  • Nice simple heater
This product works well it turns itself on and off as a thermostat requires. It is a little noisy or flickering sound whenever they flame shuts down and whenever the flame takes off but acceptable. I would recommend this product to others who is looking for a inexpensive thermostat unit.

  • WARNING, FALSE ADVERTISING, THERE IS NO THERMOSTAT!!!
What they call a thermostat is really a throttle. It does not cycle on and off like a furnace or air conditioner. In fact, it does not look at temperature at all. This causes it to sputter and squeal continuously at all settings except PILOT and MAX. Yes, it's loud enough to keep you from sleeping and even scare game! A fixed orifice needs a fixed propane flow rate to burn smoothly. Apparently Flame King does not understand basic combustion science! I will be returning the thing needless to say. At least the Mr. Heater Buddy heater has a medium setting with its own orifice. ... show more

  • I love the safety features.
I love the safety features especially the gas cut off feature if the heater is bumped or knocked over it stops the flow of gas. I am not the most graceful of persons at times and I have two pups who follow me everywhere and they like to chase each other and wrestle so this feature was important to me. The second feature I really like is that it will cut itself off if there is not enough oxygen in the area you are using it in, since I use it in a relatively small area 8 x 12 foot storage area this feature is great too. ... show more

  • Right idea, just missed the mark
I figured I’d try this as an alternative to the buddy heaters I’ve used in box blinds for close to 20 years. I like the idea of a thermostat to turn heat on/off without having to move in the blind and the constant cycle from pilot to high to low and eventually back to pilot. The thermostat does work, but it apparently doesn’t open or shut quickly enough when working the LP supply - when kicking the heat on or off - it makes more noise than is acceptable in my application - it makes sort of a flutter/waffling sound as the gas supply isn’t sufficient for the heater element. A battery pack and an electric servo for the gas valve would greatly improve it. Heater throws lots of heat - build quality is a little suspect. Not what I was looking for, but it’s getting closer ... show more

  • Great heater for an RV -- better than Big Buddy
I bought this AFTER I had purchased I purchaed a Mr Heater Big Buddy. The Big Buddy was fine, but it did not have a thermostat. The Flame King has a Thermostat so the heat is regulated to a comfortable temperature. With the Big Buddy we just roasted. Definitely get the Flame King!!!

  • Works great in my 5th Wheel
I bought this because my Mr. Heater was too big, 20,000 btu's. Ive been looking for a heater this size with a thermostat all winter too supplement my furnace heat. My Mr. heater would cook you out every time it came on at 15 ft away so this heater is perfect and gives me more room. I used an adapter to run it off a big tank also. I read reviews saying this heater can't be used inside. Of course it can, just use it. Unless you're using it in a small room thats airtight you will be fine. I haven't seen an airtight rv in my life. Iv'e used radiant heaters in homes for emergencies also, power outages, broken furnace, etc. All radiant heaters work the same. Some might have a low oxygen sensor is the only difference I can think of. After using the for awhile the plastic bottom broke in several places and the most the feet fell off. The thermostat or gas valve doesn't open all the way and I get a partial flame and is really loud. I have to turn it up or down so I dont have to listen to it when it sounds like a blow torch. ... show more

When you finally get it set right, it is a good asset

  • NOT INDOOR RATED
When the Thermostat gets ready to turn the heat off it does it very slowly causing the heater to sputter, ie., incomplete combustion; NOT a good thing. When it comes back on from Thermostat off flames actually shoot up out of this heater. Not a good thing if a pet happened to walk in front of it when the Thermostat kicked it back on. As others have stated the tiny rubber feet were about to fall off. If they had left the Thermostat out of the unit and used better rubber feet then this heater would be a good competition for Mr. Heater. The way it is, it is dangerous. I am replacing with a Mr. heater Buddy Heater. ... show more
