I tried these on a whim attempting to fit my style and preferred tone on my Epiphone. The tone shifted after a couple weeks and it really hit a sweet spot that Im now obsessed with. I'd say these favor fingerpicking, especially with nails. They are very bright and the higher strings really ring out so you get some shimmery overtones, but the lower strings are not as dynamic. Often with my thumb on the low strings, the guitar and string combo are closer to a nylon classical guitar feel. So I can see why these strings are not for everyone. I use these strings in more of a sit down, classy affair type of setting, and barre chords can have a subdued quality to them. Bends are a breeze. These strings lend themselves well to jazzier stuff, fingerpicking, "gentle" type of stuff. That said the way they ring out make them nice for country and folk, and the way they bend make blues melodies nice to play. So they are pretty versatile if somewhat quirky. ... show more

Overall, these strings are great. They are relatively bright in their intonation, however I can hear a definitive difference in the loss of low/mid tones. If you prefer a richer, deeper tone from your acoustic, these strings aren't going to do it as well as others. The strings have something of a "springy" twang that I rather like and I would likely get them again since they make my guitar's higher action easier to deal with longer for bar chords. You should get these strings if: - You are dealing with higher action - Prefer a lighter and brighter sound - Do a lot of bends You might not want these strings if: - You need a tone that's deep, rich, and full spectrum - You have a lower action guitar (the light weight of these strings might cause them to vibrate too wide and cause buzz) - You have difficulty controlling your grip on chords (these strings bend much easier, if you have a tight grip you might accidentally bend your tone off key) ... show more

Rating how something sounds is tough because it's so subjective. I personally love the sound of these string on my acoustic. I will say tho I do have bigger hands so I do not do well with really light strings but the medium light sound great. Far as long-lasting I use my guitar everyday and these strings hold up very very well. ... show more
