The EVIL ENERGY cold air intake is a very nice product. Installation was very simple and easy. From start to finish it took about 45 mins to install. The fit was amazing. I did remove the fan shroud to better help gain access to the throttle body and get the proper angles for the intake pipe. This isn't a necessary step but it will make things easier. Once installed I started the truck up and gave it a little throttle. The difference it made was very noticable, the intake definitely has a noticable sound to it that is very pleasant but not overly loud. This is an amazing intake at a great value but it is really going on my 6.0 motor I'm building and will be replacing the factory engine soon, waiting on a few little things and I'll post updated pics. I have no doubt this intake will really let it breath better. One thing I observed that I thought made this stand out above the rest is the inside of the pipe appears to have been sanded to ensure it's smooth. I have seen other manufacturer leave imperfections in the pipes. The only thing I would like to have seen would be this kit to include some kind of rubber to go around the metal on the intake box, especially around where the intake pipe goes in. This is where the MAF is and the added piece of mind would be nice.

After installing this cold air intake, my truck immediately felt like it could finally take a deep breath. Throttle response is noticeably snappier, acceleration feels more eager, and the engine just seems more awake—like it switched from “Monday morning” mode to “second cup of coffee.” Installation was refreshingly straightforward. Everything lined up as expected, the instructions were clear, and it went on without any cutting, drilling, or creative problem-solving. If you’re comfortable with basic tools, this is very manageable. The airflow setup feels well thought out. The intake tube is smooth and solid, the heat shield does its job keeping hot air away, and the filter setup inspires confidence for both daily driving and dusty conditions. It all looks clean and purposeful under the hood. And yes… the sound. Under acceleration, the engine develops a deeper, more aggressive growl that makes you grin a little. At cruising speed, it calms right down and behaves like a civilized vehicle again. Best of both worlds. Overall, this intake delivers exactly what you hope for: improved responsiveness, a better driving feel, and a more fun engine note—without turning the truck into a noisy diva. A solid upgrade that makes driving more enjoyable, even if the truck still refuses to wash itself.

I installed this cold air intake on my 2006 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 with 5.3L, and it’s been a solid upgrade. Installation was straightforward and took me about 40 minutes with basic hand tools. Everything lined up properly, and I didn’t need to modify or drill anything. Throttle response feels noticeably quicker, especially when accelerating onto the highway. The truck feels a bit more responsive overall, and there’s a slight improvement in power at higher RPMs. It’s not a dramatic change, but definitely noticeable. The intake tube and heat shield look well-made, and the filter seems high quality. I like that it’s washable and reusable, which saves money long term. The added engine sound under acceleration is a nice bonus. It has a deeper tone without being obnoxiously loud during normal driving. Overall, this is a great value performance upgrade. Easy install, improved response, and a better sound. Definitely worth it if you’re looking for a simple bolt-on enhancement.

I ordered the EVIL ENERGY Cold Air Intake and I can't be happier with the construction. All of the mounting hardware and flanges you mount to are nice and thick, no flimsy material. I have a friend who purchased a kit from another manufacturer and we were very disappointed in the quality of their materials. My third pic is a nice example of this, that's the mounting bracket for the main intake tube. The weld is good and the material is about an eighth of an inch thick, so it's not going anywhere. Right now, we're in the middle of an extended cold snap, so I can't get the truck in the barn to install this, but I can't wait. Installation looks like it will be about an hour, but the instructions provided are decent enough, even if you're not used to being under the hood. This kit is a great value, the filter is nice and just like the rest of the hardware, the new filter enclosure is well made with sturdy side walls and all the mounting hardware is included. I can't wait to get this installed and see how the horsepower is post installation! I highly recommend this, you won't be disappointed!
