I've always been a watch guy with a special affinity towards sports-type and diving style watches. Over the years I have had Citizens, Seikos, Casio G-shocks, Armitrons and Timexes - some expensive and some cheap. At the time I bought this watch, I had been wearing a $16 Casio F-91W, which had been performing great. First off, this watch has the appearance of an expensive "g-shock" style watch with a lot of digital features - in reality, it is a just a basic digital watch with an alarm feature, date, stop-watch, and of course, the lights. As a lot of people have griped about in the comments, there is no working compass built in - the compass rose you see flashes with the seconds and that is it. Overall, the watch is large and ungainly - almost for the sake of being large; but I have not found it to be obtrusively large, although one time I had to remove it to do some work in a tight space. Setting the watch was easy. The instructions are rather cryptic, but I figured out how to set the time and date quickly without them. I have put this watch through some rigorous situations in the few weeks that I have had it. It has been to the pool many times; I've had it as deep as ten feet. It survived a beach trip with extensive salt-water exposure, digging in the sand, and high-pressure water jets. I've washed cars wearing it and have taken it in the shower as well. I believe that this watch's defining feature is the light display, which is why I bought the watch - I needed a watch that lit up well (I work nights) and this watch does it better than any of the most expensive and feature-laden watches that I have ever had. I guess the kid in me likes the different colors that you can set it at, although the flashing multi-color mode that I call the "party-mode" is a bit much. All in all, this is a good watch that might be a little oversized and cheap-looking, but it keeps good time, is easy to set, is fairly rugged, and has a great light display. At $12, a real bargain. UPDATE: It's been almost six months since I bought this watch and it is still running strong and I am wearing it daily. Still thoroughly impressed with the watch and it has keep accurate time - all functions still operating as they should. I don't think this could ever be a five star watch in my opinion, but only because of it's bulk and style deficits. UPDATE #2: After 13 months of ownership, this watch is still working just fine and without issues. Strap and strap retainer intact, still keeping accurate time, and all features functioning as new. ... show more

For a longest time when I was doing home repairs in the house or in the garage. I would wear whatever watch I had on me at the time. But as time went on I realized I was merely ruining them with grit, grim and whatever else got on to them. So I found this "GO TO" watch that is perfect for that kind of stuff. I have painted with it on, worked in the yard, jumped in the pool with it on. Got it soaked in whatever and whatever else you can think of. When I am done, I simply put it under the sink and wipe off whatever mess might be on there and if there are specs of paint, they just come off with a simple soft scrub brush and ready for duty the next day. I have a large hand and this is not tiny watch either. Also the watch is packed with features. Sadly my first watch, the handle cracked and broke off in the middle but for the price point it is at, it is perfect for this kind of stuff. I did salvage the watch by using the new SHORTER strap and strapping it onto my my bike handle and now I don't have to wear a watch when I go for a ride. TIP - When you get your watch there will be a thin piece of plastic mounted on the face of the watch from the factory to keep it from being scratched during shipment. It is so precise and clear you would not even know it is there. Just use your nail and lift it loose from one end and it comes right off. The image I posted looks smudged because I discovered the plastic was still on there AFTER I TOOK the picture. Looks way better now without the plastic. I RECOMMEND ! This is my 2nd Fanmis watch. My current one still works fine but the band broke and I can’t find a replacement that fits this configuration . The price has gone up but still an outstanding value @ $18. It’s durable, light weight and easy to read. an owner of many watches, I use wear this watch daily working around the property.
