    • Good external Blu Ray option
This is a great Blu Ray drive with, in my option, a big flaw. What's good: It's small and light. Great if you need to throw it in you computer bag and bring it with you. It's both USB-A and USB-C, giving you options for connectivity. Plug and Play. No need for drivers or proprietary software needed to use. What's not so good: Non-removable USB hybrid cable: First, the cable is too short. I cannot use the drive on my desktop since all of the USB ports are on the back, halfway up the computer case, and the cable won't reach to put the drive on top of the computer or on the floor. I also find it to be a pain to have the drive so close when using a laptop. I got around this by using a docking station. Second, the cable is non-removable. If something happens to the cable, the drive is useless. Also, a removable cable would allow your to replace it with a longer one if needed (like in my case). The way you handle the cable when storing it or pulling it out to use it doesn't feel great. Feels like there is a bit of stress on the cable. Since it doesn't have a lot of heft to it, it slides all over the place. I'd still recommend this drive aside from my issues with it. ... show more

Computer don't seem to come with CD/DVD drives any longer. I just bought a high-end pc and there was not even an option to add one. Now i know why, it is so easy to add one and plug in with a fast USB cord to use when you need one. Small and lightweight, just plug in and use when you need it - works great! ... show more

This external blu-ray drive arrived well packaged and works as intended. I tested playing a regular DVD movie using it connected to a windows PC with VLC and encountered no issues other than it taking a bit of time to initially spin up, but that's what happens with optical media. The enclosure is plastic and has a carbon fiber style finish, it has both USB-A and USB-C connectors on the cord, and it is very similar to what you'd have for a pop-out optical drive in a laptop. The caddy pops out to accept the disk, it is not the type with a motorized slot. The only thing I would change is it would be nice if the cord was about six inches longer. Other than that this is great if you have some older media you want to use on a newer computer that doesn't have a drive. ... show more

This is an update review from my original review. The player itself, is nicely made with 2 built-in USB connect methods. It plays dvd’s really nice. I found that because I was connecting to Ann iMac, I needed additional drivers installed on the iMac to play blu-ray. I would have rated a full 5 had the needed drivers been made available at no cost to play Blu-ray’s on iMac. After contacting the supplier, they have both updated the sales description to specify that is using some computers like Apple, you will need to have the Nero App installed, and that you will need a subscription to get the players drivers active. Without this, I was only able to play DVD only. So, if you get an error message of “corrupt file for any Blu ray disc”, this merely means you need to install the monthly/yearly subscription to play Blu-ray Discs. The supplier was very willing to work this issue with me and resolve my problem. They were both friendly and helpful in providing the needed information. ... show more

I haven’t tested a Blu-ray in it yet as I can’t find my copy of Enter the Dragon to test it with. So far with reading install disks it is doing great. It connects well to the usb options for generic devices for motherboards installing new OS data.

This Yaeonku external Blu-ray/DVD burner arrived in a bright custom color branded box. A nice instruction booklet was also included. This is an attractive, well-constructed and cleverly-designed Blu-ray/DVD burner. It has a faux carbon fiber exterior. The cable is incorporated into the device with a routing/storage path on the bottom. It works - and it works well. I encountered no discovery or playback issues on a laptop or desktop. I've not attempted to burn media yet. All in all, I'm happy with this DVD/Blu-ray Burner. Should my experience with it begin to skip in the future, the review will be updated. ... show more
