  • Good product. Bad packaging.
Size: 30.5" dia.
The fire pit itself is really quite lovely. The packaging was completely useless. Just a bunch of broken styrofoam with the two pieces of the fire pit loose in the box. The two piece did rub against one another so it did arrive scratched, but on the inside of the fire bowl which will be black with soot soon anyways. I would purchase again, just dinged one star for the crappy packaging. ... show more

  • I made the right choice
Size: 30.5" dia.
I spent a few months trying to find this exact fire pit and a few weeks deciding between the FF90 and the smaller version. The criteria: -Durable I would say this is number 1, as bad as I wanted a fire pit, every time I went to a big box store all their fire pits looked like they would last one season. I heard sand would help absorb the heat, but that sounds like a hassle. The FF90 feels and looks solid, the walls are thick and the weight alone gives me confidence that I'll have this fire pit for a while. The styrofoam was smashed a bit when we received it, but let's be honest, the styrofoam is just there to protect the box, not the fire pit. The screws that attach the base are very thick and they don't appear to be soft aluminum screws, I was able to really apply force to tighten them down without the head being stripped. -Cost In reality I would have liked to spend around $100 and I did consider the smaller version to the FF90, which I will talk about later. I wasn't about spend over $300 either, even though I'm sure they were well built. I was surprised when I found this fire pit that it wasn't in the $600 range because of it's comparable features. -Size The fire pit had to be large enough for standard logs so no extra chopping was necessary and be able to fit a large family. This fire pit can easily handle 17" logs without concern, stacking the wood into a pound sign (#). When trying to decide on the smaller/cheaper version I was concerned with how many people would fit around the fire. I can't really comment on the smaller version but the other night we had 8 people comfortably sitting around the FF90. -Overall I'm glad I found the FF90 and I'm glad I spent the extra money over the smaller version. ... show more

  • Great piece! Highly recommend. Packaging sucks.
Size: 30.5" dia.
I love this firepit! It's very sturdy steel, super heavy and easy to assemble. It's big and looks wonderful in our backyard. We have terra-cotta tiles outside so I took 4 of the extra tiles and used them as a heat base just to protect the installed tiles. Because the ring-base is recessed, you can stick your feet near the base and keep them warm while the fire is going, unlike some of the high-sided fire pits that only have heat at the top. Took off one star because the packaging is nowhere near strong enough for such a heavy piece; it was essentially destroyed by the time we got it, and the delivery driver just dumped the whole thing in our driveway. Not cool. But the piece is so sturdy that it survived, and otherwise I love it. Would also love to see an optional spark screen made to fit with this! Don't want to be responsible for any more wildfires than we already have in California... ... show more

  • Well built fire pit - worth doing some prep work for the long term.
Size: 30.5" dia.
Researched a dozen other fire pit candidates and this appeared to be large enough and made to last at a reasonable price. We have used it for several weeks and it has performed exceptionally well. I did some initial prep work prior to use though. I purchase hi-temp spray primer and black paint (both from Rust-Oleum) to reduce the chance of it rusting after numerous uses and intermittent rain (we live in Winter Park, FL). Followed directions on cans, being sure to spray multiple thin layers (with 1 hr dry times for each layer) on the inner bowl and one layer of both primer and black paint on the outer bowl. After initial applications of primer and black paint, I let it sit for 24 hours before using a heat gun to cure the inner bowl by apply mild heat, then medium heat, then prolonged (higher) heat passes over the course of several hours. I am very confident that this painting/curing process will ensure the fire pit will be rust free for a very long time. As of now, I haven't purchased a spark screen, but may do so later if sparks become an issue. This purchase has really upped the enjoyment level of our back yard! ... show more

  • Super heavy
Size: 30.5" dia.
This is exactly as described - a genuine, cast-iron fire pit. I looked everywhere for a clean-lined, more modern look that wouldn’t break the bank, and something made of iron. This is ideal. Because it’s cast iron, I painted it with heavy-duty, heat-resistant black paint before I used it to deter rust. I figure I’ll do that every season. I keep a black aluminum cover over it when it’s not in use (purchased on Etsy). It took two big guys to haul this thing from my front porch to my back, so don’t plan on lifting or moving it yourself. Packaging was ridiculously weak. Just a flimsy cardboard box not made for something of this weight. Fortunately it arrived undamaged. ... show more

  • Wow! Very good value!
Size: 30.5" dia.
Quite frankly I'm puzzled as to why this fire bowl is so inexpensive relative to those offered by competitors. It's very large compared to similar bowls I've seen at twice the price, and it's cast iron compared to similarly priced fire pits I've owned which are made out of sheet metal. It's so solidly built that I can barely lift it. I guess that is one drawback ;-). If you like simple modern design then it looks a lot better than anything you can get at your local big box hardware store and again its less than half the price of similar items from design retailers. The only negative thing that I have noticed with it is that the painted surface is very easily scratched (it will come with a number of scratches just from manufacturing and shipping) which isn't at all noticeable unless you leave it out in the rain. If you do all of the scratches will very quickly turn into rust marks. However, that doesn't necessarily bother me. If after a few years of use it has kind of a rusted 'patina' I still think it will look cool. I'm sure more expensive cast iron units from the design stores will do exactly the same. Definitely recommended. ... show more
