I've been buying these for years for my facilities. They are very easy to install and last a very long time. Be sure to run water through it, to purge any air pockets out before dispensing drinking water. It gives the water a good, purified taste. They function well for my needs.

The filter itself is fine and the price is competitive. But ... Anyone replacing this filter for the first time should be warned that the electrical wall plug is directly behind the filter and you and the outlet will be doused with water when it's removed, even with the water main shut off. You should isolate the electrical cord and outlet with a cloth. The Elkay counter is supposed to reset when the filter is replaced, but after the first replacement it did not reset. I purchase the filter a second time for routine maintenance. I got lucky, the counter did reset! ... show more

This filter has a microchip so your fountain will know whether it has been changed or not, so get it, not cheap ones or your fountain will always say it needs to be changed. Great quality and works great!

    • Easy to change & the water always has great flavor. Don't buy knock-off if you want light green.

If it doesn't have the RFID sticker on the side, it will not signal to the drinking fountain that the filter has been changed. So, if you purchase a genuine filter and the sticker isn't there (happened to us once), then the light will not switch from red to green on the front of the machine when it is replaced. For that reason, we are careful to purchase the genuine filter from Elkay, because it isn't appealing to most people to drink from a fountain with the RED light warning them that the filter isn't good. That said, this genuine filter is pricey, but lasts about 1 year in our home. ... show more
