Description

FELIWAY Optimum is a new, patented pheromone discovery, and is the best FELIWAY answer to help reduce the most common signs of stress in cats. It helps with more signs of stress, in more situations, and calms cats better than ever; it may help reduce scratching, urine spraying (peeing), tensions & conflicts among cats, general fears, and reactions to changes. This new discovery, backed by FFELIWAY's 25+ years of feline stress expertise, delivers advanced calming messages, helping your cats feel more comfortable at home than ever before. When surveyed, 93% of cat owners reported enhanced calming for their cats when using FELIWAY Optimum. This product contains 3 refills for the FELIWAY Optimum diffuser (diffuser head not included). FELIWAY Optimum's heated diffuser and refill provide calming pheromones continually for up to 30 days in a 700 square foot area. We recommend using an additional diffuser if the room is bigger than 700 square feet. We recommend plugging in the FELIWAY Optimum diffuser in the room where you cat spends the most time, or where conflict among your cats happen most frequently. Try not to plug the diffuser under items (e.g. shelves) or close to objects (e.g. behind curtain or doors) as this affects efficacy. We do not recommend plugging your diffuser in near your litterbox or in a hallway - while your cat may frequent these places, they likely do not spend as much time in these places as you'd think. If your litterbox is in the room where your cat spends the most time, you will want to plug your diffuser into that room. Use FELIWAY Optimum each month to create a constant calming environment. Check the diffuser and refills monthly; you'll want to replace the refill each month, and replace the diffuser head twice a year (every six months) to guarantee the best effect. Make sure to only use a FELIWAY Optimum diffuser with a FELIWAY Optimum Refill. The diffuser is not compatible with refills from other brands, and the FELIWAY Optimum vial should not be used with other diffusers. Never use a diffuser or refill of another brand with a FELIWAY product. Each FELIWAY Diffuser comes with a plug adapted to the local electric systems. Please do not use this diffuser in another country that has a different voltage or with an adapter: it may conduct serious security concerns. Make sure that your diffuser has the fitting plug for your country before plugging in.

  • Work so well
Size: 6-Pack
My daughter recently brought a stray cat home that she found at a park. We kept him in a separate room from our older female cat until we started to slowly introduce the two. I bought a few diffusers to put around the house after seeing two not getting along. Even after a week, I noticed a difference in the behavior of the female cat. She does still growl & hiss when he gets too close to her but it's definitely much less than before. They can peacefully cohabitate most of the time so it's easy to tell when I need to replace the diffusers. It's only been about 3 months, so I'm hopeful that it will continue to get better. ... show more

  • Calmer
Size: 6-Pack
We have 2 going male cats and they didn't fight nasty but they wrestled all day long and we scratching the furniture and jumping into tables and the counter tops. Ok with a little water squirt, snap of the finger and the word no helped a bit but once I plugged these in of say there was a fairly quick change. Even my husband said, they seem calmer. I've got 3 set up in the areas that they spend their time and where the furniture they like to scratching is. I believe these really work and I would highly recommend. The only thing I don't like is they are a bit oily and I hope they can change that asked so don't put under something or behind a curtain or furniture. Also it will take up both sockets as you won't want to put anything above it. I've worked around all of that because the benefits outweigh the negative. They are also more calm with people visiting, loud noises etc. I'm a believer. ... show more

  • Causing cat aggression
Size: 3 pack
In short: I'm pretty sure Feliway Optimum is causing aggression in my cats. From some preliminary searching, I found this is not uncommon. My Russian blue is the sweetest and smartest cat. Occasionally, he can get playful, and he will rough house a bit with my other two black and white cats who are brothers. They have never hurt, hissed, or growled at each other during any playing. The only time one of them hissed at the Russian blue was when he came back from the vet smelling like the vet. The B&W brother cats are 6 years old, and they were raised together from 5 weeks old with my older Russian blue who is 8 years old. The Russian blue has always treated them like his children, occasionally bathing them. They all get along. The reason I bought Feliway is because one of my B&W cats has a very anxious personality, and he most likely has stressed-induced feline idiopathic cystitis because he had some crystals in his urine and was having difficulty peeing. My vet said stress was the most likely cause and suggested trying Feliway for helping to ease his stress, especially since he needs to go to the vet soon for a checkup and immunizations. I had Feliway plugged in for one day, and on the next day my anxious B&W cat hissed at my Russian Blue for playing too rough, which isn't ever a thing with them. Then the other B&W brother cat started hissing and growling at my Russian Blue, too, as if to protect his brother. I thought maybe some kind of accident happened and someone got hurt, so I checked everybody out, but they all seemed physically fine. After an hour or so, they went back to being normal around each other. It's now been 5 days since I've had it plugged in, and the same thing happened just now. Only this time it was worse. I tried to separate them, but my non-anxious B&W cat started following me while carrying my Russian blue to another room. He was hunting him down to hiss and growl some more. I did get them separated for about 5 minutes and thought that might be enough to allow everyone to cool down, but it wasn't enough time. My non-anxious B&W cat approached the Russian blue and swatted him. So, I separated everyone again, and 5 minutes later, I thought I could reintroduce my anxious cat and Russian blue since it had been at least a 10 minute separation for them. My anxious cat was fine with my Russian blue, but my Russian blue starting acting like he was out to get my anxious cat. He stared at him for a few minutes, and I watched his behavior. I wasn't sure if he was just concerned and wanted to make up or maybe play nicely. But then my Russian blue finally attacked! He was very aggressive and my anxious cat hissed and tried to get away. I separated them all a third time, and kept them all separated until my Russian blue fell asleep about 10 minutes later. Everyone is doing okay now that he is asleep. I unplugged the Feliway, and I'm not going to use it ever again. I tried one cartridge 8 months ago and used it for the full 30 days, and they acted strangely then, too (but not as aggressive). This time was much worse, and I'm convinced Feliway is to blame. It is not a returnable item, so I was issued the refund and will probably donate the Feliway to a shelter if they want it. It may work for some cats, and Feliway did a small study that suggests that it does, but I definitely think it negatively affects my cats (or at least one of them which triggers the other two). There have also been some independent studies that say it doesn't work at all, such as this one: Conti LM, Champion T, Guberman ÚC, et al. Evaluation of environment and a feline facial pheromone analogue on physiologic and behavioral measures in cats. Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery. 2017;19(2):165-170. doi:10.1177/1098612X15621107 I've read from a lot of people it not only doesn't work, it has the opposite effect. Most of the reviews on here that are 4 stars and under say Feliway did not cause any noticeable differences, and some are saying it caused stress. I guess these people are giving Feliway the benefit of the doubt that it may work for someone else's cat, but they all should be rating the product as 1 star. The reviews seemed very skewed. ... show more

  • Best thing ever for cat people
Size: 48 mL
I cannot say enough good things about this plug in! I originally got one when introducing a new cat into my then two cat household. It worked wonders for keeping the stress levels down for all three of the kitties. I got another one when we moved to help the transition and it definitely helped keep them all calm in their new environment. Now I am down to just one kitty but she is a crazy one! I can actually tell when this runs out without even looking at the diffuser. She starts running around the house at full speed at midnight crying at the tops of her lungs. Plug in a new one and in two days she is back to her calm loving self. ... show more

  • No more stressed Kenny Cat
Size: 3 pack
Our male cat, Kenny started spraying and urinating in our laundry room. He shares a litter box with our other cat, Dolly. They have lived together for 4 years and Dolly hates Kenny, but other than hissing and swatting him, they have been co-habitating with no other problems. Thinking he had something physically wrong, we took him to our vet. No infections or blockages were found. It was finally determined by the Purdue University Small Animal Veterinary School that Kenny was “stressed”. They recommended the Feliway diffuser. It took a few weeks for us to see a significant change in his behavior. He will occasionally go back and urinate on the old spot. Usually because the diffuser is empty. We like to call it Kenny’s Cat Doobie😹 ... show more

  • These really work
Size: 48 mL
So, my cat has super bad anxiety. I try everything to make her calm. I set up little battery operated candles and play her music and make her hiding spots more comfortable. I let her feel my presence to let her know it’s okay. She finally lets me giver her a massage . I have tried for years on that. I try to just give her peace. Currently, we keep moving from hotel to hotel. Change is not very good for any cat. These really help so much. She stops crying and pacing. I am very thankful to have found this product. I suffer from anxiety so I know how horrible things can be. I know this is just a review but if you have read this far, support mental health awareness. It’s needed. ... show more
