I have an older version of this light that I love, but I like this one even better. USB-C charging, brighter light, and flood and spot instead of just a general use spot beam are all nice improvements, but the red light may be the biggest one. In the older version the red light mode was almost unusable because it was too dim. This one is actually bright enough for you to move around and do basic tasks with. It's nice for hunting or anytime you need just a little light but don't want to ruin your night vision. I guess I shouldn't understate how great the flood settings are. It is fantastic for any work, or general close up lighting needs. Very bright uniform light, with a very natural color temperature. The switch is large and easy to press, but won't get pressed accidentally. You hold to turn on spot mode, and then click through settings on it, then hold to turn off. You double tap to turn on the red and flood mode, and click through its settings the same way. You hold again to turn off. I was recently trying to help a buddy run a 100K by pacing him at night, and used the light on a lower flood setting all night long. The battery life is pretty insane, possibly because of the 5000mAh 21700 battery with protection circuit that is included with the light. I was glad to have it. As a light junkie, I highly recommend these lights, and look forward to seeing what they make in the future. If something happened to this light I would order another one immediately. My son requested this Fenix headlamp to replace an old headlamp for work as an electrician. He is pleased with the brightness of the lamp and likes the lightness of the gear and the fast charging batteries. It should last many years.

I use this headlamp for night work every week. We move our chicken coops at night, and the light is great. It lasts for all of the move, and all of the week. I've used other brands over the years, and I really like this one. The low light feature works amazingly well, and lasts for a very long time. The beam reaches out plenty far to see at night.     • My new favorite when working at night or in dim areas
Really like this thing. Used to have a big problem straining to work at night on various things, or even things like attics or other tight spaces. Wow this is a game changer. Wish I looked into something like this way sooner. It is EXTREMELY BRIGHT on the high spot mode, and very good on the flood mode. I use flood mode most of the time since it is way bright enough. Usually I use on the 2nd highest flood mode. Provides plenty of light. I also really like the red light mode, which is why I got this specific model. I use it for flying during night operations. If your cockpit could use some more light, instead of building in more lights look into something like this to save money. Helps tremendously giving you great illumination and preserving your night adjusted eyes. Battery life is great, never been a problem. Easily gets what they advertise. The up/down adjustment is really nice, it has a nice positive click but only takes 1 hand to adjust. The weight is less than I thought it would be, never have noticed it while working. The only negative I can think of is the operation of it for the different modes. It is like a 1 button system, so it involves different timing of presses to change between Spot, Flood, Red, and the brightness levels. I really enjoy this headlamp. It feels well balanced and sits nicely on the head. I like the varying brightness of it, and the battery life is excellent. I also like being able to charge it through usb c. I was skeptical of the light being able to turn up and down the way it is set up, but it is excellent in design and hasn’t given me any issues. My one complaint is it is a little less intuitive to switch between light modes, and turn on and off. It is growing on me and I’m sure I’ll get used to it but still something to keep in mind. ... show more

    • This is a great headlamp!
Every time I order a flashlight of any kind, other than a Fenix, I end up disappointed and give it away. I even have bought a few more expensive lights and have been disappointed. At this point, I just start with a Fenix. It’s the perfect balance between price and performance. Every Fenix I have, is still working. This headlamp is super bright on high. The low setting will be great for inside a tent when a bright light isn’t needed. USB rechargeable is a must. The strap that goes over the top does have a quick release on one end. So, if you are wearing a tall hat (like a ski hat), you can remove that quick release and tuck that top strap into the side. I like that you have the ability to use it, or not use it, as needed.
