Fellowes Powershred 60Cs is an excellent machine and Fellowes makes great products. You need to know that this is a heavy machine/shredder. All the weight is located at the head of the shredder on top of the bucket. The bucket is plastic and weighs nothing. Removing the head from the bucket is difficult due to the weight. When the head is removed from the bucket it drops small pieces of paper everywhere. If you do not position the machine in a comfortable place to empty it you can knock the bucket over while removing the head and make a huge mess. Their has to be a better way or a lighter machine. After serving in the US gov't for 20 years I was spoiled by the expensive shredders used in classified areas. I prepared myself to be a little disappointed in one built for home use. But not at all!! I was very pleasantly surprised. Would highly recommend it!! I plan to keep the blades well lubricated and think that may be the key. This shredder has been quite a let down. It is programmed to only allow 3 minutes of shredding before initiating a 40 minute cool-down timer that can't be skipped. Which is probably a good thing because by the time you hit about 2 minutes of shredding the motor is barely able to shred a single sheet, doing so at a greatly reduced rate. It even sounds strained just running without cutting by this point. As for 6 sheets - you would have to do them when the unit is fresh - and even then I doubt it could shred 4 sheets without coming to a stop. 3 sheets barely goes thru. Lastly - it is supposed to shred vertical and horizontal. I am getting some strips that are cut long ways, but not horizontal as well. I guess if you only need to shred a couple things at a time it will do fine. But if you let your shred pile grow for a while then try to knock it all out at once - good luck. ... show more

    • Safe Sense feature malfunctioned - and paper slot too narrow

This shredder was a real disappointment and I had to return it. The first time I used it, it worked just fine. I didn’t care for the slot that you stick the paper in, because it’s very narrow and you have to get the paper lined up just right in order to feed it in, but I was willing to live with that. However, two days later, I tried to use it again, and the “Safe Sense” light was permanently on and would not go off no matter what I tried. When the Safe Sense light is on, the shredder will not operate at all. I emailed Fellowes support and they just said to try moving the shredder to a different location, as the Safe Sense light is sensitive to heat variations because it senses heat and thinks it’s your hand, so it turns off for safety. But moving it to a different location didn’t help. It would not operate at all, and it was very frustrating. So I returned it and purchased an Ativa brand shredder at Office Depot, which I am very happy with, not only because there is no Safe Sense feature to malfunction, but also because the paper slot isn’t as narrow as the Fellowes’ paper slot was, and therefore it’s much easier to stick the paper into. ... show more

    • Solidly built, SafeSense was a needed feature!

Needed a shredder to replace my aging cheapo model. Was familiar with the SafeSense feature from work, and was happy to find this model at a reasonable price. SafeSense was an absolute must for me to increase the safety when youngsters visit. I got tired of unplugging the shredder when we had guests. This model has a large capacity, and seems to handle paper well. I normally shred 3-5 sheets at a time, so I was happy with the 10-sheet "design" capacity, it had no trouble. As other have mentioned, it has a head unit that lifts off, so it is a little top heavy. I would have liked the door and internal basket but from work I know that is more difficult to clean out and it's going to cost twice as much. So I'm OK with this design, would definitely buy it again (I actually bought three, tired of doing all the shredding for my kids!) I also have not tried bags in there yet, but it cleans up easily. While this model seemed noisier than I expected right out of the box, it seems to have settled down now and is tolerable. Planning to oil it regularly and that may quiet it down a bit. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase, seems solidly build, and I expect it will last for a while. ... show more

Still working after 15 months. Groans and slows down if I feed it more than about 4 standard sheets. The top is heavy and cumbersome to lift when getting access to paper bin, which is small. I recommend lining it with a plastic kitchen-size trash bag to capture and contain shreds. When the shreds pile up high enough, the head draws them back up and tends to jam. It can be difficult to clear. Most recently the jam caused the heads to seize. Had a devil of a time clearing the feed slot, but eventually got it running again. ... show more

    • Don't waste your money!

**UPDATE** I have downgraded this shredder to 1 star in that after I finally got the previous jam unclogged, it clogged 4x worse just days later.... even after only feeding it 1 page at a time! Even after unscrewing the cover to more easily get it unclogged, I was not successful and was unable to clear it. Soooo very frustrated with this shredder after only having this less than one year. It will be going in the trash. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! It’s a p.o.s. 😤 The only reason this shredder gets 2 stars is because paper does get shredded well. HOWEVER, even when you feed 1 page at a time, the shredder clogs VERY easily and you end up spending more time trying to unclog it than you do actually shredding the paper. Currently the shredder has a clog above the teeth (where you feed the paper through) as opposed to underneath where the paper comes out. Until I can figure out how to get this clog cleared, the shredder is unuseable. Im so frustrated. I would never recommend this shredder or would I ever buy it again. ... show more
