Living in an apartment with a shared living space, finding an AC that doesn't roar over the TV is a huge priority, and this Euhomy 8,000 BTU unit has been a fantastic addition to our main room. Despite its compact size, it actually packs enough punch to cool down the entire living area quickly, which was a relief during those humid "sticky" days. It usually only takes about 20 minutes for us to feel a noticeable drop in temperature, and the 4-in-1 functionality means we can just flip it to fan or dehumidifier mode when we don't need the full blast of the compressor. What really sold me is how quiet the "Sleep Mode" is—even though it's in the living room, we can actually have a normal conversation or watch a movie without having to crank the volume up to max. The remote makes it super easy to adjust the settings from the couch, and the wheels are a nice touch if we ever need to angle the airflow toward the kitchen while cooking. The setup was pretty painless with the window kit, and it’s been a reliable, energy-efficient way to keep our main living space comfortable without the hassle of a heavy window unit.

Day 2, this unit works great for my bedroom 12ft by 14 feet approx 168square feet. The rest of my house is about ~80 degrees from the ambient temperature, but my bedroom is a nice crisp 72 degrees in about 30mins time. Something to be aware of though, this unit unlike a window unit. The EUHOMY and units like it suck up air and expel hot air out the window, this creates a slight negative pressure. Heat from outside the room will be pulled in from the negative pressure. But it still beats using the main house HVAC when only one room needs to be cool. Installation was very easy, it's basically plug and play. Update: You will most likely have to tape the exhaust host to the unit and to your window.

Overall this is a good portable AC unit. I could not immediately locate it but the SACC rating for this unit appears to be 6,000 SACC. What this means is basically it cools about like what a 6,000 BTU window AC unit would. This is despite the unit I bought being 10,000 BTU. Portable ACs as a rule are more inefficient than central air or window units. For myself the 6,000 SACC rating is just fine because it is replacing a 5,000 BTU window unit. Noise level isn't an issue for me since I usually sleep with a white noise generator but I would say overall the noise from this unit on high is about comparable to the 5,000 BTU window AC unit it replaced. Perhaps just slightly more noise. The features on this unit are good. The remote control unit is functional with most of what you would want. Two omissions I would have liked to see are 1. A current temperature reading for what it is in the room and 2. Programming functionality so say set it for 76 degrees when I am at work, 72 at night, and 74 degrees when I am home. The biggest downside of this unit is the external hose and connecting material. Overall they are of decent quality however the connection mechanism is absolutely horrible. Yes I can get it together and to seemingly stay in place but not with any confidence at all just using what is provided. I have an eight pound cat and I'm pretty sure she could easily knock the hose out of it's position in the window mounting. Also where the hose threads into the mounting supports on both ends, it was very difficult to get it in correctly. When I read all the complaints I expected this but when I saw the video I had figured it was just a case of people not reading the instructions. Well, no. It really is that bad-- but it is fixable. The easy and cheap method is just to use some tape. You could use duct tape as I did but after applying it I learned it's not the best as the heat from the exhaust hose can actually melt the tape. Instead you should get special tape meant for HVAC systems which can withstand the heat of the exhaust hose (maybe 110 degrees F). Another option is to just get a portable AC installation kit for your window. This is probably the best choice but it will cost you some money. I don't know why the company made connection mechanism like this. It seems silly when it should be relatively cheap and easy to fix simply by using some sort of locking mechanism to properly look the hose in place at both ends and where it threads into the mounts. For this reason I have deducted a star. I've only had it for about a day now so cannot speak to the longevity (but I will update this if it fails within two years so if you don't see an update that is good news!) but it seems to be of decent quality so far. Cooling is pretty good as well. I have this unit on the second floor in a bedroom in Florida and it can cool the small 12ft by 12ft room down to 75 when it is 90 degrees outside. This is enough to make it feel comfortable. As far as water drainage goes, I'm a bit nervous about it. The manual doesn't talk at all about the drainage much. There is apparently a small tank inside the unit to collect the drainage. There is also a hose you can attach to drain it externally. I'm hearing that most people just need to drain it seasonally (so once or twice a year). I also see that according to the manual the tank fills up it is supposed to stop automatically and trigger an error. The one thing I don;t want this to do is leak. It seems to me it would have been better to have another small hole at the window where I could run the tube out to drain it automatically. Of course that would likely require some sort of pump as well.

Unit looks great, nice size, great price, was easy for us to install. Air came out nice and cool immediately, and the air flow is robust, which I like. I did not find it especially loud, like all the other complaints. It's the same noise level as other AC units, maybe even less. THE PROBLEM - it just didn't cool my office space of only 72 square feet. The compressor came on, kicked out cold air for about 3 minutes, then the compressor switched off and blew only air instead, while still on the "cool" setting. There is no way to tell the compressor to come back on. I made sure the hose was as straight as we could get it, no blocking of any air intake or outflow, unit not close to any walls. I turned it off and back on, I set the temp at 60 degrees - the lowest it will go, but could not find a way to force the compressor to stay on. The first day the unit itself registered room temp as 91 degrees, but still wouldn't keep the compressor on. I ran it for 4 hours in a row (every afternoon) for three days in a row. The compressor occasionally comes back on, and when it does, the cooling is great! But then after a couple minutes, the cooling turns itself off again and just blows air. The very best I can say is if I turned it on right when the office hit 80 degrees, the AC unit can keep it down around 82-84. And that is better than without the unit, but still nothing more than an expensive fan.

Awesome and powerful air conditioner! I was told to always buy a little bit bigger “BTU” than your actual room size. Live in Florida this keeps my living room cold just having it on 72. First time to buy one of these non window units and I love it. When my heat pump went out several years ago I was quoted $6,500. To replace it and it wasn’t even cooling my house down. Been using window units ever since and have found my electric bill was relatively cheaper using window units almost 1/2 compared to the heat pump! This unit doesn’t block the window like window units do! I will definitely be buying more of these as other windows units go out!

This is nice but the temperature reading is off by 5 degrees (I've tested it against three separate thermometers). So, if your room is 65 degrees it will read 60 and won't turn on. I actually would prefer my bedroom to be 60 but 65 degrees is the best you're going to get. Other than that, it works just fine it's pretty loud--which I don't mind as it's white noise to me but, if you're watching TV you're going to have to adjust your volume up and down as it turns off and on. It's pretty loud and honestly, I hear very little difference in sleep mode and regular mode or even sleep vs high. It's pretty loud.
