back. Happy sitting! ... show more

  • Strong Heavy Duty Chair, Inconsistent Quality
Color: Black Fabric/Mesh
I have now purchased 2 of these chairs. One has been great for over a year for my husband (over 400lbs). The second chair, I bought recently my myself (300lbs) and unfortunately I had to return it because it was so uncomfortable. Firstly, the chair itself is very large and sturdy even for my husband who is a big and tall guy. It is very roomy while being supportive and comfortable for long periods of time (gaming and working from home all day). The adjustable lumbar support is a nice feature. Other chairs have aggravated our back issues but this one does not. The arm and seat padding are very plush and haven't broken down with over a year of daily use. The fabric is durable but does attract animal fur and lint very readily. Having fully flip up arms is useful for pushing the chair all the way under the desk when not in use. OK, the chair I recently returned was a different experience. Out of the box, the chair had an extremely strong chemical, chlorine-like odor. It was so strong that I opened the window in the middle of summer to help air the room after 2 days. We did not experience this with the first chair. The assembly of the second chair was much more difficult than the first chair (I really think you need 2 people either way) because some of the bolts that the arms mounted to were misaligned. After much difficulty, we finally got it assembled and noticed immediately that the chair leaned slightly to the left and back. The whole left side felt weaker but given the success of our original chair we tried to make it work thinking it would settle out. Unfortunately, the slight tilt caused back pain after even a short time of sitting. Over the next few days, we tried tightening and loosening various bolts and even completely reassembled the top half of the chair to no avail. A level showed no flaw in the seat itself or the arms. The flaw was due to the back being attached to the misaligned bolts that connected the arms to the seat. As soon as you sat in the chair it felt like the whole left side sagged and dropped back. I was very disappointed that the quality of the second chair didn't match up with our expectations after having used the first chair for over a year so happily. I am now leery of ordering another chair from this manufacturer due to the inconsistency in quality. My review reflects of experience with both chairs. I would give the first a 4/5 and the second a 2/5. ... show more

  • Great Sturdy Chair.
Color: Black Fabric/Mesh
I am giving this 5 start on a provisional basis as I have only had the chair for a day. So cannot say how well it will hold up. That being said it is well designed and very comfortable. I am a big guy and always feel nervous when sitting in most chairs. Have had way too many break or tip. This chair is stable and solid. I feel very comfortable with it holding my bulk. Lumbar support is great. It does vary from barely there to what the hell were they thinking. The armrests are at a great height. That is why it is great that they can flip up out of the way. Only a couple of minor issues: packaging was not the greatest. 1) Decorative cover plates had two tabs broken because of how it was packaged. It did not keep them from going on and staying on so I did not consider it a big deal. 2) I was short to bolt covers out of the 4 it was supposed to have. Since I was not going to use them anyway it did not matter to me at all. They were however packaged with the cover plates that were damaged which is why I bring it up at all to emphasize the packaging being the only real negative. Lastly would gladly suggest if you are a big person that you should get this chair. ... show more

  • I now have TWO
Color: Black Fabric/Mesh
I HAVE ONE FOR OFFICE AND NOW ONE FOR MY HOME. Now I can be comfortable at home too. It is well worth the cost to have a chair I am comfortable in. Most important takeaway here is I am around 430 lbs (heavy and wide) and this chair works for me. I have spent $2,500 for a top quality desk chair in the past that fits me. This chair is not that chair but it works great, is wide enough, and padding so far is sufficient. The first one I have had for over a year and it is still going strong. Chair is well built. I am so far extremely happy with this purchase since given my size there is little out there that works for me and cheaper options just break in relatively short order thus not cheaper at all. I purchased the cloth option and not the fake leather option due to the fact that I read a review that said the fake leather starts peeling in a relatively short period and who needs that --- go with the cloth version. I highly recommend this chair and I was in no way sponsored to say this. ... show more

  • Fixed-position arms, a recipe for severe back and neck pain
Color: Black Fabric/Mesh
I'm a big and tall software developer who puts a lot of use into my office chair. Finding the right kind of chair for someone my size can be hard in the first place, but when you consider how frequently I use it, it's even harder to find something that meets my ergonomic needs, as every little defect can magnify itself into a major issue in a very short time period. While I had previously used Hercules series Big & Tall chairs, I had never tried a chair with the arms fixed to the back of the chair like this model. I was excited about the prospect of being able to flip the arms up when they're not in use, making the chair fit under a desk or table more easily, so I went with this model instead of my previous one, which had adjustable arms. In this case, it was a losing gamble for me. Because they're attached to the back of the chair rather than the sides, the arms on this chair sit easily 6-8 inches farther back than adjustable arm models. If you're genuinely the kind of big person who needs to be using a chair like this, the odds are high that while your arms *could* rest on a surface that close to the back of the chair, this wouldn't be comfortable, let alone for long time periods. What's more, because they're not vertically adjustable, if their fixed position is too low for you, you'll find yourself stretching in both the horizontal and vertical dimension just to rest your arms on the armrest. Realistically, this translates into not using the armrests at all to support your arms during everyday use. If you dangle your arms out in the air for long enough, relying solely on the support under your wrist to cushion the entire weight of your arms, you'll develop muscle tension and strain very, very quickly. I don't mean in a matter of months, I mean this strain will appear in a matter of *hours* of use, forcing you out of the chair on account of the arm pain, the wrist pain, and moreover the back and neck pain from the poor posture this configuration encourages. What gets me about this chair is that ostensibly, it's built for the people from about 350lb to 500lb. If you're under 350lb, you have many more options for chairs, and the farther down you get from that, the more your options open up. Yet in this target demographic, this chair seems to be a Big & Tall chair built for people who aren't really all that big and definitely aren't all that tall. I'd return it, but Amazon's kinda terrible when it comes to returning these big assembled items like this, so I'll probably just move it into the dining room or something, where its foldable arms and compact space will matter more overall than long-duration use. ... show more
