Not much to say about this. It's big, roomy, and solid. This is VERY nice for those of us who like to carry a full-size pistol, as well as a spare magazine or two, and need to be able to lock all of that up securely for brief storage in our vehicles. Also, this is a slightly deeper/taller lockbox, so it has the added benefit of being able to fit the gun AND the holster together in there, which adds an extra degree of safety: taking your pistol off or putting it on WITH the holster as a single unit, the trigger stays covered and thus it makes for safer handling when you're putting on/taking off your firearm inside your vehicle. There are also holes already pre-drilled in the lockbox, in case you want to bolt the thing down in a trunk or whatever (a very good idea, if you have the option). Just a side note, because this is slightly taller/wider/longer than most pistol safes, you might not be able to fit this under your car seat. I do fortunately have lots of room under the seats of my Ford Focus, but in other vehicles, even the standard lockboxes are a tight fit under there. So, check the dimensions and see how much room you have BEFORE you order.

I needed something affordable and safe to secure my springfield XD 9mm subcompact so I purchased this. I am not a fan of barrel cable locks or trigger locks, but I also didn't want to feel like there was any possiblity of someone playing around with my pistol while I was at work or out. This is a great alternative to those expensive electronic safes or one of those thousand dollar rifle sized safes. The lockbox comes with 2 keys and a steel cable ( which I think is for added security? ) and you can also get them with a keypad lock. its large enough to hold a full size pistol, probably even two if you really wanted to. I keep mine with 2 loaded mags and a box of ammo in it and it fits perfectly on the shelf and can be hidden or concealed anywhere if you wanted it to be, and also adheres to TSA regulations for traveling with your firearm. Easy to open and close, just be careful with those keys and don't lose the spare. Also, make sure you look at the dimensions of the box before you ordered it. I originally ordered the smallest size and it could fit a small compact pistol but was hard to completely shut without imprinting/damaging the felt lining inside the box.

A little more slimline than my Sentry Safe lock box. Not quite as big. I would call this a standard lock box. Not sure what you would even put in the smaller versions. It fits my smith and Wesson 686SSR midsize revolver (in holster) a two speedloader belt pouch and a box of .357 ammo. Sure I could cram more small things in there, but I bought it for that exact combo so it works. Let's get a few things straight though. Lock boxes are NOT SAFES! They can be broken into with the right tools and a little finesse OR be beaten, ripped apart\ pried open by force. The same could be said of many safes. It reminds me of having a locker in highschool with a pad lock on it. Lockers got broken into, but without even the simple deterrent of a thin metal door and a $5 lock much more would get stolen. I have seen a lot of reviews that people can "break into lock boxes easy". Yes break in... That's the point. I can kick open a front door or crowbar it open to rob, same goes for breaking a car window. A lock box should be out of sight on top of a high shelf, or under/ behind something. Cover and concealment matter a lot with anything you want to have a degree of safety. Why 4 stars? Well the hinge on every lock box I have seen is on the outside of the box. Think of doors in your house... Hinges are on the inside... WHY? Because if they were on the outside you could tap the pin out with a screwdriver and hammer. Same with this box you can tap the pin out with a wire hanger and some of that finesse I mentioned. If the hinge was on the inside your left only with bash, pry open or try and pick the lock. Overall its made to keep small children and teens away from your guns and other goodies. Its a simple way to keep things under "lock and key". Its small enough to be hidden most anywhere in a house, car or office. Just remember the more secure you want something it has to be harder for a nosey person to find, thus harder to get to fast.

A great, and large, locking box. I purchased a similar item thru Amazon previously and am still pleased with it - but it is so much smaller then this one. I am using the SnapSafe Lock Box to store guns and ammunition in. Each 'side' has two 1/2" layers of foam for great cushioning. The two guns I tried fit snuggly and won't be sliding around a bit. The padded cable is a bit different than the one shown in the listing so I have included a photo of it. One end has a loop and the other end is a fitting that slides into a slot on the side of the metal case. Plenty of room for most large guns...those pictured are a Ruger P90 45ACP, and the revolver is a Taurus 605 .357 with 2 inch barrel. A great way to store guns, ammo, money, purses, wallets and more. I purchased two and do highly recommend them.

If you need to leave your firearm in your car from time to time, the SnapSafe boxes are a very good choice. The security cable wraps around the seat frame preventing anyone but a thief with good tools from removing it. SnapSafe makes three sizes; this one (the 2X) is for big handguns like the Desert Eagle with a spare magazine or maybe two normal-sized handguns like the typical, full-sized Glock, Springfield XD, full-sized M1911s, etc. The XL holds one of those normal-sized handguns and a couple spare magazines. The peace of mind of being able to properly secure your firearm in your vehicle makes these SnapSafe lock boxes well worth the price. I have actually purchased one for each of my handguns - they provide good protection from damage if you don't have the right type of rack for handguns in your gun safe.

So far, so good. As a retired peace officer I am rarely without a concealed handgun on my person. However, we often travel a considerable distance to attend concerts and other events and frequently use our motor home to travel . Because some of these venues are "gun free zones", where they won't allow even off-duty or retired peace officers with CCW privileges to carry, I would have to leave my firearm in the RV or other vehicle. This simple, yet strong and effective, lock box allows me to store my firearm in the vehicle with a modicum of security and to remain in compliance with the laws in CA and other jurisdictions. When we travel considerable distances, I often bring two handguns, one full-sized and one compact, and once again this allows me to leave the second in the RV while carrying the other with less (though not no) worry. It's also large enough to hold both handguns when necessary. The included cable has allowed me to secure it to the robust frame for the jackknife sofa in the RV which in turn is bolted to the vehicle frame. It's out of sight and though not impregnable would take a considerable amount of time for someone to find and open or remove.

I like the keyed lock, it does not require batteries. As others have done, I got the Tuf-nut cable and filed the cable slot a little bigger to accommodate it. I looped the cable around a rear seat post on my Lexus LX 470. Flip the rear seat forward to get access. The safe sits on the rear seat floorboard right behind the center console. This position allows you to stow and retrieve your gun from the drivers seat, which is very important. No one sees what you are doing. Imagine you had to get out of the car, pull your gun off your person in view of everyone, and stow it in the trunk, back seat or whatever. No, you want to do this as stealthily as possible and the center rear floorboard position is the answer. Get a box of diapers, toss the diapers and cut a hole in the bottom of the box to fit over the safe. That's about as good a disguise as you will get!! You can also use the pre-drilled holes to permanent mount the safe, assuming you have a known safe position to blind drill. Then use self tapping metal screws. I don't know if smash and grab thieves carry giant bolt cutters, but I doubt it, so I'm satisfied with the cable option. The XXL is big enough for a 1911 plus some other stuff, I have an XL in my minivan for a S&W 4006 and it fits great.
