Description

Elixir Strings revolutionized guitar strings by finding a way to extend the life of wound strings without compromising the tone. Polyweb coated strings have a balanced tone and smooth response - they sound like strings that have been "played in". Nanoweb coated strings sound and feel like uncoated strings - they are bright and lively, and the coating is so micro thin that you can barely tell it's there.

Frequently asked questions

Elixir's Acoustic 80/20 Bronze Strings are unique due to their NANOWEB Coating. This innovative feature is a thin sheath that wraps around the string, providing extended tone life by preventing the build-up of dirt and oils from your fingers. This coating also offers a smooth, natural feel with reduced finger squeak, making your guitar playing more comfortable and expressive.

The 80/20 Bronze indicates the composition of the string's wrap wire. It's made up of 80% copper and 20% zinc. The result is a bright and expressive tone that's perfect for a wide range of musical styles.

The Light classification refers to the gauge, or thickness, of the strings. Light strings are typically easier to play with less finger pressure and they produce a bright, clear tone. The specific gauges in this set range from .012-.053 inches.

Elixir's Acoustic 80/20 Bronze Strings are designed specifically for acoustic guitars, and they may not be suitable for all types of guitars. It's always best to check the manufacturer’s specifications to ensure compatibility with your instrument.

  • Short of putting electric guitar stings on a top of the line Taylor, these are the lightest I found
Style: Ex. Light (.010-.047) Size: 1-Pack
I'm aware different guitars are for different styles of play but I Bend Strings ! Hard to play the great riffs of my time without a light set of acoustic strings and I just finished stringing them up on a Taylor 814CE and It still has full rich sound. Thank You Elixir !

  • Great sound and longevity
Style: Light (.012-.053) Size: 1-Pack
Elixir continues to improve quality--they last forever and sound the same even after many months --amazing. Put these on an average guitar and the sound improvement is 50%. Get the 80/20s with the thin coating--you can't even tell they are coated strings--so bright with long sustain.

Broke the first string right out of the box. Barley put any tention on it and it snapped. I think it was possibly just a bad string but I still like these strings

  • Great for people with sweaty hands
Style: Light (.012-.053) Size: 1-Pack
I have very sweaty hands which really run through a pack of strings in less than 2weeks depending on how often I play. I was using Martin's coated strings for awhile but I decided to give these a try and I'm very impressed. I swapped the strings 2024 June and it's still doing good without any rusting (currently January 2025). I know many of you guys are wondering why I haven't swapped my strings in so long and it's because I didn't feel the need to. I'm not a professional musician, nor do I perform in front of people. As long as it doesn't sound terrible, get out of tune often, or etc. I don't really change it. I usually play for maybe 15-30minutes every so often and I wipe down my strings after every use. I've done these for Martin's coated strings and they max lasted me maybe 1.5months before I started noticing rust here and there. This one, it doesn't get rusty and I bought it for less than 20 bucks. To me, that's a lot of value to get out of consumable goods. Yes, the tone isn't as great as uncoated strings, nor is it as great as when I first exchanged it. Honestly though, for a person like me, who does play the guitar just as a hobby, it's more than enough. ... show more
