This thing is awesome. Great picture quality nice and clear. The auto tracking is what I wanted most. I wanted something that would wood someone coming down the driveway as well as covering the front of the garage and the house. 1 month in, generally a good product. It met all my requirements for video quality, modularity, no power requirement. The solar panel works really well and provides sufficient power to keep the camera power at 100% most of the time. The camera is very efficient and overnight usually drops to mid 95% power level. I like the tracking feature where camera follows the motion. One great feature is built in AI that allows you to track cars and individuals only and ignores everything else. Most other modular cameras require monthly subscription for that function. The camera also has the capability to integrate and write on a remote recording hub which adds an additional layer of protection for your video recordings. Things that could improve are the attachment bracket which is a very fragile plastic part that makes it easy to snatch. The motion capture is somewhat slow and does not kick in fast enough for faster moving objects, like cars, and you don't get to see it coming until the subject is almost out to the view. **update** decided to give this model camera another shot. Reset the original E42 camera several times over a three day period. it would never connect to my homebase 3 whatsoever. Eufy was nice enough to send me a “Wi-Fi repeater“ but all that seem to do was add another layer of chain that which just caused problems. It provided just as bad of a signal as the original homebase to the camera did. I’m running a ubiquity/UniFi set up all around my home. My entire property has beautiful 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz signal. I just do not understand for the life of me why one of my eufy cameras in the same exact place in my yard connected to the same exact homebase and the same exact Wi-Fi network can work night and day as far as connection, quality and picture. I love the look of this camera man when it works on Wi-Fi it’s great. But what’s the point of having a homebase if you can’t connect to it? their cameras are either absolutely phenomenal or complete train wrecks like this one, the E42. I just don’t get it, it’s not like they are reinventing the wheel every time they come out with a new camera. Does not work well with homebase three and the Wi-Fi seems to be weaker than other models as well. Tried all kinds of troubleshooting, moving it, pairing it, unpair Ing it, resetting it, trying different SD cards, tried it on a different homebase nothing fixed the glitches and unreliability of this camera. I’ll never learn my lesson with them. Not sure why they constantly release cameras before they actually work correctly. ... show more

The first SD card I got failed to format, but then I found a list of SD cards that had been tested and found to work. We bought 2 E42 units to run solo at 2 properties (no homebase). One we set up to run with direct USB power, and the other to run off of the solar panel. Both were outfitted with 128GB microSD cards. In general both have worked well, good images and decent tracking. The one on direct power the Ap permits more capability including continuous recording, longer event recording (up to 120s), and 4K streaming. The one on solar works good and the panel does a good job keeping the battery charged, but most clips are rather short ... most less than 10 seconds. Where these are disappointing are in 2 areas. One fault is many times when the Ap alerts you that it has detected a vehicle, a person, or motion, but when you go to watch the clip it wont be in event list and never actually shows up! This is clearly a very bad bug in the Ap!! The bigger disappointment is that the Ap allows you to have it detect Vehicle, Human, and Motion and uses one overall sensitivity level for all, on a scale of 1 to 7. You want to keep it on high (7) to have it detect the furthest, which does work for vehicles and human detection, but it then detects the slightest thing for Motion, including light changes, shadows, reflections, and a leaf blowing across the ground … anything. AI is turned on to help prevent such endless motion alerts but it clearly is weak. At night on IR, even a tiny bug flying by the lens fast or a dust particle will trigger a motion event. Even lowering the sensitivity to (1) motion events for bugs and dust will still trigger an event more than once a minute at times! Terrible. The only way around it is to disable motion detection all together, which means it wont catch wildlife, such as a dog running in the yard, or a kid riding by on a bicycle. For now we will use these E42s, as we mainly need them for security and for LIVE VIEW but can not recommend it. them. ... show more

So I replaced an old ring camera with this one. It’s better video quality and has a spotlight. The best part is I don’t need a paid subscription to use it. The motion panning is awesome.
