Anodizing aluminum creates a durable, non-reactive surface which allows you to bake a wider-variety of ingredients like citrus fruits and tomato-based foods and sauces. Typically, ingredients that react poorly with ‘natural aluminum’ and ‘aluminized steel’ products and can actually leach unwanted flavors, and even aluminum, back into your baking. Anodizing ‘safe- seals’ the natural pores of aluminum creating a smoother, thicker, completely sealed and more versatile baking surface. Anodizing is not a coating. It’s an environmentally-safe process that contains no chemical additives, dyes, CFC’s, PTFE’s or PFOA’s. Anodizing is the reason Fat Daddio’s Bakeware will never chip, flake, peel, pit or rust. • Cooking directions
Size: 8 x 4 Inch
There are no directions on the pan or website. So here you go. It holds a whole cake box about 5 cups of batter. Bake at 325° for 80 minutes. Use a heating rod (sold separately) so the middle gets done evenly. I tried buttering the pan and the cake stuck. I sprayed the crap out of the pan and heating rod with cooking spray. That worked. To cool, put it in the fridge for a few hours(it takes that long to cool because it's so thick). If you don't cool it completely and try to turn it over and dump it out, only the inside will fall out(speaking from experience). Use a narrow bendable spatula to run along the cake and pan to make sure there are no spots that are stuck. Wrap the cake in aluminium foil and freeze overnight. That way decorating will be so much easier because the cake is firm. The pictures are two cake halves. To get a perfect sphere, you have to put icing in the middle otherwise it's a little squashed. ... show more

  • Absolutely Top of the Line
Size: 10 x 4.75 Inch
This pan is absolutely incredible. It takes a bit of finesse because it is so large, but if you prep and bake correctly you'll save yourself so much time and effort if you want a beautiful hemispherical cake. First, prep your pan with Wilton's Cake Release and thank me later. Also, I dropped my baking temperature to 300° and baked for 45-60 min. I found that the equivalent of 11 cups or 2 boxes of cake mix was a good amount. I prepared 15 cups but it was way too much. I rested my filled pan inside a 6inch round and set the whole thing on a baking sheet in the oven. It worked perfectly. Fat Daddio has an awesome website you really ought to check out for tips, tricks and info- I'm really impressed overall. This is a great product that I'm thrilled to have in my collection. I also bought the smaller hemi pan to make a pig for my daughter and I'm equally happy. The pans are easy to clean and professional quality and I'll likely never use another brand again. ... show more

  • Game Changer
Size: 8 x 4 Inch
I bake as a hobby and make cakes for my kids’ birthdays. This year, my son asked for a ninja cake. I was already brainstorming a regular round cake and maybe a fondant Ninjago Ninja topper... nothing fancy. But then, I found so many greater ideas and decided to make a ninja head! I had never used a hemispheric cake pan and so I did not know what to or how to look one. It was so easy to clean, prep, bake with, and clean. I did learn after my first try, that you have to lower the temperature of the oven so you don’t get a big elevated, uncooked middle and burnt edges. Second time, took longer to bake but better results. Third time, even longer but I got a perfect hemisphere!! After making Kai (LEGO Ninjago Ninja), I feel so inspired to make more hemispheric cakes like a globe, sports balls, or even more ninjas!!! I highly recommend this one for it’s excellent quality; no scratches, no rust, no dents, and great even baking. ... show more

  • I used this pan on a minion cake that I ...
Size: 8 x 4 Inch
I used this pan on a minion cake that I made this past weekend. It worked well with my 8" cake pans that I already have. Since there was no instructions, I read other reviews and found the batter amount on Fat Daddio's website. However, baking it is another story since there was no instruction on baking time as well. It took forever....over an hour to bake at 325 degrees...about 70 mins convec. I started to worry that it will never bake in the center but it finally did. It takes 6 1/2 cups of batter. Baking time varies depending on my oven. It worked from my cake minion project. ... show more

  • Good quality, versatile shape, just the right size
Size: 9 x 4 Inch
I used the 9" hemisphere pan to make a 'moon cake'. It took one boxed mix perfectly. It feels sturdy and good quality. I also used the fat daddio heating rod, which in my opinion is necessary for getting the cake to cook evenly. The rod seemed to make the cake cook upwards in the middle oddly; it kind of looked like an eruption. However it was easy enough to even out with a knife and since that part would be the 'bottom', it didn't matter to me if it was pretty. I recommend placing the cake pan on a cookie sheet. I think it would balance on its own on the oven rack but I didn't want to chance it. Overall I'm pleased with this pan. I think the shape is very versatile and I appreciate the size is just right for an average sized cake recipe or box mix ... show more

  • Great product for polymer clay
Size: 6.5 x 3.25 Inch
I first heard about these watching a youtube video by Gayle Thompson from years ago and I finally found a place to buy them. They are very well made, pictures shown are the sizes I got (2.75 in, 3.5 in, 4 in, 5 in, 6.5 in- I'm still waiting for the back-ordered 6.25 in size). The smallest one I got appears to have a few flaws on the inside- you can feel them faintly I don't know if it's in finish/coating or the metal itself, but when I press raw clay into it it doesn't pick up ANYTHING so it doesn't matter at all. I forgot to coat it with corn starch or something for release when I made my first bowl but the baked and cooled polymer clay popped off really easily just after going around the top edge twice with a bone tool. Really excited to use these more! Update: apparently there is an issue with the 6.25 size. If you order it through Amazon itself or through Amazon from the manufacturer as seller you will be sent a 6.5. This happened to me twice and finally Amazon told me to not try buying it anymore. I haven't found 6.25 available anywhere else online and the return took almost 2 months to register in my account, weeks after I sought customer service multiple times since my returns and refunds usually show within minutes to up to 2hr from dropping them off. I'm not sure what the issue is as the bowls all clearly have their size imprinted on them and on the cardboard wrap packaging. ... show more
