  • Great job of micro-shredding
Style: 6 Sheet Micro-Cut
This item is exactly as pictured on Amazon's page. I received it 2 days after ordering (free 5-day shipping) - 3 days early. Everything works perfectly and there was no damage in shipment. Mine was shipped USPS. This does an excellent job of micro-shredding plain paper (letters; copy paper; utility statements; other invoices). Also excellent at micro-shredding credit/debit/insurance cards. The only thing it wouldn't completely shred was a letter-envelope-size plastic sheet that insurance and some other plastic cards come in that you have to punch the cards out of - same plastic as the cards. Sometimes it only punches lots of shred-like holes in these, leaving them connected - like a chain-link fence. Sometimes it DOES completely shred them into micro pieces - go figure. When shredding paper only along with a few regular letter envelopes, it took 50 sheets before I had to remove the top and redistribute the pile of paper as it piled up directly under the blades like a pyramid and began blocking new sheets feeding through. After that I fed 6 sheets.. opened and pushed the shreds down.. 6 more sheets.. and so on until the basket was filled - I stopped at 75 sheets. Not bad.. I also have a Fellowes W-6C cross-shredder which has worked perfectly for over 7 years. The only problem with that one is the shredded pieces are long enough to become entangled in the teeth and just running it in reverse doesn't clear most of them, so I have to spend at least 10 minutes pulling out all the strips with a pair of tweezers. This new micro-shredder is way better in that the pieces are small enough to fall free from the teeth, but if you let the paper pile up under the shredder teeth (after 50+ sheets) they can feed back up into them - which is still not a big deal as reversing the cutter removes most or all of them and the next sheet you put through will pull them out no problem. I just spent 1 hour shredding and there were no problems at all.. I kept it running almost continuously with 10-second pauses between batches and it did not overheat. I like this shredder - I'm very happy with it. ... show more

  • Impressive
Style: 12 Sheet Micro-Cut
It is a fine shredder. Compared with my older shredder, this one definitely looks more refined, and it sounds much quieter too. As soon as I finished putting it together, I shredded the entire junk pile that I have been collecting since my last shredder broke months ago. It did not break a sweat. I am not yet sure if this is a good value at a price tag of 160 though - my last shredder cost only 50 bucks from Costco. Only time will tell how long this one will last. update in March 2022: I am still very impressed by this shredder and I feel compelled to come back to update;-). It runs ever so smoothly, it never gets stuck, it shreds so fine that it takes a long time to fill the bin, and did I mention it is very quiet? ... show more

  • this tiny unit is a champ
Style: 6 Sheet Micro-Cut
when i unpackaged it I though, where's the big brother? because this tiny unit cannot possibly be real or hold up over time. I was wrong. This baby is a champ. I had a lot of papers to shred and my old unit was much bigger and had lasted 6 years with lots of use so I guess I got my money's worth. My old unit was able to shred paper very finely for a half hour at a time and I had gotten it from Costto but did not shop for my new shredder there because they did not have any units of any kind currently, otherwise I would have repurchased that same unit. My paper shredder died and I started reading reviews in my price range (and no, $300-500 for a shredder is NOT my price range). I chose this unit, Fellowes 6M5 based on price but also on time it could keep eating paper before it needed a rest. I set a timer when I started my first box of shredding. I got 17 mins of continuous use before this unit needed a cool down. That is fully acceptable to me. The blades are sharp, the shred is fine, the feeder keeps input aligned well, and I can put plastic bags into the bin to make cleanup easier. This Fellowes shredder I am satisfied with except for the size of the bin but that's a personal preference. ... show more

  • I can't say enough good things about this shredder
Style: 12 Sheet Micro-Cut
I have had this shredder for a while at my day job and after seeing how well it did there I bought another for home and then we bought another one for my home office. it can shred a ridiculous amount of paper before being full enough to empty, is not loud at all, and has been the perfect solution for confidently destroying usernames, passwords and sensitive documents. ... show more

  • It's a Shredder! LOL
Style: 6 Sheet Micro-Cut
Not happy at the late arrival - It was delayed two days and then randomly delivered with no notice when I wouldn't be home. Therefore it sat outside. The shredder itself works great! It's small - but that's good for my size workload

  • Keep your schlong away from it
Style: 12 Sheet Micro-Cut
Just kidding, the safety features on this will prevent it from getting shredded even if you have a little tiny one. If you even get your fingers (or whatever) remotely close to the paper feed slot, it will not activate. Pretty slick. This unit has huge capacity. I've had it for 3 months and not needed to dump it. For context, my old crosscut shredder I have to dump every three weeks and it had a larger bin. I love the window cut into the front of the bin. With my old shredder, I had to remove the shredding mechanism from the top to check how high the paper had gotten. This one, a glance is all it takes and the bin slides right out the front. Mushroom stamp of approval. A+ item. ... show more

  • Good quality shredder.
Style: 6 Sheet Micro-Cut
Good quality shredder. Careful with what weight papers you are putting through it though. I had some 32 lb bond and was running 6 sheets at a time. It was struggling, but I figured...hey, it's rated for 6 sheets. Kept going. Heard a pop. These things have sintered metal and punched gears in them. I'm sure that one of them either broke or popped loose from a drive shaft, because I could hear something big and heavy rattling around inside after. Fortunately, it was replaced for free, as I had only recently purchased it, along with the extended equipment protection plan. I'm careful with paper weights and quantities of sheets now. Heavier paper = 4 sheets. Regardless, it's quick, and produces good quality micro shredding. Great for my worm compost bin. ... show more

  • Quiet and Quick!
Style: 12 Sheet Micro-Cut
Very quiet - smooth feeding of sheets and efficient operation. Might cost more than some others but in this case your money is well spent.
