After extensive research, we invested in the complete Extreme Pro system for some key reasons: 1. Best quality wire we found in any system, heavy duty receiver, & waterproof 2. Adjustable system for multiple dogs with different settings for the different dogs 3. Price for comparable units was excellent 4. Good battery life (we didn’t want to deal with recharging) 5. Good warranty Hooking the electrical part of the system up was relatively easy. The manual labor of burying the wire was much more challenging and time-consuming than anticipated. The burying went much better when we rented a trencher. Cutting through asphalt and concrete was easier than anticipated. The system worked very well once installed and set up. The training techniques provided with the unit worked perfectly to train our dogs (something we had done incorrectly years ago when we first tried an electric fence). Our old dog is ok with the system, and it took almost no effort to train him … but he didn’t really need it. Our young female (8 months), was the main reason for the fence. She wanted to wander and play with neighborhood children and livestock that lived beyond the vision of our property. Our previous solution was that she only went outside on leash. She now loves that she can sit at the door, begging to go out, we pop the collar on (it stays right by the door), and she can play outside in our 1 acre yard as long as she wants. She has become a very happy dog! We love that we didn’t need to build a large fence that keeps those same neighborhood children out -- They now come to our yard to play with her! Other items that are noteworthy: 1) The distance from the wire before it beeps/shocks varies a little bit when we have wet weather, particularly for the part of the wire which is not buried. We ran it over the roof in one location and were surprised when a corner of one room gives a warning beep/shock on wet days. Fortunately, dogs have no need to be in that corner, and usually they don’t even wear the collars indoors. Not a big issue for us as it still gives the warning beep. 2) Great customer service after the wire was hit by lightning, and we needed to replace the panel and surge protector. The warranty is EXCELLENT!

I usually do not write reviews about and purchase I make , good or bad . However I hope this review helps many people make their final decision about which system to buy after researching every system available just as I did . I purchased a wireless system first and it was sadly terribly inconsistent and inaffective .I sent it back the second day I tried to adjust it even with it sitting on my pic nic table outside , it was junk ! , and it was one of the top rated and most expensive units available. Enough about that . This Extream dog system with the upgraded wire (1500ft) was installed by me and my wife in less than four hours, from running the wire around my country property to the final mounting and wiring of the main unit in my home . Some of the wire is buried on my lawn and some is ran on top of the ground through a wooded are and both are equally effective . Heres a tip and a cool fact about the installation. My dog was by my side watching me install the wire , he's smart enough to have known I was doing something important. He just didnt know why . However upon completion I put his leash on and walked him around the perimeter. He heard audio several times and expierenced a mild shock several times and the hard correction twice . After his single walk around the property he shrunk his on running area in the yard to a very small area in the middle of the yard . I thought it was kind of funny . Over several days he expanded his area to the perfect distance to the exact perimeter . I've had the system for about 3 weeks now and I continue to be amazed every day at the perfect desired effect of the system . I set his correction level pretty high to begin with due to his weight and size and haven't adjusted it once. I have taken his collar off every day and checked it at the boundary every day for extra assurance, and it continues to perform perfectly. This is a very accurate account of my thoughts . However, there are two things I don't like . One , I don't really like that I had to register the system before receiving the surge protector included in the price , but that's not so terrible. Two , and most annoying is the fact that each time there is a power outage the collar has to be reprogrammed to the main unit and doesn't retain memory . This only takes a few minutes so its really no big deal , but if im away from home and theres a short outage I am unaware of it . Overall , I would absolutely recommend this system to anyone concerned about their pets safety. My confidence of knowing I can allow my dog outside alone at night is worth the price alone . But it you wont regret it . One more thing , in addition to the few marker flags that came with the system , I purchased a dozen cheap snow pole reflectors to put around the parameter also . I think this was a very important addition to my complete assurance the my pet can easily see his boundaries . Im 100% confident that I purchased the correct system . The puschase of any cheaper sytem isn't worth saving a few dollars . I purchased a two dog system and both work perfectly. Just buy it , follow the simple instructions to install it and relax knowing that all is well . A+++.
