  • really nice great value
Color: Black Material Type: 1200D nylon
This is made really well. Rugged and strong. The 2 main compartments are large enough for utility lure boxes and extras. Plenty of pockets for your STUFF. My only issue is the shoulder straps are too big and don’t have enough adjustment to close small enough. I had to fold them over and sew them to take up the slack. ... show more

  • Exceptional quality, great design elements!
We have gone through numerous types of backpacks over the years, and I have to say the quality of this one is up among the better ones we've had. When I saw that it is 900 denier (the most I've ever had in former packs was 600 denier), I knew the weight would be substantial. Nylon is also stronger than polyester, so this is a win-win combination for a pack that should be able to withstand a lot of use. All of the tabs are sewn well into the seams, all the seams are bound with another layer of durable material, and the plastic hooks and buckles are decent, same for the webbing of the adjustable straps. I'm 5'3", so I can't pull it snug enough to my back, but I have professional sewing skills and can shorten them adequately if I would just use this myself. There are taller guys in the family, though, so I plan to leave it as is for now. I love all of the pocket designs and can see this being used for more applications than fishing. My trekking poles will fit into the closures for fishing poles, and the extra long pocket on one side would be useful for flip-flops necessary when crossing streams, etc, the top pocket above the hood for quick first-aid supplies (or sunglasses as advertised), and multiple configurations for clothing and miscellany in the main body. While a good day pack for hiking would include a padded waist belt, this one would still be decent for shorter treks. My son likes stream fishing in the mountains, but I'm not sure I would ever join him because there are sometimes water snakes to contend with. The main reason I really wanted this was for packing my camping cookware, though. I'm tired of using plastic bins and/or open totes just to carry supplies from home to car to campsite and back again in reverse. I have some collapsible and nesting cookware, none of which are the weight of kitchen pots, so this pack would be more than adequate to haul them on short jaunts, as well as to store them between meals at a campsite. The long side pocket would be great for long handled cooking utensils. The only issue I have seen is the divider within the pack. I still haven't figured out the best way to attach the velcro so that it sits flat enough. It's probably not a big deal once you have "stuff" inside, especially fishing tackle boxes, etc, and I can always improvise if the need arises. I will have fun playing around with my options once I remember where I put my camping gear; I think it's divided in several places between shed and garage, so the weather is getting warm enough to pull everything out to reorganize. This pack will definitely get used with confidence for what I want it to do. Great product design, materials and construction, with an affordable and reasonable price tag. I expect it to wear well over a long period of time. ... show more

  • Shoulder straps are HUGE and need to be cut and re-sewn !
Color: Camouflage Black Material Type: 1200D nylon
I love the glasses holder on top, the zippers don't seem really robust and are not very smooth .... a little gittery but if I'm very careful they shoud last me a good while. The Big hangup is the massively huge shoulder straps !! I'm 5'8" 165lbs and this is adjusted as tight as it can go, I will have to cut off maybe 8 inches and sew the strap back on. Very disappointed that this big error was not taken care of .... I don't have a sewing machine so will have to get some carpet thread and buy a thimble to pust the needle through the heavy strap..... maybe some glue also to make sure it stays secure. I live by myself at 74 and am annoyed that I have to fix this by myself ...... but I like the dang pack the way it's setup, it's perfect for surf fishing. ... show more
