  • Fantastic but know your pet
Color: Black
Ahhhh the many reviews that say "don't use this for beardies" SAFE TO USE WITH BEARDED DRAGONS if you are not stupid and uneducated on bearded dragons. If you know YOUR bearded dragon you know their habits. If you PAY ATTENTION to your bearded dragon. Makes a difference instead of something to leave in a cage and watch n look at. Take them out. Hang out with them. Learn the signs of behaviors and more. My beardie loves this sand. I do sand on ONE side of the terrarium and i keep it moist and packed. She digs in it and keeps a cubby hole to get down in and sleep in at night. At this point its mostly underneath as a bottom layer of substrate and i have excavator substrate on top after my beardie basically created what she wanted and moved the sand around to her liking ... show more

  • Tiny sharp shards that can break off in your skin
Color: Black
Liked the color but this isn’t typical sand that is smooth and uniform in size. It was more like coarse tiny rocks, and it had little shards that were like slivers. I used this for art and those shards would stick into my skin. I had to very, very carefully pull them out with tweezers to prevent them from breaking off under my skin. I had to sift out the larger pieces for a uniform look. In addition, I didn’t dare use it where my children could reach it because of the tiny shards. I ended up throwing most of it away because it was too stressful to make sure the children couldn’t access it. Since it wasn’t sand and I didn’t know what if was, I didn’t feel like I could trust it to be non-toxic either. ... show more

  • Super dark!
Color: Black
This brand was one of the more affordable online. Considering how dark it is, I would consider it a fantastic value. I did also buy a "red" pack from the same seller. Notice I put red in quotes- 'nough said. But the black! The black is great! It doesn't appear to bother the bearded dragon. I understand there is some skepticism regarding the safety of sand for this species, as well as other terrarium inhabiting critters. While I certainly am not a biologist or anything related, and it's not even my lizard, I would say the most reasonable practice is to monitor your pet responsibly. I know it's just a spider, but I assume you can tell when the thing is upset. I would also like to point out that if sand was the greatest enemy to bearded dragons, then they surely would not live in the Australian desert. ... show more

  • FOR AQUARIUMS: WASH, WASH, & WASH AGAIN!
Color: Black
This is exactly what I needed for my aquarium! It is very fine grain size and is very black with a little bit of natural sparkle to it. 20 lbs gave me just over an inch of coverage in my 20gal aquarium. It really makes me artificial plants pop and under a blue LED will make my gfp axolotl look great! Fair warning, if you are using this as aquarium substrate, wash this sand at least 3 times! I ordered 20 lbs of this as substrate for my axolotl tank and washed it in a 5 gal bucket until the water ran clear. I let it settle, then washed it again. Then I transferred it to my aquarium and 48h later, I'm still waiting for the dust to settle/get filtered out of the water column. It's common for sand to be "dusty" but this stuff definitely needs a little extra washing before it's ready for aquatic use (but it's not marketed as aquarium sand and once it's been washed clean it'll be prefect so I'm not docking any stars). TLDR : Great value for price, nice dark color with some sparkle, wash multiple times if using in aquariums ... show more

  • Black Sand 💯
Color: Black
Black sand made the terrarium look 🔥! I mixed it with a little tan sand so you see speckles in the picture with the dragon.

  • Very nice
Color: Black
Expensive, but I mixed with top soil and a little play sand to create substrate for my bearded dragon. It holds the heat well. Very nice looking. Was looking for another brand that was Australian sand and clay mix, but it was sold out. This is a good alternative.

  • Pretty sure after moving my scorpion into this tank he’s happy
Color: Red
The media could not be loaded. 100% my scorpion loves this Sand he got wild exploring his new Terrerium and this sand + the excavater molding sand caves i made him, is perfect for a 20 Gallon in my opinion at least. At first I thought it was too big but it ended up beeing the perfect size for the Pinchy !! More than enough sand I ended up putting a bit in my ball pythons which is a 40” cage as well not a lot but enough so there was enough for that as well to blend it with some Eco Earth … this stuff is great but expensive yet again if you own reptiles be prepared too burn some $$ ... show more
