Not much to say about this. It's big, roomy, and solid. This is VERY nice for those of us who like to carry a full-size pistol, as well as a spare magazine or two, and need to be able to lock all of that up securely for brief storage in our vehicles. Also, this is a slightly deeper/taller lockbox, so it has the added benefit of being able to fit the gun AND the holster together in there, which adds an extra degree of safety: taking your pistol off or putting it on WITH the holster as a single unit, the trigger stays covered and thus it makes for safer handling when you're putting on/taking off your firearm inside your vehicle. There are also holes already pre-drilled in the lockbox, in case you want to bolt the thing down in a trunk or whatever (a very good idea, if you have the option). Just a side note, because this is slightly taller/wider/longer than most pistol safes, you might not be able to fit this under your car seat. I do fortunately have lots of room under the seats of my Ford Focus, but in other vehicles, even the standard lockboxes are a tight fit under there. So, check the dimensions and see how much room you have BEFORE you order.

For what it's meant for, this little portable safe is a good little safe for my pistol or valuables when they're not on my person. Most of the time Im carrying my pistol on me, so this safe doesn't get a lot of use. This safe is not meant for permanent storage. If someone had some wire-cutters and the time, they could break into the box. The box is only meant for temporary storage. For what it is meant for, I trust it. You can loop one end of the cable around something permanent in your vehicle and the other end inside the box and you're good to go. Just don't lose your key!

Excellent size the XXL (grab a ruler if you need visual) its made by Hornady so its quality and warranty is excellent, it's has the standard lock paddle and strong cable. (Hornady makes another box with a new lock design and it's a little smaller then this XXL box) The box is well constructed with a nice heavy steel you can screw it down from inside the bottom half tray via 4 holes for even more security. These boxs are deterrents and your best bet is to hide them out of site, it will help from smash and grabs and also just a good security for locking weapons, personal items etc when you leave your vehicle, camper, house, etc. It is also TSA airline approved. If the morons out in the world are prepared and have the time they can get to pretty much anything , If it weren't for the morons we wouldn't need to read reviews regarding products like this. Great for the price. Cable loops through any post or hold to secure. Meets CA DOJ requirements for CCW loaded gun storage in vehicle. Glad I got largest size as have plenty room for holstered gun and a couple mags. Bought two liked so much.

So far, so good. As a retired peace officer I am rarely without a concealed handgun on my person. However, we often travel a considerable distance to attend concerts and other events and frequently use our motor home to travel . Because some of these venues are "gun free zones", where they won't allow even off-duty or retired peace officers with CCW privileges to carry, I would have to leave my firearm in the RV or other vehicle. This simple, yet strong and effective, lock box allows me to store my firearm in the vehicle with a modicum of security and to remain in compliance with the laws in CA and other jurisdictions. When we travel considerable distances, I often bring two handguns, one full-sized and one compact, and once again this allows me to leave the second in the RV while carrying the other with less (though not no) worry. It's also large enough to hold both handguns when necessary. The included cable has allowed me to secure it to the robust frame for the jackknife sofa in the RV which in turn is bolted to the vehicle frame. It's out of sight and though not impregnable would take a considerable amount of time for someone to find and open or remove.

I needed something affordable and safe to secure my springfield XD 9mm subcompact so I purchased this. I am not a fan of barrel cable locks or trigger locks, but I also didn't want to feel like there was any possiblity of someone playing around with my pistol while I was at work or out. This is a great alternative to those expensive electronic safes or one of those thousand dollar rifle sized safes. The lockbox comes with 2 keys and a steel cable ( which I think is for added security? ) and you can also get them with a keypad lock. its large enough to hold a full size pistol, probably even two if you really wanted to. I keep mine with 2 loaded mags and a box of ammo in it and it fits perfectly on the shelf and can be hidden or concealed anywhere if you wanted it to be, and also adheres to TSA regulations for traveling with your firearm. Easy to open and close, just be careful with those keys and don't lose the spare. Also, make sure you look at the dimensions of the box before you ordered it. I originally ordered the smallest size and it could fit a small compact pistol but was hard to completely shut without imprinting/damaging the felt lining inside the box.

I was looking for a pistol box but everything I found was too small. My pistol has is 11" long but most boxes are made for pistols 6" to 8" long. This box fits perfectly. It is made of heavy gauge steel and comes with a security cable which I didn't use. It is heavier than expected. When I first tried to open it I thought the wrong key was included. After several tries I found that the lock is simply a tight fit and it takes a good bit of force to turn it. It also requires more force than expected to close the box so that the hasp on the lock will engage. Overall I recommend this product.
