They seem quite sturdy so far. Very sharp and the metal blades are of a solid feel. There''s weight to these, but not too much to hinder use. Impressive old school style and build. These shears are not as heavy duty as I'd hoped. I purchased them to cut back monkey grass and perennial plants after their seasons are done. They cut ok in fairly small bunches, which takes longer. I had hoped they could handle more at a time.

I bought this back in 2009, At that time I used it very little and it has been hanging in my garage. I now need something to clean up the spaces in my walkway and sidewalk. A spray with WD-40 and it worked well. I have vines and tiny starter tree sprouts that I could clip out as well as some weedy grasses. Additionally, another review mentioned grabbing a weed and pulling it out by the roots using this. After a storm, I was able to do that with some vines at the edges of the walkway. ... show more
