At this price-point, the WF-3820 is a winner for a home printer with not much printing volume. It prints well. It was easy to set up the printer and wireless printing from a couple of computers. It uses ink cartridges. While Epson goes to great lengths to advertise/tout its cartridge-free printer models, if you don't print a lot this unit will do fine for you. Did I mention that it's relatively cheap? Has a fax function, but I don't have a landline anymore. It is a bit tall, and you have to open the scanner to access the ink cartridges; so beware if you're putting it in a cabinet or shelf without some decent head room. ... show more

Bought this as a replacement for a small office HP that died on us. It is a good machine. Nice features at a reasonable cost. Good color, full duplex, excellent scanning, and reasonable speed. The drivers are fairly crappy in that they constantly want to update and are poorly written and appear to send too much data home. (max out two cores on a modern i7 for a tiny printer driver update.) Overall a good machine and excellent for the price. Epson ink is ridiculously priced so went with high quality refurbished ink cartridges. Worked great at a good price. Fast forward to July 2022. Epson pushes firmware update for "performance, stability, and security updates" that seems harmless. Who doesn't install newer firmware when it is offered? After the firmware update the printer claimed that the ink cartridges were faulty and refused to function. Turns out that the printer is now a brick until I buy genuine Epson ink refills at an exorbitant price. Turns out the company has had a number of class actions against them in the past for this very shady practice. Time to write up some copy for social media and contact a lawyer. It should be illegal to remove capabilities from a product that has been bought and paid for and working for months. Certainly I will never buy another Epson product and neither will anyone at my company. ... show more

Loses connection with wifi often. Expensive refill cartridges. Slow. Inexpensive and you get what you pay for. I have had this printer 2 years now and i dont have to use it as often as when I was working full time do i have tolerated it. Its less efficient than the HP i had before but they inactivated that printer the first time i used an off brand ink cartridge. I didnt know they could do that. This was exactly what I needed. Some of the other printers were too expensive, had more features than what I needed, or they didn't have enough features. I'm not a small business but I do work from home. So, this one is just right for wfh workers. It prints fast and the copy comes out of the front. The paper is loaded into the drawer in front too. I'm happy its not a top loading printer, because I do not like those. And most importantly for me was the ease of setup. It was a little old school with the disc but I appreciated that. The setup uses a little old school ingenuity with new school execution. That made the setup simple. I don't know why these other products are making the product setup more complicated. I was looking for a pigment-based inkjet printer to use for some inkjet shirt transfers.After some looking around, i settled on this one. I already had an epson sublimation printer, and that has been great, so i stuck with the brand, and am glad I did. Hard to believe it was only $99. Maybe others on here have limited experience with setting up a printer, but this was a breeze. Network connection worked flawlessly the first time, and i've already printed two shirts. While I don't plan on printing a lot other than these shirt transfers, its nice to know that I have a quality color option if i need it . (i have a laser printer for everyday stuff). Did I mention how fast this thing is? It's nuts. Anyway even though it's only been a few days, I highly recommend this inkjet. ... show more

The device worked fine, and web based content suggested keeping the device turned on to assist with keeping the printer heads clean. While this seemed practical, not sure if this process drains the ink, as it’s been less than 9 months, and with very little print activity, and I have had to replace the black print cartridge. I did add a blank ink cartridge (Amazon purchase, see following link) "https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZDW5MLH?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details" replacements, which worked fine until I followed the device prompt for the firmware updates. After the completion of that process resulted in the following device response: “Epson WF-4720 series cannot recognize ink cartridge”. While I tried multiple fix scenarios, nothing worked except replacing the cartridge with an authorized Epson replacement cartridge. Here's to hoping that the other color cartridges replacements (Amazon purchased, referenced above) don't respond with the same error message. By the way, I replaced my old laser printer that was used for occasional printing requirements. This device was purchased to replace an existing laser printer, and a separate scanner. The scanner portion of this Epson printer has worked as expected despite the printer ink not recognized error. The printer quality and image scans meet my requirements, however, Epson’s ink cartridge quality, and pricing may be an issue for some which attributes to my above rating. ... show more
