  • Dream Chair and Perfect for My Gaming Sessions
Color: Black
I’m going to breakdown this review into a few different parts because I feel it’s important you get all the details before, during, and after me purchasing this chair. If you simply want the chair review, skip down to the CHAIR REVIEW section. There’s also a brief FINAL THOUGHTS AND TLDR at the end. BACKSTORY (no pun intended) I’d been gaming on a hand-me-down office chair that was 20+ years old. That chair was small, took up little space in my room, and was overall sturdy. Those are all good qualities, but the problem was for long gaming sessions it was brutal on my back. The backrest didn’t go up very high and it lacked any decent way to keep my spine straight, not to mention the seat itself hurt my rear after even 30 minutes of sitting in it. The uncomfortableness I experienced with that chair happened over time and I finally decided I needed to get a proper gaming chair. I didn’t have experience with gaming chairs so I was essentially starting from scratch. Anybody looking for a new gaming chair will prioritize the quality and affordability, but an equally important factor for me was that it had to give me ample space for my fighting game peripherals. I use both a fightstick and a hitbox style controller, and both of these always sit on my lap when I play. Just to give you a general idea, these peripherals are approximately 19 inches wide and about 10-13 inches in length depending on which one I’m using. I really needed to make sure the chair I got had 1) enough space for me to be comfortable, 2) enough space for the peripheral to sit comfortably on my lap, and 3) enough space for my arms to be at just the right angle without worrying about cramped space. I did an extensive search of gaming chairs and all of them did not meet the criteria I listed above. I happened to randomly see this chair one day when I was browsing Amazon and looked into the specs. Based on the measurements listed, there would be a generous amount of space between each of the armrests. This would allow my fighting game peripherals to sit on my lap without any issue, as well as enough space for me to be comfortable. Seeing the many praises other reviewers left for this chair further helped make my decision. It was a no brainer at that point so I went ahead and placed the order! DELIVERY AND ASSEMBLY The chair didn’t take long to arrive, about 3 days, and it was delivered in a huge package. First off, the package is HEAVY! This was a good sign for me because it meant the parts were likely good quality. My gaming room is upstairs, so instead of taking the entire box up there which would have broken my back in half, I opened the box and carried each piece up there separately. Just as I had thought, each piece I carried was good quality parts and felt premium. Once everything was upstairs, I began the assembly. The instructions were very easy to follow. The tools and bolts included were clearly labeled as well. I thankfully didn’t have to use any of my own tools or drills, I only used my work gloves since some of the wrench turning hurt my hands, but that’s just because I have sensitive hands so you may not have the same issue. The assembly took me about 70-90 minutes as I was really taking my time with it to examine all the parts closely for defects. I’m happy to report there were no defects of any kind, everything was in pristine condition. Once fully completed, the chair looked amazing! CHAIR REVIEW (the part you’ve been waiting for) Sitting in the chair is absolute bliss. Comfortable is an understatement. The headrest and lumbar support help keep my spine as straight as possible. This works miracles during longer gaming sessions as I don’t feel any fatigue caused by poor back support. I haven’t used the massage lumbar much, but when I did, it felt nice. The armrests can be adjusted up and down as well as moving them left or right depending on how you want to rest your arms or elbows. You can also lift the front flaps on the armrests in case you want to use your phone. I understand that’s mainly for mobile gamers but I found it useful for just texting or browsing social media. The backrest can lean far back allowing you to make a full recline. My bed isn’t too far from where I sit, as is the TV in my room, so having the full recline with my feet on the bed while streaming a movie feels great. The lever for the recline is very smooth both when leaning back and when springing the backrest into its upright position. The chair itself feels extremely sturdy too. There are no stability issues and no concerns from me about it falling apart or feeling delicate. This gives me peace of mind to continuously use the recline or adjust the armrests without any worries. The wheels provide smooth mobility as well. I have carpet flooring and experience no issues moving the chair around. Now I did mention I’m a fighting game player. So how does this chair stack up for someone who plays fighting games with fighting game peripherals? Wonderfully, though there is one caveat but it’s not a deal breaker in the slightest. I can sit in the chair comfortably, I have a generous amount of space for the peripherals to sit on my lap, and my arms can rest comfortably both on the armrests and in between them while I game. The caveat is that the peripheral on my lap sits at a slight incline. I’m 5’9” and at the chair’s lowest setting my feet are perfectly flat on the ground. When I play non-fighting games with a standard console controller, this is fine. But for fighting games, I don’t like the incline so what I do is I prop my feet up with a small square tool box that I have. This makes it so there’s no incline for my legs and I can use the fighting game peripherals without worrying about the odd angle. Again, not a dealbreaker for me, but just something I wanted to mention. FINAL THOUGHTS AND TLDR I’m extremely happy with this chair. It’s been worth every penny as it’s helped extend my gaming sessions due to its comfortability. Gaming aside, the recline is sublime for when I’m relaxing while watching a movie. The chair has great quality parts, is visually pleasing, and satisfies all the criteria I had for supporting the fighting game peripherals I wanted to place on my lap. Doesn’t matter if you’re a fighting game player or not, if you’re a gamer at all, this is the chair you want! ... show more

  • Comfortable chair - not for shorter people!
Color: Black
The chair is very comfortable, and the recline (not just tilt) is a super nice feature. However, in the description it states 5'3" as the minimum user height range. That is flat out wrong. I'm 5'5" and my feet were nowhere near the floor at the lowest height setting, even straight up with no recline or tilt. I had some low profile chair sliders to replace the included wheels, which are the larger 3" wheels, and even then my feet barely rested flat on the ground. The hydraulic cylinder that is included is fairly short already, but I shopped around and found one with a longer 2.4" sink at the bottom and about 2.75" shorter overall (it's the "MySit GasliftNEW-6" 2.2" stroke replacement cylinder for those who are interested... available here on Amazon). Paired with smaller 2" wheels, I'm now able to rest my feet on the ground with wheels. The bottom of the cylinder is still about 1/2" off the ground in this configuration as well and does not touch or drag on the floor. It's a the perfect chair for someone 5'3"-5"6 now. Bottom line, if you are about 5'6" or shorter, this probably isn't for you straight out of the box. It's a very comfortable chair though and looks great too, so if you are willing to replace a few parts (I spent about $45 on the new cylinder and new wheels) this still might be the one for you especially if you can grab it on sale knowing you may have to replace the cylinder and wheels. Over 5'6"??? Yeah, it's great. Go for it. ... show more

  • Chair base is poorly designed.
Color: Classic Black
This is the second Fantasy Lab chair I’ve purchased. I’ve used the last one I had for 4 years and I’m only replacing it because the padding is no longer comfortable. I work remotely and sot in the chair 10+ hours a day, so it has been great. HOWEVER…I received this one today and put it together. When assembling the base of the chair I thought “this might not last long”. I was right. The base is made up of 6 pieces (the center and 5 legs). It is not a solid piece and is held together with bolts (see pictures). As soon as I sat in the assembled chair and tried to move it felt unstable. I went to roll the chair (while sitting in it) and one of the arms of the base twisted. I am a big guy, but I am more than 100lbs below the weight limit of this chair and it lasted me 3 minutes. I’m ordering a replacement base for this from another company and hope it works out. We’ll see! ... show more

  • Husband loves it
Color: Classic Black
My husband is a bigger man and can’t use conventional office chairs because he finds them uncomfortable. We got this chair for him back in March, it’s December now and this chair has been used every single day. It doesn’t squeak when he sits in it all this time, The massage cushion is removable, which he enjoys because he doesn’t always want to have it on him, We replaced the wheels immediately upon buying it so I can’t speak to if the wheels are good quality or not. We wanted clear rubber wheels so that’s what we got. But as far as the chair goes it’s extremely comfortable, it reclines well, it’s strong and it matches his aesthetic. It was pretty easy to put together also, Definitely recommend if your beyond the weight capacity of conventional chairs And even if you’re not. When I sit in it, I can sit crisscross really comfortably. And I’m 5 foot 7. Excellent purchase, I would buy another if I had a need for it, but I don’t lol If I had to pick one thing to critique about it, it could really use a footrest To match the incredible reclining capabilities it has. ... show more
