Ensure that the device you are testing is powered on and in operation. The detector measures electromagnetic fields generated during device operation. No, this device is designed to detect electromagnetic radiation fields (EMF), not radio frequency (RF) signals. It cannot measure signal strength from mobile phones, Wi-Fi routers, or cell towers. I bought this meter because I live near large power lines and wanted to get actual readings inside my home rather than just wondering about the exposure. It was incredibly easy to use and gave me a lot of useful information. I was relieved to find that the magnetic field readings inside my home and on my daughter’s bed were very low, even though the meter clearly detected higher readings when I walked closer to the power lines. It was also really interesting to test everyday household items. I was surprised by the higher electric field readings near things like our air purifiers, TVs, and other plugged-in electronics. Being able to move the meter away and watch the readings drop helped me understand what kind of clearance I wanted from certain items. I ended up unplugging a few things in my bedroom when they aren’t being used, including my electric blanket. Overall, this is a great little tool. Easy to use, great value, and it provides useful information that helped me make a few simple changes around my home. Very happy with this purchase!

This tester gives useful indications of where problem exposures to damaging electromagnetic radiation might be coming from. Reading some of the reviews, it's apparent many reviewers don't understand EMF or how this tester works. EMF is very complex, and not as simple as on or off. The fields this device measures can vary a lot for reasons unrelated to the tester. They always require some interpretation. We dont even know for sure what the effects on our body are for specific readings, and they even vary from person to person. But the red screen is a clear indication of risk you should deal with. It's like a check engine light in your car -- you don't need to be a mechanic to know you need to get service. I suggest everyone interested in protecting themselves read Joseph Mercola "EMF*D" as a good introduction to EMF risks and what to do about them. This tester is limited to lower frequencies emitted by the most common problem devices surrounding us. It won't read the higher frequencies of new 5g systems, but if you protect yourself from 5g but not all the other lower frequency emissions, you haven't helped yourself. You can't prevent every damaging source unless you move to the deep forest somewhere, but you can reduce your exposure a lot if you know what to look for. This little tester is a big help for that. If you find there are exposure risks you can't eliminate by moving or removing devices, you might need help from a qualified EMF electrician with more sensitive testers and experience in cleaning them up. Knowing where to look is the first step.

I have two cell towers above my work. I bought it to test the location. The cell techs told me no RF shoots down under the towers but parallel to the ground. When I used the tester inside the building I had almost zero readings. When I went up in elevation the meter went off and was beeping. It consistently only read RF when going upstairs. So the meter works but I can't contest to how accurate the readings are.

Great and interesting to use but just not so sure about the accuracy/sensitivity of the sensor as it changed drastically within a day. It used to be a lot more sensitive and it was picking up higher numbers but after a day or so it seemed to have a lot lower numbers when I measured the same things which should be the same measurement and not fluctuate much. So now I really don't know which is more accurate, I think the first day I had it, it was most accurate. It would be great to know what was the more accurate number or reading. Its a great tool to use and very insightful to use and you'd be surprised how much EMF is being emitted from all various areas/electrical tools/machines/objects. The light switches seemed to have a lot of E-Field's all various tech devices have a lot of e and magnetic fields, fans have a lot of magnetic fields, its hard to find any area where I live that doesn't have any EMF! lol I just wish this device was like how it used to work when I first got it, I feel like it was more accurate. Though I guess its better than it not working at all. I also wish there was some information about EMF and its effects on the human body, but perhaps that might not be easy for the maker to include as its hard to make any health claims without substantial evidence...

Certainly one gleans some very interesting information from this meter... but it could be almost terrifying out of context. One of the things I would point out that this product could improve is the DOCUMENTATION. The manual with the product isn't very thorough. (And yes, rare for me: this time I actually DID read the manual provided before proceeding because I didn't know at all how to use it.) But even after reading the manual, all I learned were the parts of the meter and screen items... very little about HOW TO USE or how to APPLY what I learn from using the meter. So, in that gap, I will offer a few basic pointers: - Meter's E-Field relates to the ELECTRIC FIELD detected o Units are in Volts per Meter o Unsafe level tends to be over 40 V/M - Meter's H-Field relates to the MAGNETIC FIELD detected o Units are in micro-Teslas or milli-Gauss o Unsafe level tends to be over 0.4 µT or 4 mG And it must be noted that testing immediately near any radiation/magnetic source like a router, microwave oven, TV, charger, etc isn't the same as testing a "reasonable distance" from these. Danger comes in where the ambient or background levels of EF or MF exceeds these "relatively safe" levels, not where sitting right on top of something. So when you're testing, walk around a bit. Try to put the meter down or prop it up, or place it on a tripod or something (so your body's own ability to conduct interference isn't in the test loop). This little meter is quite good at testing and detecting radiation. The more you KNOW, the more you can PROTECT yourself against risks. One of the BIGGEST OFFENDERS, I learned, was a SUPERSONIC BUG ZAPPER and CO2 sensor thing we have plugged in. It really went off the charts in both Elec and Magnetic Radiation overages!!!
