I ordered the Engraving tip and Exchangeable Drive housing with extra tip for my wife who has a Cricut Maker 3. The Housing and tips came packaged in sturdy plastic cases so she can easily remember which tip is which. The quick swap housing looks exactly like what came with her unit and works just the same. The engraving tip worked perfectly for her, she etched some acrylic blanks for a light project.     • Works perfectly on thin metal
I used the engraving tool on aluminum dog tags. It worked perfectly. I did mess up at first because I didn't tape the dog tag in place. They will move if not taped. Make sure that the metal that you use is thin enough to go under the Cricut bar & you shouldn't have any issues. Great Price, quality item. ... show more

I'm reviewing "Engraving Tip and Exchangeable Drive Housing with Extra Engraving Tip for Replacement, Compatible with Maker/Maker3, Engraving Tool Works on Soft Metals, Acrylics, Leather, Plastics and More" which I received via the VINE program. I do a lot of crafting with my Cricut but had not yet tried engraving with it. I saw this and got it. It has two engraving tips and what Cricut calls their Quick Swap Housing. Essentially, it lets you use the same housing for different 'tooling' tips. I put a piece of faux leather on a mat and engraved and cut out a quick piece. Just a little 1 x 6 inch strip of the faux leather to put some snaps on and attach my sunglasses to my wallet strap when out and about. I'm not faulting the tip for the job it did on the leather strap as I did this very hurriedly while on break from work. I also didn't choose the best font for my first engraving venture. Then the choice of materials was questionable too. The faux leather didn't "take" the engraving well, tbh, I pretty much knew it wouldn't, but at this time, I don't have any other materials that are suitable for engraving. I may have to find some scrap metal from the garage later and try again. I will update my review if I end up being unhappy with the tips. The tips did not have any trouble being recognized by my Maker 3 or by my other quick swap housing. I've very happy with the quality of both tips and the housing it came with. Super happy to now add engraving to my crafting repertoire! ... show more

One of the points was flat, like if it was slammed point down onto something harder that it. I did not know that could happen, the other one was fine and work well as a good replacement.

I guess I didn't read the product description fully. I was expecting to only get 2 engraving tips to use with my existing drive housing. I was very pleased when my order arrived and that it also included its own drive housing. Now I don't have to worry about switching them out all of the time and this drive housing also works with my other tips. So far I haven't had the chance to engrave anything but I was able to put the tool into my Maker 3 to test its recognition and I didn't encounter any problems. The dive housing doesn't have any finder guards like the Circut branded ones do so keep that in mind if that's something that matters to you. Other than that everything seems high quality and was packaged in nice plastic cases to keep everything safe and undamaged during shipping. ... show more

I am so excited to play with more acrylic blanks and my cricut! This thing fit perfectly and there are 2 blades! I am beyond thrilled. Easy to use, doesn't drag, and the projects come out clean! I am thrilled with this!
