  • Great price, super fast.
Wow. I was very pleased with this. I have a 400+ gallon hot tub, and it takes about an hour or so to fill when empty. This puppy pumped out the water in about 5 to 10 minutes. It was faster than I thought, so I really wasn’t keeping track of the time. As with many of these products, there’s a bit of standing water at the end since it has to have the bottom submerged to suck it out. But that was no biggie. Just through a bunch of towels in there and that was it. Love it! ... show more

  • Works great but needs adapters for hoses.
Works great but does not come with hose adapters. So I spent the morning at the hardware store as they put together adapters and tape, etc for this to work. Being advertised for hot tubs it should already be hose-ready or with adapters. Am editing my review since using it I am finding that the pump stopped halfway because the hose is too long for the safety air gap and I had to prop it up with a broom or hold it. ... show more

  • Worked great on my hot tub
I purchased to drain a 300 gallon hot tub and it worked great. It took less than 30 minutes to drain. So glad that I don't need to crawl under my deck to loosen panels to drain any longer.

  • Good pump
This pump is easy to use and indeed it does empty a hot tub quickly. It emptied my 500 gallon tub in 17 minutes. My only complaint is that it leaves about two inches of water in the tub that has to be manually scooped out. This is due to the impeller design on the bottom of the pump. It will looks suction when the water level drops below the blue colored body. The fittings that come with this pump do not fit a standard garden hose and I imagine it would be difficult and more costly to try to find the fittings to step it down. And, it doesn't really make sense to try to use a garden hose with this pump. It would greatly restrict it's performance. Make sure you buy the proper hose kit with this pump. I bought the 12' kit from Amazon when I purchased the pump. However, I found a 24' hose kit at Lowes Home Improvement for about the same price as the 12'. ... show more

  • Works great drainig a swim spa too
Works great. Drains my 1800 gallon swim spa in less than 2 hours. Just wish it didn't need the cutoff float. I have to tether it to a fixed upright position because letting it cutoff at the normal point would leave 100's of gallons in the pool, which is too much to bail out manually. But by tethering it, I have to watch it carefully at the end, lest it run dry. It would be nice if it just sensed the lack of intake water and didn't need the float to cutoff. But it is fast, reliable and inexpensive. ... show more

  • Worked great a few times, then quit.
This pump was pretty great. Used it to drain my hot tub 3-4 times and it was pretty fast. Just like the other reviews, be aware that it wont drain it completely, you'll have a few inches left of water that you have to manually scoop out. That didn't bother me too much.. But just went out to use it again and it no longer works -- plug it in, throw it in the hot tub, nothing.. The pump is controlled by a float, occasionally it would act up and id have to tap it before to get it to turn back on, but now it's just shot.. I'm assuming it's the switch in the float that is no longer working. ... show more

  • Not worth the 160% price increase
This is a LONG TERM review. I purchased one of these pumps in January 2017, almost eight years ago. When I purchased it I paid $38. Now it's listed at $99, a 160% increase. That's way more than what inflation accounts for. Was it worth $38-- yes. Is it worth $99-- no. The problem is that while I've had it for almost eight years it has hardly been trouble free years. For the past four years I have not been able to just plug it in and have it work. I must take the bottom plate off the pump, reach inside with a screwdriver and manually free-up the pump impeller, it gets stuck when not used frequently (I drain and clean the hot tub monthly). On two occasions I further disassembled the pump to see if the sticking was from ingesting something other than warm water-- nope, clean. It just gets stuck. So, did I get $38 worth of use from the pump-- yes. But I'm not going to buy another of these today because it is not worth $99.99. Instead, now that the warranty has expired on the tub, for about $50 I can install a floor drain in my tub and not have to use a pump any more. ... show more

  • Excellent pump for draing a spa/hot tub
Love this pump! The job of cleaning out the spa seemed so overwhelming and I was really dreading it. I bought this pump after reading that it's much faster than using the spa drain. I also purchased the Flotec Universal Discharge Hose FP0012-6U-P2 to use instead of a standard hose. Wow, the spa drained in no time. I didn't time it but it was approximately 15 minutes. It left about an inch of water on the bottom that I scooped up into a bucket, cleaned the spa and refilled it and it was done. Easy as pie! It's a really sturdy piece of equipment and I feel certain it will last for a very long time. I'm extremely pleased with this pump and even more pleased to know that this makes cleaning the spa such a simple task! ... show more
