The media could not be loaded. I make great French press and Americano like a barrista which tastes much better than espresso or italian Moka according to myself and coworkers. After trying a few of these espresso machines I'm assured there is no better way to make coffee than using traditional funnel (pour over coffeemaker) and good quality paper filters. Just use your favorite coffee and do NOT use fine grind for the best taste and joyful strength. Medium towards fine grind is the best... ... show more

    • Solid choice for beginners- allows trial and error..!!!
With a daughter-in-law who’s barista certified she helped select a machine solid enough to invest in and go some distance. The key was finding a device without too many whistles or bells to operate as a laymen.. but could still produce a quality Cup of espresso. The overall results were positive.. but, I’ll admit- not always pretty!! I appreciate the manual states this takes a little practice with trial + error.. For some reason seeing that in print takes the pressure off!! Pros: Choice of coffee grounds- allows endless variety. Price is not set by pods alone!! Milk frothing can be varied by milk of choice. Easy to clean- a huge perk. Filter discard is so easy. Smaller height- fits under cupboards above. Small footprint- size allows to be left out for sure. Easy to follow manual with step/step instructions. H2o container size for 2-3 cups before refill need. Encourages practice and trial-and-error.. Ugly coffee results still taste delish! Cons: Steam release blows water before steaming milk!! (unsure how to avoid the coffee without using another “catch cup” till water dropping ends and steam kicks in to do it’s job…) maybe user error!!? Clean seems easy- but is there correct method?? No printed cleanup instructions. A few things I’ve learned to navigate.. only I’m not sure it’s intended to be that way- (ie., steam spurt h2o before actual milk..) Is this avoidable? I’m not sure- but a more savvy user may know better how to fix/handle scenarios such as this. The fact that they haven’t altered quality cup of espresso it’s just a nuance I deal with. Otherwise, this is very rock solid and straight forward. An 800# for Q/A would be helpful offered by company for questions if they arise. The media could not be loaded. Lightweight espresso maker: First - understand that this is not a heavy-duty full featured espresso machine. It makes espresso and steamed milk! It does have nice features such as both a single and double espresso setting, and a hot water dispenser. Portafilter size is approx 51.3mm, slightly smaller than my counter-top commercial machine (54mm). A machine this small doesn't include a grinder, you'll have to purchase that separately or order an espresso grind when you purchase your coffee. I tested this with ground espresso from my counter-top machine. The plastic tamper worked, but I would have preferred a heavier stainless steel tamper. I also would have preferred a heavier portafilter. This was lightweight, and the filter basket (two sizes included, single shot and double shot), fit loosely in the portafilter. Removing the filter basket initially wasn't clear, and I didn't see it referenced in the directions. Turning the filter basket until a small notch on top lines up with the handle allows a dimple to slide up a notch. Once I figured it out, it was easy to remove/replace. The loose filter basket isn't a problem, it allows the basket to easily be removed. I just was more familiar with a wire spring secured basked in my other espresso machine. The height was slightly too low for a standard coffee mug, even when tilting it under the espresso head. It fit my cappuccino mugs with no problems. We'll use this as a portable machine for our camper, or for a college dorm. I'll probably find a better tamper, I was hoping my countertop tamper would work but as noted it was larger. Despite the slight drawbacks, it is a very nice looking machine and makes a great cup of espresso/cappuccino! PROs: Small and compact, nice for a dorm or camper. Works well - makes a great cup of coffee! Steaming wand doubles as a hot-water dispenser Comes with two sizes for either a single or double shot espresso CONs: Portafilter is lightweight tamper is lightweight plastic Additional step required to select "steam" after making espresso. Steam wand defaults to water unless STEAM pressed (front far right button) Switching from STEAM back to hot water (turning off steam function) took a couple tries, but then worked fine. ... show more
