Buyer Beware! I ordered the Fender strings with the gold and white packaging and a large 45 on the front. Instead, I got the red and white packaging with the large Fender F on the front (again - this is the second time Amazon and vendor failed to get my order right). They SHOULD be the same, but they are not. I'm a professional musician and I've used both. The 45 package contains great strings for the price. I've used several sets of them and I've never been disappointed because they sound great. The ones I received (red and white package in the photo) are inferior. They never sound good, and I can tell the difference as soon as I put them on and try to tune them up. I play a high quality Martin EA bass, so it's not my guitar. It's the strings. Amazon says seller won't give a refund. I say boo! Will not order again. ... show more

I'm primarily a sax player, playing bass for only six months, so my opinion doesn't come from a lot of bass playing experience. That being said, these new bass strings seem a little brighter than the ones that came with the bass. This is probably good, because it's an acoustic guitar bass that's not real loud. Restrung a Dean EAB that had lightly played factory strings on it. The bass sounded good as is, but when I played through an amp at church, the attack was way too bright. I read a few reviews about phosphor bronze strings and decided that I'd give these a shot. These new strings made a WORLD of difference. Vibrant and warm, I noticed a HUGE difference in tone. I mounted these strings on a very inexpensive acoustic practice bass that came with low quality strings. The difference was quite amazing. These strings can be a bit noisy under your fingers (as most bronze wound strings can), but a little practice on your technique and that can be easily overcome. I really like the warmth of their tone and the way they can still be assertive with the right right hand finger work. ... show more

the bronze part of the E string kept unwinding itself when i was trying to string it. Finally had to just cut that entire part of the string off. Once i got the string on the bass and started tuning it, the bronze part was once again unwinding itself from the string. and after playing the strings for 20 minutes, your fingers are covered in some black marks. ... show more
