Wow! I was not expecting it to work so quickly. I’m amazed! I have an older cat and recently brought home a kitten. I know it’s going to take time for them to make a connection, and my older cat has been isolating herself for almost 3 weeks. I plugged in the Feliway and within an hour both cats were both hanging out together. Not best friends yet but a breakthrough. My older cat was back sleeping with me. I bought this for my 1 year old cat with behavioral issues. He was peeing on the bed everytime we would come back from a 2 day vacation (even though someone came to catsit). His brother doesn’t have this issue. We summed it up to anxiety after writing down the incidents and noticing the pattern. It’s been about 20 days of using this product and he’s doing good so far! I've used this product and bought multiple times during the life of my cat. Between moves, surgery, etc, I do feel it has offered some comfort. However, every unit I've ever bought has a burning smell after three /four days use. Doesn't matter the outlet type. I've been in two separate homes and both places with different units have the same smoulder smell after being plugged in for a few days. The company will deny there is an issue and says it must be user error. My units are never tipped, not leaking, but do have a plastic burning like smell. Research shows all over Reddit and other forums that many people noticed the smell and some have had the units catch fire. The instructions say it can get hot. Instructions are clear the units need replacement after a few months. There is even instructions about if you have a tester button on your outlet. I'm sure many people ignore these parts of the instructions. I've read and followed and I've never had it leak or catch fire but I definitely smell it get a smouldery plastic burn smell after a few days. So I'll take it out for a day and then plug in. I think the manufacturer should do better as I don't have issues like this with regular plug in air freshener. I've even heard of people taking old airfreshers from a different brand, put the liquid in an old washed container, and use that as a diffuser to avoid the burn smell. I wouldn't leave any plug in unattended because of the smell but there shouldn't be any reason for these to off put a smell or catch fire in first place imo. Does it work? I think it helps but be careful if you should leave it for long periods or if away on vacation. I'd like a none plug in option that wasn't a pump spray to be honest to avoid fire issues all together but I doubt the company would invest. ... show more

    • Dangerous Product with Deceptive Marketing

First a little background, we have five cats. One (Pete) has been blind since birth. His sibling Benjamin started getting a little to aggressive when they all played. Based on Feliways claim that it’s supposed to calm and reduce stress we bought a plug in. After a few days we noticed Pete started spraying everywhere. We immediately took him to the vet to make sure there was nothing medically wrong and they were 100% confident it was behavioral. We racked our brain for a few days and tried everything. Added more litter boxes, created more safe spaces, nothing worked. After exhausting all efforts we started thinking it may be the feliway, so we unplugged it. We put it in a bag and placed it outside far away from the house. We aired out the house and that was the last day Pete sprayed. A leather chair, a table, curtains and hundreds of dollars in vet expenses all wasted because of this product that did the exact opposite of what it’s supposed to do. We did more research into feliway and found that all of the studies they reference are paid by feliway. Even worse there was also no control group in the studies. So it is basically just “take our word for it”. The independent studies that have been done saw absolutely NO positive impact. Basically what this product has done is taken a cats natural pheromone and amplified, heated it up and sent it into the air. It is basically creating an imaginary cat with a super strong scent to basically dominate everyone else. This cannot be good for a cat’s natural hierarchy. In Pete’s case he smelled another cat and since he could not see one he felt threatened and started trying to reclaim his space. Blind cats naturally have a heightened sense of smell so this must have been super stressful for him. I feel the marketing of this product is highly deceptive and is cruel. If your cat is stressed or misbehaving, take the time to find out why they are behaving the way they are and find a more natural way to resolve the situation. There are other options. This I don’t think is one of them. If you do decide to try it, use with caution. In the cases where it has changed the behavior of the cat I worry it is out of fear not out of relief. ... show more

The Feliway pheremones have helped my very uncertain cat to relax. She is more playful, relaxed, and seems generally happier. It took about 2 months before I noticed a change, but then the most telling indication of change was that she stopped chewing the tip of her tail. I'm very pleased with this product. ... show more
