After some amazon searching I liked the look of these over any others i found by far but was a bit wary after reading some of the other reviews about damage after shipping. I ordered 3 fences, and I'm happy to report they arrived in perfect condition. Perhaps I was lucky, or the fact I ordered 3 and they helped provide rigid support to each other inside the shipping box helped. These are definitely made of cheap wood fiber that could easily break, but I knew that going into it thanks to the reviews and my experience for the holidays was perfect.     • I bought two gates, and both arrived broken. Very flimsy and poorly packaged!!
I purchased two of these gates, and both arrived broken. Each gate had two pickets that had broken off completely. I attribute the problem to poor manufacturer packaging and the flimsiness of the gate itself. The material that the gates are made of looks more like compressed cardboard than a wood composite. Like the look, does the job, needs sturdier hinges. I spent about 30 mins replacing the hinges with sturdier hinges. This fence has gotten knocked over several times and the hinges bend out of place easily. A better quality hinge made it hold up a lot better. We use it to keep our small dogs out of the bedroom and to keep them from going upstairs. I am ordering a second fence because we need it and I really like the look. Its cute--dont know that it would work for a dog or even a small puppy.....i bought this to use as a photography prop for easter mini sessions. Perfect for that Knocked off a few stars for construction. It will need repainted (shows bare spots and paint drips) also arrived with a broken hinge that will nees replaced. I do think its perfect for my purpose of using as a photography prop--but doubt it will hold up longer than one easter season (for 28$ its perfect) ... show more

The first we recieved was damaged during shipping but the box was undamaged. The replacement was poorly painted, wood was visible on much of the "fence". The hinges used are extremely low quality. The hinge pins on two of hinges slid out when standing it up. I replaced them, bent up the little hinge pin cover and then they both slide out again. I bought my first Etna white picket fence folding pet gate in 2015 at a brick-and-mortar store and it obviously wasn't damaged. I used this fence as a Christmas decoration and not as a pet gate (I personally don't think it's sturdy enough to block pets). I wanted three more fences to make a complete circle around my Christmas tree to keep an elderly cat from chewing the tree branches, so I ordered them through Amazon (sold by Glitzy Gift Shop, supplied by "Other"). The first gate out of the box had a screw broken out of the hinge (crack at left in box), as did the second gate out of the box (crack at right in box), per image. The third gate out of the box had a picket completely broken off the fence (top left in second image). I arranged to have them picked up the next day and returned. It was easy working with the Amazon Return Center, they generated a return shipping label directly to UPS and the driver arrived with the label, stuck it to the box, and took it away. My refund was processed 12 days later. I decided there must have been a change in manufacturing between 2015 and 2023 that "they just don't make them like they used to". I wouldn't buy another of these gates unless I could look it over before purchasing (and I don't need more because I chose another way to barricade the tree from the cat). ... show more

    • Works well for good dogs
My dog needs a visual deterrent to stop her from going into an area. This works well. Looks nice, easy to step over. If you have a dog that will push against something to get through you might want a fence that installs with tension instead
