The one thing upon install is ensuring that the cameras are placed where they will be able to get some sunlight. We own both the older, bulkier S220 solar cam and this newer one which i recently bought in a 2 pack to protect my 2nd property. This is such a great value and it’s everything you need to monitor your property. Because this is solar you can mount it anywhere outdoors - no wiring needed! It’s easy to set up! We have one attached to an exterior 2nd story wall (installed from indoors by a window) and another just sitting on a rock wall/planter in our yard. We find these solar cams more reliable than the wired ones! Even if the internet and electricity is down, later we’ll have the video. The motion detection range is great too. The only time the solar power failed was when we didn’t have any direct sunlight for over 2 weeks! I live in New England and even still this was a brief, rare occurrence. All in all, i own 6 eufy cams including a (wired) doorbell cam and a (wired) floodlight cam (which was my first cam) plus these. They have helped protect my property from intruders and trespassers. This solar cam at my 2nd property caught a man in a pickup truck driving onto my yard. 😣 The video captured both his appearance and his license plate. Cops were are able locate & deal with him. These solar ones are our fav, and I wouldn’t go without them. Two or three and a doorbell cam is all you need to protect your whole property from the exterior. ... show more

These cameras are great! Very easy to set up. The solar option was the biggest sell point. Charging the batteries isn't alwasy an easy option when you mount the cameras in a difficult to reach location. The video at night makes you think it's still daytime. Brightness and clarity is unmatched.

The pros: it’s quick and easy to setup. There’s no subscription to worry about. Video quality is ok. You can record when accessing the camera. The cons: it will only record up to 20 seconds. If something triggers the camera and it stops recording it doesn’t start recording again until maybe a minute is up. When you access the camera remotely, the sound won’t kick on until it detects a noise. ... show more

    • Won't detect a vehicle!

This was my third set of cameras on my house. I started with Blink which was very slow to detect motion and very short on recordings so I got a lot of useless, short recordings. Then I got Tapo C120's that are very compact and work GREAT but you have to plug them in to an outlet. They were about forty-five bucks with the added 256GB cards I put in them. But I got suckered in to getting these Eufy S220's because of a sale and liking the self charging solar feature. THE GOOD: These are "fairly" compact considering they have a solar panel. Easy to set up, install, and get connected to the app. For the week that I used them the battery remained well charged with sunny days on the solar panel. I set up two - one on a side entry door and one facing my driveway. THE BAD: The mount allows for limited sideways view for trying to capture my side entry door, and is a little wonky to install and twist together, but I got it to do an adequate job. There also are only 2 settings for motion detection: Humans or Everything. My Tapo has Human, Pet, Vehicle and All Motion. The Eufy effective range is only about 15'. My Tapo's pick up motion (and know what category - vehicle, pet, or human) out to about 100'. THE UGLY: Trying to get a vehicle detected. Like I said, one of my cameras faces my driveway and covers the beginning of the walkway to the front door. These cameras have no problem detecting people but had about a 10% success rate of detecting a vehicle. I would have a car pull into the driveway and the camera wouldn't record until a person got out and started walking around! I contacted tech support and they said to up the sensitivity. I upped it to the max and then got 50 notifications (or more) a day because of vegetation moving or the shadow from my flag crossing the driveway. I tried to tweak detection zones away from such areas to no avail. If I decreased the sensitivity at all I would get ZERO vehicles detected. And night detection of a vehicle was impossible. I finally realized these cameras just don't work well and decided to send them back. I will be reinstalling my corded Tapos because using these Eufys showed me just how well those cameras work. Small but mighty! Very clear pictures and videos. Easy set up and nice I can connect them all to change settings on all cameras at the same time. Wide angle view covers my entire big backyard. Daytime is color videos night time they are black and white. Program away mode and they have an alarm. Not super loud but enough to scare some off. Great value for the money and sensitive motion detection. I’m super impressed with these little cameras. They charge themselves with built in solar panel.
