Description

Your busy home needs a printer that’s fast, affordable, easy to use, and has premium features. That’s why we developed the EcoTank ET-3830 – an innovative cartridge-free solution that uses high-capacity, easily refillable ink tanks. So you’ll worry less about running out of ink, and save a lot on replacement ink (1). The ET-3830 features fast printing with outstanding print quality, productive paper handling, a high-resolution flatbed scanner, and a large color display – making it the perfect printer for productive families. Epson strongly recommends the use of genuine ink to ensure optimal print quality and performance. Use of non-genuine ink could cause damage not covered under the printer’s ltd. wnty. | 1. Actual savings and costs will vary considerably based on print tasks, print volumes and usage conditions. Savings and cost per ISO page are based on the cost of replacement ink bottles and the cost of enough standard cartridges to achieve the total page yields of the bottles using the MSRP (USD) and yields for Epson standard-capacity ink cartridges for similarly featured Epson consumer inkjet printers as of March 2024. | 2. Individual cartridges estimate based on print yields of an included or replacement set of black and color ink bottles as compared to Epson standard- capacity ink cartridges for similarly featured printers as of March 2024. | 3. Part of the ink from the included bottles is used for initial setup; yields are lower than those of replacement ink bottles. Replacement and included ink bottle yields based on the ISO/IEC 24712 pattern with Epson’s methodology. Actual ink yields will vary considerably for reasons including images printed, print settings, temperature and humidity. Yields may be lower when printing infrequently or predominantly with one ink color. All ink colors are used for printing and printer maintenance, and all colors must be available for printing. For more information, visit | 4. Based on average monthly document print volumes of about 200 pages. | 5. See for device compatibility. Epson Connect™ account and voice-activated account registration required. | 6. Most features require an Internet connection to the printer, as well as an Internet- and/or email- enabled device. For a list of Epson Connect enabled printers and compatible devices and apps, visit | 7. Requires Epson Smart Panel app download. Data usage fees may apply.

  • Save Money $$$ on Ink Save Money $$$ on Ink
Pattern Name: Printer Style: ET-3830
I was interested in this printer, after seeing the commercial on TV. My current home office printer is the HP7210, multifunction color; print/scan/fax. Like most who have printers that take ink cartridges, this was getting quite expensive. I would purchase 3 cartridges a year, 2 black, one color, over $180! I said enough is enough. My HP7210x was over 10 years old. The cost of the Epson made the decision easy. I also researched the cost of additional ink, a no brainer for me to continue to purchase this printer. After research I purchased the ET-3830, I just needed printing and scanning. After unboxing, I was surprised how much lighter in weight this printer is compared to my older printer. I like the bright LCD panel with easy access to all the printers’ functions. For my installation, it is hardwired to my computer, I did not install WIFI/Network features, so I cannot comment on connectively. Setup is a breeze. The color ink bottles are fool proof, as each nozzle only fits into the corresponding color well. After ink is loaded, it takes about 10 minutes for the printer to complete setup. I do want to point out while the advertisement clearly shows each color in the wells, in actual the wells are not illuminated however you can clearly see level and a simple letter above each well indicates content. The main control panel can be tilted to any angle to make use that much easier. Lastly note the LCD panel is not a touch screen, not an issue for me. The Epson printer comes with all the drivers and applications to make using the printer simple So far, my printing experience has been great, output is crisp, clear and quick. Scanning is simple as well. I do like the smaller footprint of this smart printer. Ink is doing well also. I will point out, that turning the printer off, always must be depressing the on/off button, then responding to “turn off” printer on the LCD display. I found out the hard way when I turned off from my master surge strip, then at next use, printer when through a full recycle mode. So a simple step to remember! This is a great printer, recommended and do look forward to big savings on ink!! ... show more

  • An Impressive Printer An Impressive Printer
Pattern Name: Printer Style: ET-3830
Very impressed with this little printer. Has been about 10 years since I purchased an ink jet printer - previous units I owned were great for the first couple times use them but after that the ink cartridges would dry out and was simply a pain to use and cost $150 to buy new cartridges. This little Epson am impressed with the 'Best Quality' settings. The 'Normal' setting I don't really use for daily printing, I have an ancient LaserJet for that. Love the eco tank feature -- to be able to fill up the entire printer for $40, what?? Couple of observations to keep in mind: First, when you load up the ink for the first time it uses about 1/4 of level in the tank...was surprised it loaded up that much into the print heads. Second, I use a Mac and I recommend spending a couple dollars to by yourself a true Printer >> USB cable. You can plug and print this unit without doing so but the software install was just the most basic of print drivers / utility. When connected via Printer >> USB was able to instal the entire Epson controls. --This has happened when installed printers in the past...could be me or my Mac set-up but is bit frustrating is not exactly plug and play for the full suite of the software. Once have the correct driver / utility installed can switch to Wi-Fi or LAN connection and don't need to use the USB cable. I bought this unit because of the LAN capability. I print high-res photos which are huge files so wanted the fastest connection. And, speaking of printing photos....I just printed 3 photographs using Epson's Ultra Premium Glossy paper and Oh My Word, this is the closest thing I have seen to a lab print coming off a small ink-jet printer in a long time. No joke. Do not be afraid of using the high gloss paper -- the gloss coating allows the ink to sit on top of the coating and not soak into the paper, so, your whites are whiter and overall range is improved. You probably frame the print under glass so the gloss will get dulled down anyways. As far as non-photo printing...I ran 300 black image only (no color ink) letters on my preprinted letterhead. Fantastic quality -- I used the 'Better' quality setting so it took about 3 hours to print 300 single sided sheets, but, the results were much nicer than using 'Normal' setting. The edges of the type were crisp, the black ink was a bit more black. The time to print is no biggie for me, just set it and let it run. Also, I printed a set of 250 business cards on a matte uncoated card stock. Again used the 'Best' setting, print time was slow but quality was on point. My BC's are 2-sided. I did NOT use the auto duplex feature, I simply printed the fronts then the backs because the fronts are black ink only and then I use a bit of color on the backer design. Why I bring this up---I set the 8.5 x 11" sheet to print 12-up business cards. When cutting the cards down, this little printer was accurate within about 1/8" at the worst, had a little bit of play but dahang, that is pretty tight for a little printer like this. For the price this is a great little printer. My biggest question is what will happen when I don't use it for a week, two weeks, right? Will the ink dry up? Will it get crusty? Am guessing Epson has finally worked some those issues out but will see. Yes, I recommend this printer. If do not want the LAN connection there is a version (I forget the number) of this which is maybe $50 less cost?? Take a look at the photos I posted -- these photos of this guitar are roughly 8.5" wide x 6" tall on 8.5 x 11 paper. I think they look great!! ... show more

  • Epson ET-3830 (Renewed) Great printer for the home or office
Pattern Name: Printer Style: ET-3830 (Renewed)
This is the best printer I've ever owned! It did take a little while for it to arrive from the Renewed Store, but so far It works great! I love that I no longer need to buy ink cartridges anymore. Getting bottled ink is so much cheaper. It's a bottom cartridge paper feed too, and holds up to 250 sheets of paper. Much better than the top feeders that bend with the weight of the paper and also collects dust. This printer, although not made for making great photo prints, does in fact make very good photo prints. I'm very impressed at the quality of this printer, and so glad I took the time to research many kinds and brands before picking this one. So far I really love it. I have heard of some models not doing so well with canvas paper but this one does the job without any problems at all. This Epson ET-3830 does everything I need it to do and does it very well. I would recommend this printer to anyone looking for an all around good, easy to set up, home/office use printer. ... show more

  • Renewed is worth the value
Pattern Name: Printer Style: ET-3830 (Renewed)
I have had good experience with renewed electronics in the past and given the savings over the new price, I found the Epson EcoTank ET-3820 well worth it. The strange looking triangles of packaging in the box are kind of funky but earth-friendly so pretty cool. Ink, cord, printer, everything you need is included. Filling the tanks to max leaves you extra ink in the bottles. Don't worry, you'll need it as the initial charge of the printer uses about 1/4 of a full ink well. So fill it back up with the remainder after initializing. The instructions encourage you to use Epson's Smart Panel on your phone for set up but that got a bit confusing as some steps in the process did not seem to jive with the steps on the printer. So, I went with downloads from their website on my pc. Everything is in sync now and the printer is working well. My primary reason for stopping at four stars is the center feed wheel must have some residue on it from the refurb process. It left a lot of tracks over the first 8-10 test pages but is gradually wearing off. Still not 100% gone but it's getting there. I don't find picture paper printing to be as rich as the old cartridge Epson this replaced but the printer and ink handle photo paper well enough for pics added to a family album. Not like it's going on a commercial print job so I'm good with that. Overall, I would say the renewed is well worth the value but expect a little quirk or two. ... show more

  • No Muss, No Fuss! ONE YEAR UPDATE
Pattern Name: Printer Style: ET-3830
This ET-3830 was relatively easy to set up so long as your are careful to follow the steps in the "phone" app process. What this app will not do is load onto your iMac if it is a little older OS (like MacOS Catalina). so I was content to use my phone. This app will not hook you up to your computer via the wiFi process. You will have to go into the settings "on the printer" once it is up and running to load in any other other devices you may want to print from. It will not just recognize your devices WiFi and hook up to it. With all that be completed in about 20-25 minutes it is ready to print. I first printed a test sheet to check head alignment etc. PERFECT the first time! I have never had a printer do that before. I then tried the TWO-Sided print feature as that is usually cumbersome for printers. It worked with NO mishaps, No shredded paper, and NO stuck paper. This printer sits on my desktop next to my 21.5" iMac comfortably and I still have all my workspace as before. I would buy it again. I've always had good fortune with Epson. My last Epson I gave to a lady as it was too large for my desk. it was 10 years old and refuses to quit! UPDATE: I’ve had this printer for a full year now. Black ink is still 3/4 full and colors are virtually full, all from original bottles. As with my old Epson, this one has performed flawlessly! One sided or two sided, black, color, or both… I would buy it again! ... show more

  • This will outlive the undisclosed 6 month warranty but won't last a year.
Pattern Name: Printer Style: ET-3830
Update: After tons of research and dismantling half this printer, I've figured out the issue. There is a design flaw wherein the paper sensor gets splattered with ink that builds up and covers said sensor. A q-tip with a little alcohol solves the issue. The sensor isn't easily reached and the back/bottom cover has to be removed to reach it. I've had to repeat this every 3-4 months. I'm just stubborn and im gonna get my $400+ outta this thing. My review below still stands. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ If you do choose to buy this, make sure you get the extended warranty. This thing has been nothing but trouble. Total waste of money. The lure of cheap, refillable ink convinced me to give it a try. They do not disclose that the warranty is only 6 months. I haven't even used half of the first ink fill and it keeps throwing paper jam codes. After running the cleaning and alingment processes off and on every few printings (just to get it to work at all), it has now quit printing entirely, claiming there is a paper jam. There is no paper jam. Not anywhere. Not even a small amount of foreign debris. A quick check online shows this is a fairly common problem, but there is no offered user solution. Epson tech support just ran through the same instructions that are built into the printer error clearing prompts and then declared there is a hardware failure and refered me to a service shop. The service shop they directed me to not only does not work on home computers, but they stated they have had a massive Influx of epson printers in the last few months. This company has zero integrity. ... show more

  • Easy to set up with my IPad and IPhones. Instructions and illustrations were clear and concise.
Pattern Name: Printer Style: ET-3830
I originally bought an HP Injet printer, but I spent so much time (6+ hours) on the phone with HP to get it set up. I thought I was in business. Little did I know the Tricolor cartridge hardware would fail in three days. Made another call and spent another 2 hours helping them diagnose the problem. They finally agreed to sending out a new cartridge, like I originally asked. They said I could continue to use the printer, if I selected black instead of color. Well, less than a week later the black failed. The next service rep said I printed too much! I told her that her colleagues did all the remote printing when they were first setting up the printer. It didn’t make me happy! Right then and there, I told her I would be sending back the printer and also the new HP computer, which was still in route to my house. I selected the EPSON ET 3830 with the ink tanks. NO MORE CARTRIDGES! Set it up with my IPAD with NO PROBLEMS. Didn’t have to call anyone. It worked perfectly the first time. Print quality is very good, so I am a satisfied camper. ... show more

  • Prints beautifully
Pattern Name: Printer Style: ET-3830 (Renewed)
We have a HP printer that we have had forever. Don't get me wrong, we love it. But the cartridges have gotten to expensive. I crochet and cross stitch and am always printing patterns. So I use a lot of ink. I just cannot afford the HP ink anymore. I researched forever before getting this printer. I had friends who told me the ink would dry up if I did not use it often, and other scary things. But so far I love the thing. The things I print are lots of color. Crochet patterns show you step by step and black and white just does not work for that. So sometimes one pattern will have pages and pages of color pictures. This thing is really easy on the ink. I have printed lots and lots in the 3 months I have had it and it still has plenty of ink. It hold about 250 pages of blank paper so I don't have to reload constantly (last pattern was 185 pages long). And the ink seems to go a long way and is reasonably priced. This printer is also fast. I am glad they produced a printer that I can afford the ink even though I miss my HP. But I do love this one. I do not have to feel guilty every time I print a pattern. ... show more
