Works Well! Read the directions carefully!

I bought 3 of the Feliway Multi-Cat Diffusers because it was recommended by pretty much everyone I talked with and did research with. I did a deep dive on all the reviews, and since most of them were positive I decided to go ahead and order them. We have 2 cats that we had just introduced to each other, and we had been at our wits end to try and get them to calm down. When the diffusers arrived, we plugged them all in. 1 of the 3 started smelling really weird, and we unplugged it and let it sit for a while. A few days later I noticed the liquid leaked out all over the outside of the bottle, and there was no liquid left inside it. We were able to return it no problem, and the other 2 plugins had absolutely no issues. Now when we talk about how well it worked, I did notice a change in the cats pretty quickly. It wasn’t huge, but it was a sign that it was working. We had also bought the Feliway Spray and would spray certain spots in the house and put it on the cats collars. So we were doubling up so to speak. The spray and the plugins DID work a bit, but it didn’t miraculously fix their relationship. Over time it seemed the cats got used to the smells as well and possibly were starting to build a tolerance to it. To be able to refill them, you DO have to buy individual refills. That wasn’t something we were wanting to do as that adds up with money, and it just wasn’t worth it for us. Be careful with how you hold the product, and make sure you’re holding it straight up and down otherwise it can spill and leak. Don’t plug it in around or under ANYTHING! I’ve seen reviews saying it ruined something or got on something, but the directions tell you specifically to not plug it in below or around anything. The product does get warm to the touch, as it heats up to be able to diffuse the scent. So please keep that in mind when handling it! Outside of the plugin we had to return, none of the working diffusers smelled praise God. I would recommend Feliway diffusers and sprays as they are likely to help at least a little bit, but keep in mind that each cat is different and can react differently to these products. I would say that this is a temporary fix rather than a full on fix. My mom and I pray over our cats, and that works wonders! ... show more

Worked so well we are buying more and trying other Feliway products.

I have a most senior girl had develops a serious disliking of her housemates. She would not tolerate them in the same Room for more than a couple of moments and would attack them fiercely. While they had no issue with her initially they then learned she was a threat and every once in a while would initiate a fight just to keep her from attacking them it seemed. She began to self isolate in our daughter's bedroom. Another of our cats over grooms, and the bedroom cat did that for a while as well. We put litter boxes in different places and food bowls in a variety of places. It helped avoid the worst of the run-in's but it did not solve the problem. I really did not want to put my cat on kitty prozac. I saw this and I saw that it works for some people very well but not for others. I know someone who uses the spray to help her cat feel comfortable going to see the veterinarian. I thought it was worth a try for under $30. We bought this starter pack. We live in a small town home and while the rooms aren't terribly large they are essentially on 3 levels so multiple diffusers would be necessary to give the entire home coverage. We put the 1st diffuser in my daughter's bedroom where our senior girl self isolates. We have seen things that for her are like miracles. She is tiny, but fierce, yet over the course of a couple of weeks we have gone from hearing an average of one altercation a day to none for many days. She started to come down the stairs a bit and recently has come all the way to the bottom! She tolerates our big Tom laying in "her" room with her, even right next to "her" bed on the night table. Not only is it amazing how much better she is doing, it's amazing that he is comfortable doing this. My husband also noticed the difference. We noticed a change after maybe 4 days or so and it has been improving steadily. While it may take a while for her to feel completely comfortable because she was so stressed, I want to treat the rest of the main living areas as well. My hope is that it will help my over-groomer, extremely anxious cat a bit as well. We have purchased another starter kit and will put it in the living room. I'm then going to add the classic version to both areas and add them both to the big litter Box area downstairs. I am hopeful that adding the classic version to many areas will help kind of boost the reduced stress environment. I am also going to get the spray to treat the areas where they most often nap like the kitty towers and window perch. Hit or miss, worth a shot to try

I had a cat who was chewing her tail off. The vet suggested trying this. I never believe in this kind of stuff and was shocked that the vet would suggest it but figured we would try it. We also had a cat we found as a kitten and is still a little on the "I do not trust humans" side of things. So we thought maybe that it would help both of them. This did not help either of them and ended up having to cut the cats tail off. Several years later we had two female cats and one male. We had a good dynamic between the cats they all got along well. I installed a large cattery where the cats could go in and out on their own. I put in a motion camera and could watch what they did. Things were fine in the winter but when it became summer there were other cats showing up and saw a cat spray the cattery. I think this broke the male cats brain. He then started trying to murder death kill my skittish cat. She spent her days hiding and hissing every time she saw him. All the cats love the cattery but was I afraid I would have to get rid of it to get my male cat back to normal. I decided to try this stuff again since it seemed to be a scent related issue that triggered his behavior. And I was desperate because I love the cattery. After about 3 days he started to calm down. His behavior towards the other cat improved and stopped chasing her. It has been working for months now. It took the one cat 3 weeks to forgive him but all is well now. ... show more

All the bad reviews are accurate

So first, the overheating problem. I thought maybe people just weren't plugging it in correctly and that's why it would get too hot. I did what another review suggested by buying a surge protector and plugging it into that. It still gets way too hot for my liking. So I only could keep it going for about 8 - 12 hours a day. Basically during daylight hours, when I was home. I thought the level of hot it got would be okay. It seemed to get as hot as my router does for my wifi. Which is hotter than any router I've ever had, but it's never gotten hotter than it does, nor caused any issues. So I thought maybe this would be similar. But after about 3 days of use, you can see the inside plastic starting to warp from how hot it gets. That's not safe at all! So imagine continued use, 24/7 how hot and melted that plastic will get and cause huge issues. So second, I did not have issues with it dripping like others complained about. I made sure it was completely upright and nothing under it plugged in. I made sure to screw the container in tightly and not tip the system in any way. I made sure to handle it always upright to avoid spilling. So thirdly, if the product works best leaving it on 24/7 and it can't be left plugged in due to potential over heating, then there's no point to buy this product until they do something productive about the problem so many are complaining about. I noticed no changes in behaviors of my stray momma cat I'm trying to calm down. She's flipping out to all the changes of being inside my home. I have 2 senior cats I'm keeping separate in the rest of the house, and keeping the momma in my living room. But they can see each other under the door. Not only is that flipping her out but I was told that neighbors are calling the humane officers on strays and that if I didn't want my cat taken away I should have her rabies tags on her when she's out. Welp, I haven't gotten that far into helping her. So she has no tags and can't until she's done feeding the babies. Which are only a month old. So point being, I've only been able to let her out at night. Which she saw a racoon and is now flipping out about being inside all the time, but also about going outside now. I really wanted this to work, but it's basically snake oil. I even tried rubbing it on my hands to let her sniff it since they claim it's like the pheromones momma cats put out. I thought maybe she'd calm and think I'm her momma cat. But it's not helping. She's still sitting meowing a bunch and panting like she's hyperventilating. I'm hoping once she gets spayed that will help calm her some. But clearly this stuff isn't going to help me out. Be warned, they don't allow returns on this. I figure the reason is, they know they are selling a defective product. So unless you have money to waste, just don't buy this. Waste. Use a Pheromone collar instead

I wasted $100 on 6 of these all around my house. I read the instructions and knew that the hormone wouldn't turn corners well, and shouldn't be hear a window, breeze or furniture. I bought enough so that all areas could be covered without having to turn corners to travel... My reason for using them was to stop an aggressive cat from attacking a scaredy cat. They did not work. By the way, people complain that they didn't last a full thirty days. Those people are your typical people that never read an instruction manual. In fact, its the first thing they throw away. I followed the instructions and placed them opposite and to the side of windows, and with no air blowing on them, they absolutley WILL last 30 days+. They don't really work...but they do last 30 days+. Anyway, upon plugging them in, for the first 24-48 hours, you will have a strong fire/smoke smell, just like when your heater comes on for the first time in the winter. However, it's more of a wood-burning smell. It made me sick so I had to stay away from them and not get near them. That dissipated, and they eventually only had a very faint smell if you lowered your head to them. As far as how well they worked, I did see a noticeable side effect in both cats. The scaredy cat hung out more in the open in her CLOSED bedroom. In other words, she was slightly less afraid and ventured out to the middle of the bed or floor. The aggressor cat started playing with toys, which I hadn't seen her do before. So, the hormone does give them a sense of well being. But, the aggressor, when put in the same room as the scaredy cat in supervised visitations STILL attacked viciously. So...fail. If you think about it, using these diffusers are not only expensive, but it's like bringing a sword to a knife fight. it's overkill and you don't necessarily get the result you want. Better to buy the Sentry Calming Collar sold here on Amazon and limit the hormone dissipation to being right under the cat's nose as opposed to forcing everyone in the house to breathe it. As for the collars, they use the exact same synthetic hormone but they too won't stop an aggressive cat (and my cat isn't really aggressive. She's a mild, scared-of-the-rest-of-the-cats sweet heart who only goes into attack mode when around one cat). These collars are best used to gently calm a cat that is going for a car ride to the vet or across country. They aren't safety collars and they are very hard to adjust, so better to do one of two things: 1. Cut off the hardware and then attach the blue medicated collar to a regular safety cat collar with bread twisty ties, or 2. Don't even put the collar on the cat. Just close the loop and throw it in the carrier with the cat or attach it around something inside the carrier of the cat. Much cheaper option as well. ... show more

I don't think this is a miracle product. I think this will work for some households/cats, and not for others, and there’s really no concrete way to tell without taking the plunge and trying it out. I got one even though I fully expected it not to work. But one of my cats was recently diagnosed with FIC and I’m trying to keep her stress level as low as possible. She’s my old girl and the two younger boys sometimes try to play with her, and she’s not having it. It’s created some mild hostility and I’ve been open to trying anything that might cause them to co-exist peacefully. After having one of these plugged in the living room for a while, I’ve gotten the cats to ignore each other. My cats have never been and will never be besties, and I’m totally ok with that. But this product seems to have helped them. They really don’t ever lay down this close and all purr, so this feels like a really nice peace treaty to me. (see photo) If your cats are, like, aggressively fighting or constantly stressing each other out, I don’t know that this product would make any difference. But if you’re trying to calm a multi cat household where there’s occasional roughhousing and annoyance between cats, I think this may help. It seems to have helped for me and my cat’s FIC flare up has disappeared (I do not attribute that to this diffuser, but to the lower stress levels in her). A Helpful Aid in Feline Integration

Gimmick

The reviews about the light being bright are wrong, it’s not bright at all (which I am fine with). I did not experience it getting hot either. It got no more hot then a glade plug in would.
