After extensive research, we invested in the complete Extreme Pro system for some key reasons: 1. Best quality wire we found in any system, heavy duty receiver, & waterproof 2. Adjustable system for multiple dogs with different settings for the different dogs 3. Price for comparable units was excellent 4. Good battery life (we didn’t want to deal with recharging) 5. Good warranty Hooking the electrical part of the system up was relatively easy. The manual labor of burying the wire was much more challenging and time-consuming than anticipated. The burying went much better when we rented a trencher. Cutting through asphalt and concrete was easier than anticipated. The system worked very well once installed and set up. The training techniques provided with the unit worked perfectly to train our dogs (something we had done incorrectly years ago when we first tried an electric fence). Our old dog is ok with the system, and it took almost no effort to train him … but he didn’t really need it. Our young female (8 months), was the main reason for the fence. She wanted to wander and play with neighborhood children and livestock that lived beyond the vision of our property. Our previous solution was that she only went outside on leash. She now loves that she can sit at the door, begging to go out, we pop the collar on (it stays right by the door), and she can play outside in our 1 acre yard as long as she wants. She has become a very happy dog! We love that we didn’t need to build a large fence that keeps those same neighborhood children out -- They now come to our yard to play with her! Other items that are noteworthy: 1) The distance from the wire before it beeps/shocks varies a little bit when we have wet weather, particularly for the part of the wire which is not buried. We ran it over the roof in one location and were surprised when a corner of one room gives a warning beep/shock on wet days. Fortunately, dogs have no need to be in that corner, and usually they don’t even wear the collars indoors. Not a big issue for us as it still gives the warning beep. 2) Great customer service after the wire was hit by lightning, and we needed to replace the panel and surge protector. The warranty is EXCELLENT!

We have two golden retrievers and have recently had to come up with a new system to keep an eye on them during the day. They previously had a place to go during the day where they were watched. Our situation has changed and they need to stay home now during the day. We have two neighbors and a close friend that have all used an electric fence with great success. My close friend in fact has this system and recommended it. So we purchased it. Everything seems sturdy and well made. We got the pro grade kit with the 14 gauge wire. I used a cable trencher to bury the wire. I recommend spending a fair amount of time planning your system to have as few connections as possible. When these systems fail they will typically fail at one of the connection points. In fact, if i had to do it over again i would design it where i had no connection points. But i digress..... This system came with the twisted wire as well. For my layout, however it wasn't enough with out splicing additional anyway so i had enough of the 14 gauge wire left over to make my own. Tip: put it in a drill to twist it. Once installed everything worked perfectly. I wish the collars had a vibrate setting as well as the tone and the shock but that's just me. I have had it installed for two weeks now but haven't had a chance to work with the dogs as much as i would like. I think they are really close to getting it though. The main reason for five stars is their customer service. I have called in 3 times and each time the service has been fantastic. Each time the rep was knowledgeable and efficient and my issue was resolved. They truly shined in this aspect.

I ordered the Extreme Dog Fence a year ago and it has been a great purchase! We moved into a neighborhood with a smaller yard then previously. We had lived on 10 acres and our dogs were relatively free to roam the property. Now we have a lot with about 1/3 acre and neighbors all around. The fence that we have is more decorative, not a privacy fence, that our two Lab mixed dogs could easily jump. With neighbor dogs and kids we needed something that would keep them from jumping, or even approaching, the fence. I found the Extreme Dog Fence on Amazon with the two collar option. It was very easy for me to install. Digging and burying the wire around my property was the most time consuming part. Not too bad though, it took me a couple hours on a Saturday afternoon. The wiring is straightforward and fairly simple. There are videos on the installation process and set up as well. Once installed the training of our dogs was pretty quick. Within a couple of days of working with them they figured it out. Since installing we have had no problems. The system works perfectly! It gives us peace of mind that our dogs will stay in our yard and remain safe themselves, and will not get out and bother others. I would highly recommend this system!!

I bought the 1000' 2 dog system. I was really excited to get this fence because my yard doesn't have any sort of barriers, so my dogs had to be on leads to be outside. It was kind of difficult to install, but that was mostly because I have a larger area to encircle and I did most of the installation by myself. It's definitely easier and quicker if you have more people working on it at once. Shortly after installation, I discovered that there was an issue with my transmitter. It was blinking and alarming non-stop at me as soon as I plugged it in. I performed the Short Loop Test outlined in the handbook, but nothing changed so I called the support line. The woman I spoke with was very kind, polite, and efficient. She walked me through the loop test again to make sure I did it correctly, and when it still didn't work she sent me a FREE replacement transmitter! It arrived within a week and my fence was back to working quickly! I'm impressed with the fence, but I am even more impressed with and thankful for the customer support!

I usually do not write reviews about and purchase I make , good or bad . However I hope this review helps many people make their final decision about which system to buy after researching every system available just as I did . I purchased a wireless system first and it was sadly terribly inconsistent and inaffective .I sent it back the second day I tried to adjust it even with it sitting on my pic nic table outside , it was junk ! , and it was one of the top rated and most expensive units available. Enough about that . This Extream dog system with the upgraded wire (1500ft) was installed by me and my wife in less than four hours, from running the wire around my country property to the final mounting and wiring of the main unit in my home . Some of the wire is buried on my lawn and some is ran on top of the ground through a wooded are and both are equally effective . Heres a tip and a cool fact about the installation. My dog was by my side watching me install the wire , he's smart enough to have known I was doing something important. He just didnt know why . However upon completion I put his leash on and walked him around the perimeter. He heard audio several times and expierenced a mild shock several times and the hard correction twice . After his single walk around the property he shrunk his on running area in the yard to a very small area in the middle of the yard . I thought it was kind of funny . Over several days he expanded his area to the perfect distance to the exact perimeter . I've had the system for about 3 weeks now and I continue to be amazed every day at the perfect desired effect of the system . I set his correction level pretty high to begin with due to his weight and size and haven't adjusted it once. I have taken his collar off every day and checked it at the boundary every day for extra assurance, and it continues to perform perfectly. This is a very accurate account of my thoughts . However, there are two things I don't like . One , I don't really like that I had to register the system before receiving the surge protector included in the price , but that's not so terrible. Two , and most annoying is the fact that each time there is a power outage the collar has to be reprogrammed to the main unit and doesn't retain memory . This only takes a few minutes so its really no big deal , but if im away from home and theres a short outage I am unaware of it . Overall , I would absolutely recommend this system to anyone concerned about their pets safety. My confidence of knowing I can allow my dog outside alone at night is worth the price alone . But it you wont regret it . One more thing , in addition to the few marker flags that came with the system , I purchased a dozen cheap snow pole reflectors to put around the parameter also . I think this was a very important addition to my complete assurance the my pet can easily see his boundaries . Im 100% confident that I purchased the correct system . The puschase of any cheaper sytem isn't worth saving a few dollars . I purchased a two dog system and both work perfectly. Just buy it , follow the simple instructions to install it and relax knowing that all is well . A+++.

This product was easy to install and operate. It came with everything that was needed to get started (although I would recommend getting something to ground the device/surge protect). I got the two dog version which came with two identical collars that were adjustable. The circumference on the collars was huge and will very likely have to be trimmed back. The flags are a little small, so if you want some bigger white flags I would also get some of those. For my 25 lbs dog, it is light enough and she is unbothered by it. For my 50 lbs dog, you obviously hardly notice it given how light it is. We started on a tone (beep) only mode. I tested the lowest shock setting on myself with the rubber protection on the prongs and was surprised (and pleased) with how little I felt it. In fact, when initially testing I didn't feel it and thought it was not operating correctly. This was great news as my dogs are both very sensitive and I wanted something will little kick. I also tested the highest setting which was uncomfortable and I would not use. It seems to be pretty consistent when the tone will activate. Obviously, take into account your dog's height.

This fence system works fantastic...while it works. My first collar made it 11 months, they replaced it under the 1 year warranty which is great. However, the second collar only made it 12 months. Now I'm out of warranty and a new collar is $170. I understand nothing can last forever but I feel that a $170 collar should make it longer than a year.

Laid 1200 feet of perimeter wire in one afternoon with my wife. Luckily, most was through mulched areas where we could used a v-shaped hoe. Hardest part was getting through a hard packed gravel driveway composed of 3/4" stone. A digging bar helped facilitate that. I'm disabled due to 7 spinal surgeries and I'm fused 9 disc levels in my neck (6) and lower back (3). It was tough work but we managed. I was concerned about the driveway and springtime mud. One area gets real soft. So, in both passing areas through the driveway, we elected to use PVC conduit and go extra deep. Like a foot deep. The adjustability of the antenna strength was enough at the factory setting. I had assumed I'd have to increase it but that was not the case. I also assumed I'd have to crank up the signal of shock strength as the remote collars we previously were using were not strong enough. The dogs just laughed at us.... Level 4 seems to be a tad more than they like, level 2 they ignore and level 3 is weak enough that they test it. So, we settled on 4. It took one day for them to get used to the perimeter fflags and now that they have a knowledge of where they are, they stay away and play all day unimpeded. These are rescue pups at 4 months and 45 lbs. They were supposed to be Border Collie/Lab mixes but turned out to be most likely Great Dane / Cane Corso. Big, loveable but more than I was prepared for being disabled. This system saved me from having to return them to the rescue service or having to fence an acre of yard at great expense. I can't tell you how pleased I am. I live on a state highway and I am comfortable knowing they will stay in the yard and away from the traffic. Still watching them closely but with each passing day I am more convinced they are safe within its boundaries. Highly recommended!!!!! 12/04/2019 Update: This system has been exceptional! Once I found the right settings for my two dogs, it has been the Ron Popeil of dog fences. Set it and forget it! A month ago I changed where the fence was placed to give the dogs more room to roam and the dogs took two weeks to trust passing the new access area, LOL. This despite many trips across with my coaxing and reassurance. Also, kudos to their customer service department. I had an intermittent collar issue with one of the collars. They overnighted out a replacement! This was greatly appreciated considering I live on a State highway and the busy traffic. Better safe than sorry, though I doubt my dogs would test the system at this point, LOL! I cannot praise this product or this company enough! Don't be afraid to buy the best, you won't be disappointed!!!!!
