Best live plant LED fixture on the market
Size: 36"
Review Image by Apex Aquatics Apex Aquatics
I cannot stress enough how much we love these light fixtures. Metal, sleek, discreet, bright, highly programmable, reliable, and durable are a few of the many adjectives I would use to describe these lights. We use these fixtures on all of our freshwater live planted tanks as well as order them for our clients when getting them set up with new equipment. Below I will highlight some key pros about these lights (note: there are no cons) Pros: The Lighting - These lights are bright at their highest setting, and plenty strong enough to reach the lowest parts of most tanks (no PAR values though, sorry!). With the customization built into the remote and 24/7 functionality, they can be set to an incredibly wide range of color wavelengths as well as intensities to suit your tanks needs. This makes it very easy to make adjustments to combat algae growth over time. The 24/7 Function and Remote: - Simple to set up, reliable lighting. With other lights, I have had issues with their timer settings using the small boxes integrated to the cord. In power outages, those ones will reset and not turn back on until you manually do so and will need to reset the timer. That is not the case here. Using the remote, you can set the lighting intensity and colors with the touch of a button for every 3 hours, which will then slowly transition to each set value throughout the day. When power goes out, the settings are saved and the lights will pick up where they left off. All you need to do is set the current time, since the light will think it is still the time of the power outage. Its simple and amazingly reliable. The Quality: - Made from high quality aluminum, these fixtures are durable, sleek looking, and lightweight. While they are not made to be hanged from the wall or ceiling, their lightweight nature and slim design make it easy to fashion up a simple mounting system without fear of it falling due to weight. These lights are made to last, and Finnex has been a fantastic brand for years. With so many other brands popping up (the ones with the odd "Amazon Names"), you need to know that these guys are the real deal. I have used their fixtures on all of my personal tanks for over 15 years now, and some of my original fixtures still work to this day, albeit slightly dimmer than they were out of the box. I know every time I buy one of these lights that it will work out of the box, is easy to set up and program, and will work for many years to come. Discovering Finnex when I did has led to incredible success keeping live plants. If that wasn't enough to sell you on this light fixture, then please see the below final thought: BUY THIS LIGHT RIGHT NOW, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! ... show more

SLIM LIGHT BUT HARD TO PROGRAM
Size: 36"
Pros: Made In Taiwan, Slim, Bright and Good Quality. Cons: Remote control must be closed to the light in order to operate and hard to tell the time when the light will be on and off. No exact time. Behind in technology. I purchased Fluval 3.0, the programming is very simple and easy using Bluetooth and Apps. The light turn on and off at the set-up time. The price is double but easier to program. ... show more

Pretty good
Size: 46.5 - 48"

As I suspected these are not so bright to outshine the 4 foot T-8 tubes I had on my tank. So I bought two and even then it’s a close call and probably not as bright still. A single remote does work with both lights and I was able to program them at the same time so that’s nice. The remote is pretty simple with included instructions. I do like the broad spectrum over FL tubes and I like how sleek they are over FL fixture. The cycles are nice as well in that my fish don’t have to be blasted full light every morning like they have been over the years. Now they can ease into it. That’s nice. If you’ve got a deep tank like my 120 gallon one isn’t going to penetrate. You’ll need two, and perhaps a 3rd if you have high light requirements. I like them, and good bang for the buck. ... show more

Great light for plants - nice colors
Size: 30"

For a regular 20 gallon, the 30 inch long light is perfect, plenty bright. I'm rating the light based on my previous one that died after 5 years of service, growth was good for plants and the 24/7 feature, albeit kinda confusing to set up at first, gives a great lighting and mood light for the aquarium. One of the plusses is that you don't startle fish when turning the lights on since it's a very slow cycle ... show more

One of the nicest low cost lights I’ve bought
Size: 20"
Review Image by Andrea krier Andrea krier
The media could not be loaded. I really love this light. It is very bright, and makes the tank look crisp. It has a very smooth transition for the 24/7 mode as I show in the Reveiw video. Ontop of that the design is extremely sleek and eye appealing. Much nicer than the other lights offered on Amazon with the low sitting brackets. The light is thin and brackets are clear which makes it look very nice on a rimless tank. It seems to be bright enough for the plants but we will see how that goes. All in all would buy again. ... show more

Nice affordable entry-level light
Size: 30"
I've had this for a year and a half now, so far so good. Bought this when setting up a tank for the first time in over ten years. Fish tank and lighting tech has come a long way since I last tried to have a planted tank. I didn't want to spend too much not knowing if my new tank would be successful. At first I probably had it on too bright and the programming can be a little intimidating, but I learned more about the spectrum and growing plants while trying to set up this light. I now use an external timer, mostly because of power outages in my area causing the schedule to be off. I have not been gentle on this light, it has taken a few falls, at least once into the tank (I promptly pulled the cord and let it dry a few days before turning it back on) and several times off the tank. If I have a complaint about this light it's the fiddly supports. I might try to hang it from the cieling. Most of the plants I've grown are pretty basic, anubias, cryptocoryne, dwarf sagittaria, ludwigia but I have a tiger lotus plant too. The spread of this light is not that wide, I see some people have doubled them up, but I think the narrower light works well for my fish so they can hide in the back when they want. Also, when I have the light towards the front my sponge filters in the back are less noticeable. I looked up my order to see when I bought this because I saw a fancy expensive light and was thinking of kicking it up a notch, and I was surprised by some of the reviews so I thought I'd share my experience. ... show more
