This HD is less expensive, and for that reason I felt nervous purchasing it. After arrival, I plug it into a Video Recorder and it formats and records OK. Sigh of relief. HOWEVER, I attach it to my computer via a Sabrent USB 3.1 2.5" SSD Cable Adapter - EC-SS31 purchased elsewhere, and the computer did NOT FULLY RECOGNIZE IT. Additionally, I can't initialize via MMC in Windows 11 because a terse error appears leaving me hanging. When I check the Windows systray, it shows the device for detaching but does not assign a drive letter. So I boot into Ubuntu 22.04 Linux and similar issue. GParted does not even recognize the drive. Attaching the drive to the computer is critical for transferring files from the Video Recorder so that I can edit them on the computer. Luckily I also have a Wavlink USB 3 2.5" HD case. Trying the drive with this will possibly eliminate any issue with the Sabrent adapter. The drive immediately is recognized with the Wavlink, fully initialized, formatted and pops up in the operating system and transfers files. Just because the device is inexpensive does not mean it is no good. If possible, properly check and eliminate all other variables before calling support or returning. ... show more

In a time like we have now when ssd sata 3 is so cheap U should buy it for expanding ur memory It came to pass that after a while on my second pc I saw that i have no storage I looked for an ssd and last time i bought one was a long time ago when i built the pc and it was expensive especially not 1tb So the price is amazing! I received the 1TB model new in box. I ran volume recovery on it out of curiosity and found an NTFS volume labeled "SSD_7" file: "System Volume Information/WPSettings.dat" Unexpected and curious. Here's the hexdump: 0000000 000c 0000 6954 7a1b 4da3 a85f 000000c Model Number: Fanxiang S101 1TB Serial Number: MX_00000000000024267 Firmware Revision: SN14130 device size with M = 1024*1024: 976762 MBytes device size with M = 1000*1000: 1024209 MBytes (1024 GB) I wrote a gpt label, formatted ext4 without a journal and ran f3 on it: Average writing speed: 133.20 MB/s Data OK: 938.80 GB (1968814104 sectors) Data LOST: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors) Corrupted: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors) Slightly changed: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors) Overwritten: 0.00 Byte (0 sectors) Average reading speed: 410.50 MB/s Seems real. Adequate performance even if a bit slow on the writes. Note the write speed was faster when it was less than half full. About 250MB/s at 17% full and about 90 MB.s at 85% full. Had to pay for HDD cloning software. Free versions wouldn't copy the Bios. Extension cord to USB made cloning easy. Boot went from 5 minutes to 30 seconds or so. Older HP Laptop.
