The original order arrived without a lid. I ordered a replacement. The replacement arrived without a lid as well. According to the description, a lid is supposed to be included. It would probably be very nice if it had a lid. The grasshoppers keep jumping out. They won’t stay in the box despite asking them very nicely. Amazing tank i bought this for Sea monkeys the medium size is perfect. I saw complaints about the tank about not lid and cap not coming off but for me i dont need the lid to be taken off because of the hatch and no spillage with water would recommend.

Be aware that the medium container holds exactly 2 gallons of water and the large container holds exactly 3 1/2 gallons of water, which is considerably smaller than the specs indicate, which is why I only gave four stars. Other than needing to go back and buy the bigger container I think they're great little containers overall for my helix pomatia, except the fact that the ventilation holes on the side of the lid are too large for my isopods. The top of the lid is fine, much smaller ventilation holes, so I taped over the sides. Some of the reviews say the lid is hard to remove, but it's two tabs on each side and the lid itself is very flexible, you just stretch out the sides and it lifts off easily. The container itself is sturdy, And completely see-through despite being a slightly darkened plastic. Overall I would recommend them, but I wish they had a container that actually holds the 5 gallons I was promised ... show more

We are using this to house a beetle we found as a grub and raised in our house. The plastic lid on this carrier is not sturdy, I can tell right away this a lower quality product than a name brand one we used last year. Also I thought the lid latched on but it just sort of weakly clicks on meaning you couldn’t carry this from the handle. Altogether this is a cheap plastic I am guessing will break easily and I’ll be on the lookout for another one soon. Spend the extra couple dollars and go for one that is made a little better. ... show more

Makes a lovely betta tank. I used gravel to build up a hill on one side, and then a dirt and sand layer so I could put semiaquatic plants in it. My fish loves it and there's enough space for him to have a snail. In the wild, bettas live in rice paddies, which are shallow but very wide with lots of plants, so this recreates that environment well and makes for a lively, colorful fish. If you had ordinary gravel and decor (not mounded into a hill), this would alternatively be a nice tank for a male guppy and maybe some shrimp or snails. The measurements are a little smaller than advertised on the actual tank. I believe the measurements refer to the widest part of the lid. If this matters terribly to you, keep that in mind. Compared with the popular Aqueon MiniBow line, these tanks are cheaper and, in my opinion, look just as nice. One last thing: Some reviews complain that the lid they got was green; mine is a very dark green and it's not particularly noticeable. If you have problems with color, there are food-safe spray paints out there which are suitable for fish, or if you're crafty you can replace it with something else. ... show more
