Filter does not tend to disappoint with their kits. I love that this kit comes in a nice, soft top zippered case with a rubberized handle. There are plenty of needles too, liner/shader combo. Lots of ink and I appreciate the different sizes of ink caps: small, medium, large. Other brands would usually just give you small baggy of one size or mixed sizes. There is one large sheet of fake skin, 3 mm thick, a pair of gloves, etc. this is a decent sized kit for a small price with a strong machine that also features adjustable needle depth and two batteries chargeable by USB-C. The machine operates strong, but is on the thicker side especially with the grip. It feels sturdy in the hand and runs on the quiet side w/ hardly any vibration felt. This would be best for people with larger hands. Though I do not have larger hands, I can still operate it fine. I just think that people with medium sized hands and under might experience more hand fatigue while trying to handle this thick grip. Personally it’s not my cup of tea due to the thick grip but this is a good bang for your buck compared to others.

This Filter X40 Tattoo Gun Kit is a really interesting machine with some standout features, but it also has some noticeable drawbacks. Some of the features are: 7 Adjustable Stroke X40 tattoo machine with 7 strokes length options of 2.0mm, 2.4mm, 2.8mm, 3.1mm, 3.4mm, 3.7mm, 4.0mm. It has an advanced drive system ensuring a quiet, smooth, and precise application. The custom no snag motor allows the needles to glide through thicker skin preventing pulling. The cordless design allows flexibility and even allows you to get into tight spaces. I absolutely love that it has a memory function for retaining my favorite settings. It makes picking up where I left off quick and easy or starting the next client quicker. The built-in timer is another fantastic feature for keeping track of sessions without needing to constantly glance at a clock. I also appreciate that the kit includes an extra battery along with everything else you need to get started, which makes it a great value for apprentices or new artists. The machine itself is extremely silent and has virtually zero vibration. It’s so smooth that I actually had to double-check if it was even running the first time I used it. That quiet operation is amazing, because I can actually hear and talk with clients without the constant buzz found in other machines. The tattooing performance is smooth, with ink transferring consistently and cleanly. That said, there are a few issues that make this machine difficult to use. The first thing I noticed right out of the box is how big around the machine is. I’m very petite, and it’s tough for me to get a secure grip even before wrapping. While it’s not overly heavy compared to some other machines, I could see it becoming tiring for longer sessions, especially for smaller-handed artists. The biggest issue by far is the battery performance. Both batteries drain extremely quickly, even when the machine isn’t running. Within just a couple of minutes, I see a 5% drop, which seems to be the average consistence and after about 20–30 minutes, the battery is completely drained down to zero. On top of that, one of the batteries keeps shutting off after just a few minutes of use even on a full charge. This makes it very hard to rely on this machine for sessions especially long ones. All that being said, the value of this set is wonderful. You get a complete kit with everything needed to start tattooing without breaking the bank. I’d recommend it more for apprentices or new artists, especially those with larger hands who won’t struggle with the size. For beginners, the short battery life may not be as much of an issue during practice. Overall, this kit has excellent features and potential, but the battery performance and machine size are real limitations. If those issues were improved, this could be a truly outstanding tattoo machine.

Still consider myself a beginner, I've been fiddling with tattooing at home on myself for six months, this review is in comparison to one other tattooing gun I've used previously to this product. First off the case is very robust and not flimsy and jam packed with everything if I had nothing to begin with to start tattooing right off the bat even including a large practice skin, 8 sealed inks with mixing ball in them to completely mix the ink inside before using, three bags of ink wells in two sizes, gloves, a couple of transfer sheets and the gun itself with two powerhouse batteries and charging cord and 4 different needle five packs, anything you want after this is just extra, seriously opening the case and picking a needle of preference, choosing your choice of color, filling your ink well, turning on the precharged battery on the tattooing machine, filling your needle and you are tattooing!. This machine is noticeable heavier and more rounded where i handle and grip it from which was slightly concerning at first but after turning on and actually using it's got balance your wrist unknowingly uses and even with my smaller female hands after a hour of using the practice skin i felt comfortable and not as taxed as I anticipated. I barely touched the battery life, that's with it sitting on for a couple of 5 minute breaks while I shifted through images on gallery of templates. I was easily able to control any direction I wanted and while some moments my lines were unsteady it was totally my unsteady hand and the weight and again balance of my grip actually helped me achieve better control then the lighter machine i previously was using. Turning off and on again and again and using in bursts for a sample, putting it on standby, doing another, all and all I've still got 82% battery life! I haven't touched the iceberg of a all and all straight out big piece that would take hours, which i totally believe this one single battery could achieve all by itself but low and behold they included a backup battery of the same caliper. I'm glad i received this product, I'm endorsing it to you to use, it's easy to adjust speed and offers a excellent delivery system for any and all of your inspiring ink art, just open the case and get started at a budget friendly beginner kit that's more professional level.
