third a/c i've ever bought, 2nd standing one. i picked this one specifically because of the small footprint. we have a black and decker for the living room but needed something smaller for the bedroom. i haven't gotten to run it too much, but it did a good job cooling the room! the other a/c we have uses a screw to hold the fittings in place, not the little flip switch this one has, so i hope that holds up over time. set up: the book is not very clear how to set it up, in my opinion. i was not sure which direction the vent plugged into the sash fitting (flat side down), and couldn't figure out what the screw was for (i guess additional support for the vent staying in place, except it doesn't seem to do much, there). maybe if i wasn't pouring buckets of sweat at the time it would have been easier. none of the sash fittings ever fit our windows. they are made to be long for vertical openings, i guess. i do not have a fancy saw, or any power tools. however, i do have a big knife. if you do not have tools, figure out where you need to cut the sash to (remember it cannot cover any part of the vent opening, as the vent can't plug in). i'd advise leaving it as long as possible in case you move it to a bigger window someday. turn it flat side down, and make as deep two notches as you can in the fitting (the one without the vent hole). then put the fitting on a sturdy flat surface, with the notches at the edge of it. i used our end table. and press. it will snap pretty easily. :) not too jagged, either. i slid the side i snapped into the vent fitting so it's hidden from sight. cooling ability: cools the bedroom well! i haven't tested if i can use fan science to send the air to the next room yet. noise: kinda noisy. they are all noisy. don't believe it when people say they're sooo quiet. it doesn't get quiet once the room is cool like the black and decker one we have does. remote: easy to use. button labeling is very clear, unlike the manual. overall content! if it fails the summer, i'll update this.

Not sure how long it will last (Freon) or how easy it will be to get serviced when it needs to be. But, this thing works great. We actually got a second since our home has 1 large unit in a 2 story and it’s always warmer upstairs in summer. We got one for each of our daughters rooms so we don’t have to have the house a/c running constantly and it freezing downstairs while they’re sweating upstairs. Plus we can just ac the rooms being used as we do with a few stand up ceramic/electric heaters in winter.

Very glad we bought this AC! We live in the Pacific Northwest where we typically do not need an AC unit, but one of the rooms in our home has a south facing window that BAKES the room (and with the sun setting around 9PM the room doesn’t get a break.) Thankfully, this unit has helped keep the temp cool (at the lowest 60° setting and highest speed, it kept the room while operating at a comfortable 73° which I cannot complain about - beats 85° or higher.) Overall quality seems fine, and is small enough to keep in our closet when not in use. People were complaining about the sound but I’ve had other window units louder than this… it’s an AC unit, it’s going to be making noise. Easy to use, definitely invest in some tape to keep the tube in place when sitting in the window.

Felt the effects immediately after turning it on. Even with the low fan setting, my room's temperature dropped and it felt so good. The unit is actually quieter than the two fans I had running to keep my bedroom cool. So far I am in love and looking forward to this summer when I can walk into a nice cool bedroom. This is our 2nd purchase of this unit. Great price, we love all the features. Not loud AT ALL. ❇️Note-you may have to cut the sealing plate to fit your window. My husband used a sawzall. You will also need to use weatherstripping to secure. My husband had completely in place & running in under 10 minutes. 😎 Don’t hesitate!!!

This thing out-a-the box worked as described and quickly cooled my room to the set temp +/- 2 deg, but would not maintain the set cooling temp. It quickly cooled my bedroom although the claim that it runs at around 55 db (sound level) is quite a stretch. Maybe if you were standing 20 yrds away behind a closed door .... So this thing will not maintain a set temp and I had to turn it on and off manually to keep the room cooled, which is kinda uncool :). The timer wouldn't operate either. I mean it's almost as if there is no timer at all. Though the cooling design is really good the electronics to operate it is ... at the very least ... suspect. Like they installed a doorbell circuit to operate a space shuttle. Yeah a small exaggeration but a huge disappointment. I was able to get in touch with the manufacturer for a small question about draining the unit that was not covered in their manual and they responded quickly, like less than an hour later but when I tried to explain the functional issues I had with it, they went radio silent. All I could do at that point is returned the unit. So stay clear of this one if your looking. I'll shop for another small cooling unit and hope it's just poor quality from this manufacturer and not some intrinsic design flaw. A window unit would be the best choice but they're so ugly, stupid heavy and a pain to install.
