In one "test". a broken telephone line was "temporarily" reconnected (for about 6 months) using these clip leads in a very damp basement environment. The clips didn't corrode, and the crimp connections stayed solid. However, the vinyl-like wire insulation and the vinyl-like clip boots became slightly moldy. Such did not seem to affect their functionality, but still merited a slight downgrade. ... show more

For the same price as a different brand which falsely advertised 18 AWG (when in reality it was closer to 28 or 30 AWG) and only stamp/crimped the wire into the clip, these have thicker conductors and are actually soldered. The rubber boot is slightly slippery on some clips, but most are not slippery, and even the ones that are slightly slippery can still be operated with one hand. These are the ones to get. I ordered a pack of 20, checked every clip and all are acceptably soldered. Not perfect IPC-A-610 solder joints, but quite good for this price. I like that the clip covers are easy to pull back - easy to use for gripping larger to smaller items. I measured each with a low-cost meter and all of them had lower resistance than the meter could measure (<0.1Ω) - consistently good. Don't bother with other clips that are not soldered. The ones that are only crimped are worthless. I used crimped clips with no solder a few times very early in my EE career and pretty quickly found that almost no measurements of anything were valid (very frustrating). I've also seen clip leads with wires that fracture the second time you flex them. I don't think these will have that problem. For general low-cost hobby work, these are a good way to go. ... show more

Definitely a cut above most the other offerings, being that these are nicely soldered. Fairly easy to compress too, unlike most that are so slippery it is almost impossible to squeeze them open. Grip of clip to that end is also more than adequate for purpose. Wire seems to be a little heavier gauge and resistance is negligible when measured, ... show more
