INITIAL IMPRESSION The Essential Elements for Strings - Cello Book 1 arrived in perfect condition. The layout is clean and the inclusion of the EEi (Essential Elements Interactive) online access code adds significant value for those who want digital resources to supplement the physical book. - Curriculum Pace: This is an absolute beginner method book. It breaks down the very basics of tone and rhythm in a way that is easy to digest. - Target Audience: The tone and instruction style are very much geared toward "young learners." If you are an adult student, some of the phrasing might feel a bit juvenile. PROS - Strong Fundamentals: It does a great job of building technique from the ground up, making it a reliable choice for someone who has never touched a cello. - Online Integration: The EEi access provides helpful tools for students and teachers to track progress and practice with accompaniment. CONS - Instructor-Dependent: Some of the lessons are written with a classroom setting in mind, frequently telling the student to wait for an instructor's permission before proceeding or advising them not to "mess around" with the instrument. - Adult Use: While the technical information is solid, the "student/teacher" dynamic in the text might not be the most engaging for an independent adult learner. The book is thin on content and had to buy as elementary music requirements for kids. Instead of teaching kids about money, they're teaching how to busk on the streets. I degress. Not a lot of value with this book for the price paid. Just another way to shell out money that won't bring a return for the most people. ... show more
