  • Any ghost hunters?!
Model: Finder S1
Ok, maybe that's not the real purpose of this but maybe it does work for that too. I've been testing this around and here's my take. It does what it claims. It identifies, by thremal energy, and reflected in colors, heat or cold. If you see the oic, yes, my cat, and the spot she left a minute before on the left corner of the pic. You xan choose what type of color you'd prefer. This connects to your phone, ctype. Some settings maybe more sofisticated for us normal geeks, but some trial an error will give you a good understanding. I have a thermal camera and the takes between this and that, are basically the same, the fact that the picure is taken through the phine does help with resolution for the raw options. Make sure you set the app to store the images to the phone. Will certainly go somewhere spooky to test it since it does take bith cold and hot temos, we'll see and will update. Love that it comes with its protective case. For what you get it's reasonable but it's awesome.if you get it with one of those discounts! ... show more

  • Easy setup, looks quite nice, drains the battery
Model: Finder S2
Setting this up was a breeze. All I had to do was scan a QR code that came with it, which led me to an app to download, which paired easily with the device. Installing is a strong word for how you set this up, you just plug it in. If your phone has a case, like mine does, you will likely need the included USB c extension. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy s25 ultra in an OtterBox defender. It definitely needed that extension. The image quality is quite good for this. It's not the absolute best of the best, but it's considerably better than the low end stuff. The image is much clearer and crisper than it is on some of the sub $150 thermal imaging devices. One feature I wish this had is the ability to draw lines around objects. That's typically found on lower resolution thermal imaging devices. This technically doesn't need it, but it is nice to have. You can change the color to literally anything you want. It has plenty of pre-made color spectrums, or you can choose any two colors and it will use them as a gradient to show you the different temperatures. If you want pink to be cold and green to be hot, go for it. The only technical glitch I've had with it is probably something to do with Android 15. For some reason, for the first few times I used it, it repeatedly asked me if it could open the camera. Now it just does it, instead of asking for permission every single time. I haven't changed a single permission setting. The one issue here is that it drains the battery. Like I said, I have a Galaxy s25 ultra. That is not an old phone. It's only a couple months old. It has a 5000 mAh hour battery, and it is in perfect condition. This drinks between 1/4 and 1/3 of the battery per hour. That's a lot. Now, part of that is the fact that it's using both the camera and the screen. The other part is definitely the device that it has to power. This device has no battery of its own, so it constantly drains the phone's battery. This isn't really a deal breaker, but it is certainly something to know. There is no usb-c pass through on this, so you can't charge your phone while you are using it. There are ways around that. You can get a USBC hub that gives you extra USB c ports on the bottom of your phone. That way you can plug in maybe a power bank and this at the same time. Obviously that is going to make your phone quite cumbersome. Generally, you're going to be unplugging this and plugging in either a charger or a power bank, depending on where you are. Draining the battery that quickly obviously wears the battery out too. So the device is nice, just be aware that it drains the battery of your phone quite quickly. ... show more

  • Light weight, handy, and easy to use.
This a great value for the money. Still working out how to use it to its full capability but attached some quick "out of the box" scans. The first shows a bad door seal, the second is where insulation isn't extended over the plate in the wall. The third is where insulation has failed in the wall.

  • Works great ... sort of
Model: Finder S1
When I first plugged this in I was excited to see the contrasts between the warmer objects and the cooler parts of the house. I had my oven and stove on, and they showed up great. My daughter had fun looking at our dogs using it, and seeing them show up as "hot." But then I turned the camera toward my computer chair, which was unoccupied all day and should not have registered any differently than the desk behind it. Yet it showed as being one of the warmest objects in the room. I tried different distances, different angles, but nothing changed. I just thought to myself, if a chair could trigger a false reading, what else could? And if I am relying on this to identify spots in my house that may need insulation, will I be wasting time and money? It is an expensive novelty, but I cannot give it more credit than that. ... show more

  • easy to install and configure
Helpful when measuring hotspots on PC components. Really easy to install and configure on Android. Also very helpful when identifying temperature fluctuations in HVAC system. The app has the ability to draw a virtual line on the screen to identify the average temperature over a distance.

  • Great Thermal sensor for inspecting
Model: Finder S1
The media could not be loaded. The Finder S1 thermal camera has been a great tool for my DIY and home repair projects. It plugs right into my Android phone via USB-C and instantly gives me a clear thermal image, making it easy to spot hot or cold spots around the house or in the car. The resolution is solid for the price, and the enhanced imaging feature makes a noticeable difference. I also like that it doesn’t need charging since it runs directly off my phone and lasts for hours. Lightweight, accurate, and easy to use, it’s a smart addition to any toolbox. ... show more
