I don’t usually write reviews, but this portable AC really surprised me—in a good way. I got it for our living room (around 400 sq ft), and it cools the space fast. Like within 30 minutes, the room actually feels comfortable, even on 90+ degree days. I’ve owned a 14k BTU unit before, but this one seems to work better despite being 12k. Go figure. Setting it up was super easy—just roll it into place, attach the hose and window panel, and plug it in. Took maybe 10 minutes tops. The window kit fit my sliding window just fine, and the remote makes things convenient. Noise-wise, it’s quieter than other portable units I’ve tried. It still makes a bit of sound (it’s a fan and compressor, after all), but nothing too distracting. We can still watch TV or sleep with it running, especially on the “Sleep” setting. The dehumidifier mode works well too. I haven’t had to empty any water manually yet, which is a big plus—guess the self-evaporation feature is doing its job. All in all, it’s solid, does what it promises, and feels worth the price. If you’re dealing with summer heat and need something reliable that you don’t have to install permanently, this is a great option.

This was a big purchase for me. I have never owned a stand up air conditioner, and I didn't know what to expect. I was nervous when I clicked the confirm order button. Let me assure you who are reading this that this was probably my highest rated purchases on amazon. I live in an apartment complex, a townhome, and we are not allowed window units; however, the AC does not reach the entire upstairs very well, and the maintenance team likes to do as little as possible about it. So, we had to invest in one of these, and I can honestly say, I am so thankful I don’t have anymore sweaty nights! The temp goes down to 64 degrees which is super, super comfortable. I do not sleep with it that low, but I love a cold, cold room, so I sleep with it at 68. If my door is open, it will cool most of the upstairs (three bedrooms). If you’re worried about the apartment complex not allowing window units, but you really want to be cool, get this. The part the has to go in the window is not big at all, and it actually, from a glance, just looks like you have a window fan, and it sounds like it too. Shipping -- Timely, and damage free. Instructions -- Clear and easy Setup -- Window installation may take some patience, but with minimal effort, it can be done in no time. (Remote even came with batteries included!) Cleaning -- I have not had to vacuum the filter for now, but I could do so easily. Sound Level -- If you keep it next to your bed, the sound could prove to be a hindrance, after hours. However, I keep mine at the window opposite my bed, and it still keeps the whole room cool, while I sleep in peace with barely a hum to be heard. Speaking of which... Sleep Mode -- The portable air conditioner becomes quieter in this mode, I didn't measure the sound level exactly, but it works great for sleeping! Separate Modes -- Fan Mode: This mode turns the appliance into a normal household fan, with low / high settings. Good for when you want to keep a cool room cool longer, and the output is impressive. Dehumidifier mode: I think this feature is great, but I haven't used it much. Dry climate and all. Remote -- can work in direct line-of-sight all the way across my room. Timer -- This feature is hands-down my favorite part of the whole deal. You can set a timer to turn off the AC (in 1-24 hour intervals). This is perfect for sleep mode on average-temperature days, or when you leave in the middle of the day, and want it to turn off when the sun goes down. All in all, I have a total of ZERO complaints about this appliance. If you are shopping for a 8000 BTU portable air conditioners, I whole-heartedly recommend this product for a worry-free buy. I was looking for a portable air conditioner that would match one that I borrowed. She paid 500.00 for hers but it has a heater in it. I didn't need a heater. The unit came well packaged and on time. It is lighter than the borrowed one. The window set up is super easy to install and it works really well. I got this to help cool off a second level since my central air just wasn't cutting it. You can hear it when it kicks on and maybe in a bedroom that might be annoying but to me it's just white noise. I would recommend. For the price and coolness it's worth it. We also put a fan about five feet away to direct the coolness and now we sleep like babies.

Deceptive ratings! I ordered the 14,000 BTU option. The box that arrived said 10,000 BTU. I reached out to the seller and was provided this explanation: "Our product is labeled as 14,000 BTU, which represents its cooling capacity under the ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) standard. The ASHRAE standard is commonly used in the industry to measure the maximum cooling capacity of air conditioners. Under these testing conditions, our air conditioner provides a cooling capacity of 14,000 BTU. The 10,000 BTU SACC (Seasonally Adjusted Cooling Capacity) is another measure of cooling capacity that takes into account various environmental factors, such as indoor-outdoor temperature differences, humidity, and the unit's performance over continuous operation. This value is typically lower than the ASHRAE ratting. While the SACC value is lower, it does not mean that the air conditioner performs poorly. The 14,000 BTU ASHRAE ratting still indicates a very strong cooling capacity, and the 10,000 BTU SACC reflects adjustments based on environmental variations, which do not affect the basic performance of the air conditioner." Upon research, the SACC rating is the current standard and this advertisement is deceptive.
