This incubator is five years old and on its 4th hatch. The hygrometer is still accurate, but the thermometer is not. I’m not worried about it though, because I use govee thermometer/hygrometers for readings and just adjust the incubator as needed. The govees are perfectly sized to sit in the egg turner. They’re accurate out of the box. (I check calibration them before using them). Instructions tell you to use a turkey baster to add water. I use a medicine syringe. The egg turner is understandably noisy, but you get used to it. When it’s full of eggs, it’s not as bad. I also leave my hatch journal binder resting on top of the incubator. The additional weight helps quiet the vibrations. There are hot spots. The very top and bottom rows (the rows closest to the filler holes) seem to lose about a third of their eggs. So I just don’t put my favorites there, knowing there’s a greater risk of blood rings at some point during incubation. Otherwise my hatches are great. This incubator does its job well! Last year, I misplaced one of the filler hole plugs (black). After scouring the internet for replacements and not finding them, I started looking for something that would be comparable… Wine toppers work perfectly! (Lucky four-leaf clovers are a nice touch, lol) These silicone corks actually work better than the original rubber ones, I think. The thicker plug head(?) makes removal/insertion much easier. The shaft part is maybe 1-2mm smaller than the original, but the thick, wide top part compensates for that very well. I’m not sure how long incubators work reliably before needing maintenance or mechanical replacement parts, but we’re on the fourth hatch in five years and haven’t run into any big surprises.     • Works great, the outside readings on the top are NEVER correct always use a hygrometer inside.

As comments have said it fluctuates with heat , you HAVE to have a thermometer inside the incubator for appropriate readings the outside temp and humidity on the top are NEVER accurate ever. The more eggs the harder it is to control Hindi at loc down etc.

I was skeptical after I started the incubation process because the heat wasn’t consistent. At around day 3, I put in an outdoor remote thermometer that I had on the deck as well as a grill thermometer in the incubator. I discovered the temp on the incubator was 2 degrees low, so I raised the temp to 103.5. To my amazement at day 19 the chicks started to hatch, I had a total of 39 out of 42 hatch which is more than I could of hoped for. With my small 12 egg incubator I usually had a 50% hatch rate. I think the key was the second thermometer and adjusting the heat accordingly. Also, instead of removing the turning tray I just unplugged it when the eggs were in the upright position (make sure you unplug the tray only and not the heat element. ... show more

The incubator that I bought was missing the outer plastic layer, i've bought this model and brand in the past, and it was awesome. After a few times of using this incubator it does not read proper temperature or humidity and my hatch rate has been terrible compared to me using the identical incubator to this one with the outer plastic layer. I almost feel like I got one that somebody messed up and returned thinking.I was getting a good price for it.But really it was just a waste of money. ... show more

Was not the exact model I wished for, but it works just as well. This model had just a Styrofoam shell. And I have a next grade up with a solid plastic shell around the Styrofoam, which is makes it almost indestructible. But this one worked great Was a need of a second one. Our hatch rate has been very low with both chickens and quial. We did some adjustments with the temperature. To remedy this I had to purchase an additional gauge so we have a consistent temp. It does the job, but I think I will buy a different one for future hatches.
